$2,273.99

(549 reviews)

The views through the NIKKOR Z 14-24mm f/2.8 S are simply epic. Ultra-wide perspectives that challenge our sense of scale. Clarity that transports you. A level of detail you have to see to believe. All in the shortest, lightest and most versatile 14-24mm f/2.8 constant aperture zoom available. Optimized for landscapes, cityscapes, night skies, architecture, interiors and environmental portraits—this is the lens for taking it all in. The NIKKOR Z 14-24mm f/2.8 S is smaller and lighter than any comparable lens. It's easier on your back, arms and tripod. It takes up less room in your bag, so you'll be more likely to take it everywhere you go. And it's superbly balanced on a Z camera for composing in the moment. Take it all in. With ultra-wide lenses, every millimeter counts. At its widest setting of 14mm, the NIKKOR Z 14-24mm f/2.8 S covers 115° of view. And it does so with staggering sharpness and clarity across the entire expansive frame—from the center to the far edges. More light. More options. Gather more light at any zoom position with a fast f/2.8 constant aperture and your Z camera's Vibration Reduction image stabilization. In low-light, illuminate subjects with longer exposures or sharpen them with faster shutter speeds. This is compositional freedom.

A fantastic workhorse not without its flaws

I've had this lens for a couple weeks now, and it pretty much stays on my camera. Other lenses I currently own are the Z 40mm f/2, Z 85mm f/1.8 S, and the Z 14-24mm f/2.8 S.The Z 24-70mm is super sharp to the corners on my Z6 II. The wide aperture of this lens combined with the excellent low light capability of the Z6 II is a perfect match. There is a little vignetting at 24mm wide open, but very gradual and easily taken care of in post processing. The focusing elements are all internal and very fast and quiet. Unfortunately, unlike the Z 14-24 and 70-200 f/2.8, this lens extends when you move from 24mm out to 70mm. It's a bit heavy, but that's to be expected for a lens of this type and specifications. I first contacted Nikon and they said that shouldn't be the case. Being the only 1 of the 3 "holy trinity" produced in Japan I was a little surprised by this. But, the next copy I received is amazing and I have no regrets. B&H was super fast getting a replacement out to me.No lens is perfect, and pricier they get the more critical users will be. Nevertheless, I decided to order the Z 70-200mm f/2.8 after my experiences with the performances of this lens and the Z 14-24mm f/2.8. Both of which are fantastic lenses. You won't be disappointed adding this lens to your bag.

Not the Best for Milky Way Photography
5 August 2021

I had really high expectations for this lens given the reviews I read. I bought it primarily for Milky Way photography. The lens has many great features--it's light, well-built, compatible with screw-in filters, and weather-sealed. And I'm a loyal Nikon user, so I'm predisposed to like anything from Nikon. But I am very disappointed with this lens. There are two problems with this lens, and only one can be fixed with a work-around. The main problem with this lens is that it suffers from noticeable sagittal coma in the corners. Noticeable in that the coma can be seen in an 8x10 print. You can see the coma in the photo I uploaded (10-second exposure, ISO1600, f/2.8, Nikon Z6). The coma is mostly gone by f/5.6, but that's a lot of light to give up given the cost of ... MoreI had really high expectations for this lens given the reviews I read. That is, light can get in between the front glass of the lens and the inside surface of the filter. That problem can be fixed with a little tape, but it shouldn't be necessary given the price of this lens. So, I think this is a very nice lens for daytime landscape photography, but I don't think that it's worth the money for Milky Way photography.

Often Spectacular

This lens has great potential, but it requires some close attention to detail to best serve the photographer. When mounted on the Z 50 it performs very well, however the Z 50 does not have vibration reduction, so I keep my shutter speed quite high if not using a tripod... often at 1/500s or above. The weight of the lens tends to bring the center of gravity towards the front which you may not be accustomed to given other much lighter Z lenses. Also, when using a zoom lens, we may tend to forget that our depth of field changes significantly as we zoom or change aperture. I use the lens' innermost ring to adjust Exposure Compensation and find this quite helpful. The 82mm filter size is somewhat eye-opening but I do recommend you get a UV filter for protection. I believe the extra weight and cost over the 24-70 f/4 is worth it. The f/2.8's optical superiority becomes evident during post-production micro-contrast adjustments for example. Sturdy, professional handling, highly recommended!

Optically perfect workhorse. Lacks character!
12 May 2023

THE GOOD:Outstanding optically! Corner to corner sharpness is second to none. One of the best zoom lenses on the planet. It's as sharp as prime lenses in its range. It's absolute perfection with minimal to no CA, minimal to no distortion.THE BADLacks character. Its lack of flaws in turn makes the rendering a little boring. Also, the build quality doesn't feel as premium as I would expect from top-of-the-line Nikkor. The OLED display is cool but unnecessary for most applications. Could have saved a little size and price by not having the OLED display. For landscapes, this lens is a no-brainer. However, for weddings, events, portraits and fashion, I actually prefer the F-mount 24-70mm f/2.8 due to its slight optical flaws and more captivating rendition.

I have recently purchased a Z9 from B&H. I love NIKON in that the old lenses fit the newer products...usually with an adaptor.. So having purchased the FTX II converter ring, I shot several hundred pictures using various lenses that I have had for years and used with my D850, D500 and D7101.First, let me say that the pictures were fantastic even with the non-mirrorless lenses, (a tribute to the Z9 in large part I'm sure) ...However, after renting a mirrorless lens...I knew that I needed to add the Z 24-70 f/2.8 S to my camera bag.Secondly, I have not disappointed in any way. Crystal clear, versatile and lighter than I expected, I can see why mirrorless equipment has caught on in such a big way. I wish I could go completely mirrorless, but there is no way I could ... MoreI have recently purchased a Z9 from B&H. I wish I could go completely mirrorless, but there is no way I could afford such a move at this time....but if I could I would! Finally, the fact that NIKON/B&H had this lens on sale for $300.00 off, made this purchase one of the best values for a lens of this quality, I have ever made. The Z 24-70 and B&H receive my highest recommendation

Outstanding lens...razor sharp and crystal clear.

I recently purchased a Z9 from B&H and had been using my non- mirrorless lenses for about a month. While my pictures were very sharp and I was very extremely impressed with the Z9, I was extremely interested in testing a Z lens with my camera.I was certainly NOT disappointed... The Z 24-70 f/2.8 S is everything that it is advertised to be. It is razor sharp and crystal clear, and is super versatile. I have been very impressed. Naturally, without the necessity of the FTZ II mount adaptor it makes the Z9 that much lighter and more responsive...Finally...since I was lucky enough to purchase it on sale, (and saved 300.00) it was an even more fantastic purchase. Great lens, great camera...and as always...it's great dealing with B&H.They have excellent service, ... MoreI recently purchased a Z9 from B&H and had been using my non- mirrorless lenses for about a month. Solid

Got rid of my Tamron G2 for this and don't regret it at all. Solid construction, tact-sharp optics, great color, optically excellent. I shoot news so it's been through some tough conditions already and preformed quite admirably. Balances well on the camera and definitely is one of the lightest 24-70s I've used but it's perhaps physically a tad on the large size mounted on a Z7II.Only thing is there might be a bit too much added on to this lens. I thought I'd like the control ring towards the lens mount, but it's actually pretty annoying. With default settings, a slight slip of your wrist while shooting wide open and suddenly you're at f/8. It's far from a deal breaker because you can just change or disable it but honestly I would have taken $100 off the lens price ... MoreGot rid of my Tamron G2 for this and don't regret it at all. There's enough dials on the camera to suffice.

Superb Optic!

The Z 24-70mm f/2.8 S is one heck of an optic! This lens is bright and super-sharp even when wide-opened. My only complaint is that at 24mm setting, you cannot stack two screw-mount filters without getting a little vignette. I have B+W UV and Heliopan CPL on this lens. They are both slim line and the vignette is still presence. This is just a minor inconvenience because it can be easily fix in post. I do notice that the vignette disappears at 27mm when both the UV and CPL are attached.Attached, are some sample images made using the Z9 with Nikkor Z 24-70mm f/2.8 S mounted. These images were taken down and dirty for a quick test using natural light. No strobe. No reflectors. No light modifier. All were shot wide opened at f/2.8 on manual mode.
