Wore these for the first time for a 5 mile road run and all I can say is, OMG! These shoes are amazing for me. I have the Zoom Fly and the Zoom Pegasus Turbo and while I love both of those shoes, they just don't compare to the Vaporfly 4% Flyknit. I need cushion and rebound because I run on the road (asphalt) and these shoes are the best I've used and I can tell you all that I've used every other brand. The downside is that these shoes are expensive, but for me, well worth the price. I was a little worried that they would run a little small, but they fit perfect (I'm a men's 9.5 and my feet are a little on the wide side). They are super light and comfortable too. If you're hesitant to buy these because of price, don't be. You won't regret it plus if you buy directly ... MoreWore these for the first time for a 5 mile road run and all I can say is, OMG! My watch buzzed at mile 1 and I was a little surprised that I hit 7:42 pace. At mile 2 I was at 7:29 pace, and I wasn't really "trying" to push the pace. Those were my slowest 2 miles by a bunch. I settled into a groove around 7:15 for several miles and then finished the last 4.1 averaging 6:55. I never hit 6:55 in training runs, much less during the final 4 of a long run.The best analogy I can give with these shoes is that it's like driving a really nice car down the highway. It doesn't feel like you're going all that fast, and then you look down and you're doing 90 in a 65. As I said in the title, the hype is real. These shoes are game changers.

It has made me faster, instantaneously! I literally feel I am flying in them as the feet feels much less impact from the ground strikes. I can't believe the performance of the shoes! Then, the issue. I've ran approximately 60 miles in them and while showing off the shoes to a friend to brag about them, I noticed the tears in the sole. I wasn't expecting that. Best use as a race shoe
28 July 2020

This basically combines the Pegasus ZoomX and Zoom 3 shoes, except lighter. Either of those are great training shoes. These are great if you are running a marathon, race, or trying to set a PR. I used my first pair for three marathons. If you are looking for peak performance, that’s probably the limit, but they will still have very good performance for another 100+ miles. To make them so incredibly light, they have thin minimalist soles in the back. So don’t expect them to last much longer, and don’t expect the soles to look good past 100miles. One reviewer said his lasted for 500 miles. Maybe he meant KM or only used them on a rubber track. Just don’t be disappointed when yours don’t last that long.

Fast.....but after my first run....
5 April 2020

Tips:1) Make sure the laces are snug so you get a better feel for energy return.2) Make sure your socks ride higher than the back of the shoe or it could dig into your foot.I'm not a heel striker but on occasion a change in stride can cause a scrape of the sole. On my first ever run of 8 miles, I counted 3 scrapes with my left foot and one on my right. Those 3 scrapes were enough to cause substantial wear on the outer edge of the sole. Again...this is only after 8 miles and 3 scrapes on the left and 1 scrape on the right on normal asphalt/sidewalk.These shoes are fast, and light but you're definitely going to want to only use these for your races.I'm thinking about returning them at this point.

Got a bad hip? This is the shoe for you.

I sustained a labral tear on a long run years ago. Thought I had to give up on running, was pretty bummed for several years, was only able to make it about 3 miles per go, only a few times per week before my hip would act up and I'd have to take several days / weeks off and try to start back up again. Changed my cadence, changed my running style (who thought I'd ever be a mid/toe-striker?), but didn't make a ton of difference. Then, I decided to take the plunge and give the Vaporfly a chance. Lots of hype, polarized opinions, blah blah blah. I'm not trying to impress anyone, I don't do organized runs - hell, I run alone in my basement after the kiddo goes to bed in front of a TV. All I want is something that I can run in consistently and not have my hip scream at me the following morning. Figured it couldn't hurt. And amazingly, for a change, I was right. The first run I felt like I was walking on air, barely felt my foot hit the treadmill. Took a few runs to get balance settled, but quickly realized that the mid-sole energy return from this takes all of the strain out of my impact. Was able to ramp up my speed / cadence a bit with minimal effort, and was able to take longer and more sustained stretches before taking a pause. Can finally run day-after-day again (if I choose) in the 4-7 mile range without too much discomfort. The shoes are still new for me, barely 50 miles on them thusfar, but I've got high hopes for the long run - literally and figuratively - as I let these things sculpt my running future.

Great Shoe!

I just want to stock up on these shoes!Fit and Feel:The flyknit on these are great and fit true to size for me.I have always worn a 8.5M with Nike. Currently I train in the Epic React and Pegasus Turbo's (These feel a bit roomy in the toe box area for me)But the flyknit on the Vaporfly 4% is definitely more supportive with almost an intertwined "plastic-y" weave that kind of looks like fishing wire. Only the tongue area uses the stretchy flyknit seen on the Epic Reacts. The heel area can feel a little loose, but not a huge issue. If you feel your heel slipping you can always wear one of the thicker running socks.I would also recommend running in these beforehand to get a feel for lacing. I have usually done a quick warm up run in them before a race and adjust accordingly.Performance:I usually run between a 5k - 10k and these shoes work great. I can really feel the "pop" from the shoe and it takes some discipline not to go out too fast on a race. There are times where my lungs cannot keep up with my legs when wearing the 4%Durability:I have put about 35mi in mine and starting to see fraying on the bottom edges of the foam. There is a little more wrinkling on the side walls of teh foam as well, but nothing that affect performance. (I weigh about 145 lbs)Conclusion:These are a must have for race day.I just want to wear these for every single run, but cost to durability is a big factor.

Great shoe for racing, track workouts
20 January 2020

This shoe is perfect for speed workouts. But I do not recommend this shoe for the majority of training methods. My knees ache if I attempt to run slow in this shoe over longer distances. However, I could see these being good for racing any distance.Only real flaws besides that are the following, which I cannot explain (may be something I've done to cause these to happen):- The right shoe slips around for some reason, no matter how tight I tie it. Furthermore, shoelaces come untied easily, even after triple-knotting them (I bought upgraded laces for them)- The left shoe digs into my ankleOther than these minor flaws (I've learned to work with them), this shoe is worth a shot. It looks like the material is just shedding on the sole of the shoes. Also, I noticed that my left shoe, under the heel is making popping noises with every step. They are some of the most comfortable shoes that Ive owned to running in. I have no complaints on the comfort of the shoe, but extremely disappointed in the quality of these shoes. I have purchased many Nike running shoes and looked at all the soles of old Nike shoes, with no significant disintegration of the material like these shoes have. I want to return them. I wish they were better quality, because they are great to run in.

Unintended Consequences-Best Running Shoe-logged 500 Miles
28 June 2020

I started running five years ago with a flat foot. For the first four years, I used Nike Vomero 9 through 13 with custom foot orthotics. Early this year, when shopping for a new pair of Vomero, I decided to try Vapofly. At first, I was reluctant to try them as the shoes were lighter than I expected. But once I put them on, I realized how comfortable they were. I was running a bit faster and without using orthotics! As of yesterday, I completed 500 miles (including 15 long runs covering 245 miles in NYC during COVID (April-June, see below). The unintended consequence is that I am unable to run in any other shoes; last month tried UA HOVR-ATX, did not work for me. I need to find a new pair of Vaporfly (size 10.5) soon. This style is not available on your online store ... MoreI started running five years ago with a flat foot. For the first four years, I used Nike Vomero 9 through 13 with custom foot orthotics. This style is not available on your online store or any of your brick and motor stores. Hoping Nike can procure a swift replacement. I do not know how long I can keep running in my 500 mile-old-shoes (longing for retirement!).
