The sacai x Nike VaporWaffle Dark Iris is a Spring 2021 collaboration between Chitose Abes avant garde fashion label and Nike on the hybrid silhouette. In late 2020, sacai and Nike released its first VaporWaffle, a low-top shoe that combines design elements of Nikes Vaporfly and Air Pegasus 83s performance runners. Like its previous collaborations on the Blazer Mid and LDWaffle, sacais VaporWaffle does everything in twos. It should be noted that the upper of the Dark Iris features a new nylon construction in comparison to the original mesh-based build the model previously employed on colorways like the Villain Red. A mixture of light and dark purples appear on the aforementioned nylon mid-panel and collar and on the suede toe. Painted purple Swoosh logos are layered beneath the orange leather Swoosh on either side of the shoe. The same hue of burnt orange leather appears on the heel tab with dual sacai and Nike branding. Oversized navy blue and white laces are placed over the layered purple and white nylon tongues. The stacked midsole splits at the heel in a shape reminiscent of the Vaporfly.
