My significant other owned this. Easy to use. Great for beginner to intermediates looking to get into digital photography. The point and shoot mode does a fantastic job. Digging into to manual mode opens up a whole new world. The f-stop range is incredible. The iso range allows for low light as well as bright, natural, light photography. The camera is, overall, a great learning experience!

I am now a wedding photographer and travel consultant, so my focus has shifted a lot, but this camera still gives me GREAT JOY, and is still an absolute beast for performance, megapixel "peeping," and it was the PERFECT camera to make me fall in love with the artistry of photography. My baby brother just had his first baby and asked which camera model he should get if he only had $500. I told him to keep that, then sent him the D5600, both lenses, plus my favorite shorter lens (nikkor 35mm f1.8). I've moved on to my "big boy (full frame, dual card slot) camera for weddings, and really wanted him to fall in love with photography as I did...instead of trying to learn on something that would be a struggle or no fun. Plus this way he can take adorable family portaits of the 3 of them and send them this way :)

Cheers to Nikon D5600!

Love! Love! Love this camera. It has all the features of my old and very beloved d5100 with the addition of Bluetooth and WiFi capability. Now I can view images on my iPad immediately and organize, do edits, delete poor quality images, etc via SnapBridge and Nikon Image Space. Slightly smaller than the d5100, it is also unbelievably lighter. It’s perfect for someone like me; early 50’s with visual changes. Although I love the display on the back of the camera, it simply isn’t big enough to see images clearly. So connecting to my iPad on the fly, in the field is invaluable. The d5000 line of Nikon cameras is perfect for the novice/amateur photographer who is confident enough to manipulate the controls but doesn’t need, want or can afford the BIG professional cameras. ...Ā MoreLove! Excellent Customer Service—Camera and Lenses Worked Great
24 September 2021

Camera, lenses, battery, etc., all arrived safely, and on time, in a very nice case. First time I have used any camera rental service, and I’m glad I choose Lenrentals. I had heard good things about them and now I see why. I rented a Nikon D5600 and three lenses to see if a small, older DSLR would be a good fit for me. The camera takes great pictures, but I decided it wasn’t what I wanted. So I figure I spent a little money to save me from a more expensive wrong decision, plus I enjoyed playing with the camera for a few days. Also, if I had wanted to purchase the camera, they offered me a deal to keep the camera and one of the lenses at a price that included a partial discount of the rental fee. Very easy process. Also, if you’re nervous about damaging your rental items, they offer insurance at a reasonable price. I will definitely use Lensrentals again.

I started photography using my dads Fx format Nikon d50. Acquired a taste for it and bought the 5600 with 18-55mm vr lens. I love it. Some of my pics come out to the same if not better standard than my friends with professional cameras worth £££££'s. Absolutely delighted with the purchase. I would with out doubt recommend this to anybody getting into photography. The way the screen tilts around is really helpful. I recently visited a tulip field to get pics. I was able to bring the camera down to ground level and still see what I was picturing through the live view function without getting onto the wet muddy furrows of the field. I also love the SnapBridge function which allows you to Bluetooth pics straight to your phone/tabletI also really enjoy the 4K resolution ... MoreI started photography using my dads Fx format Nikon d50. Nikon at its best for the rookie photography!

Moving up to a DSLR camera can be daunting; I found this out when I got the user manual and the hundreds of pages on how to use it. Additionally, when using the monitor, the amount of info on the screen is overload for those of us just starting down this path. Sooooo, with that said, its pedigree is great and its shutter count was spot on and everything with its functionality is inspiring--now I just have to become familiar with it and reach a comfort level to produce the photos I hope will match up with Nikon! The camera was exactly like it was described!

So Far, So Good

I've owned this camera for about a week, and so far it's great. I'm only a photography hobbyist, and this is great for my current capabilities and understanding of photography. I've used it on a couple of photo walks with folks around my neighborhood, and it's very light/portable. It's the perfect size to put in one of those Patagonia Atom sling bags to keep at the ready. The battery lasts a long time and charges quickly. I've kept it in manual mode the whole time I've had it, and being able to change the ISO on the fly is a completely new concept for me, as I've only shot film until owning this camera. Being able to change the ISO, the shutter speed, and the aperture all with the same dial is a very handy feature. Before I figured out how to do that, I was changing all those settings on the touch-screen like a scrub. The screen is great, and it's very easy to move into different positions. The screen even automatically turns off when you bring the camera up to your face so you don't accidentally change any settings with your nose. The menus are also very straightforward. The camera ships with Japanese as the default language, but in spite of that, I was able to find my way to the 'change default language' and switch it to english. The lens it ships with is great too. It's good for shooting up-close subjects, but you'll need something bigger for subjects further away.Overall, it's a good amateur-level camera. I haven't truly put it through its paces yet, but I'm looking forward to it.

Taking a Gamble
5 September 2022

My aging Nikon D5200 has a lot of shutter actuations, an increase in hot pixels, and a cracked but functional LCD screen. I was ready to go mirrorless, but I could not find something that would match up with an all-in-one lens. I would have liked to continue using a Tamron 18-400, but I was open to a mirrorless compatible lens if it could offer a similar range of coverage. I did not, so I looked at Nikon's SLRs. Weight has become important to me; the D5600 was the lightest. Similarities with the body and menus to the D5200 were also a plus. My prior lenses remained usable. Having opted for the D5600, I found that almost none were in stock. It is now labeled an older product. Nikon may have discontinued its manufacture. Having opted for the D5600, I found that almost none were in stock. It is now labeled an older product. Nikon may have discontinued its manufacture. Bodies alone were not available, so I took a gamble with a kit lens and body combo. The gamble is that there is no manufacturer warrantee, only a limited warrantee by the seller, because the products were not produced for our region.I got a shock when I turned on the camera; the menus were in Asian pictographs. I did find one line that was in Roman letters -Language. Once I selected that and English I was ready to continue my set-up. The D5600 works, and is compatible with my lenses. However the New Nikkor 18-55 lens is not reverse compatible with my D5200. When the 18-55 is put on the D5200, the message Lens not attached appears. I note the my ML-L3 infrared remote does not work on the newer D5600. I did buy a corded remote instead. So far the gamble has worked. I may go mirrorless and or full frame later, but for now I can wait for the right all-in-one zooms to develop. If I find any other issues with the D5600, I'll update this review.

I needed a camera that had some features that my Coolpix B500 lacked. My professor has cameras that we can use, but we were on spring break at the time. Since I didn't want to risk falling behind, I turned to the internet for a solution. This is how I found lens rentals. The entire process was pretty painless and the rental prices are reasonable. I also loved that the packages are shipped with return labels as well as some packing tape. It made the return process very simple. As for the camera itself, the D5600 is pretty awesome! It was easy to use and took beautiful "forensic quality" photographs. I had to use manual mode for this assignment which I've struggled with before on Canon cameras. Disappointed, No mention at the time of ordering, from the BH website, I was buying a gray market Nikon D5600 basic camera kit with a warranty card from India and not a USA Nikon warranty card camera. Further, the box did not include a proper printed instruction manual, UCB cable, video cable, lens hood or a USA compatible battery charger. The included Nikon Charger has prongs for use in India and not a USA style plug. For around $135.00 to $150.00 USD I could buy the missing accessories I would need for use in the USA. Though, not much of a deal, as I have had other new Nikon USA warranty cameras that arrived with the missing Nikon D5600 USA accessories included in the box. Those cameras included a Nikon D5300 basic kit; Nikon D3 body, Nikon D300 and later the Nikon D500.Waiting to see what BH says about the issues via email and returning this camera.
