Familiar with both handheld and home console gaming alike on various systems, (NES, Gameboy, 64, Gamecube, DS, Wii, and 3DS), the Nintendo Switch was an exciting purchase for me because of its hybrid functionality. When it comes to the Nintendo Switch, the developers at Nintendo did not disappoint. Their team designed a sleek console and created an exceptional hybrid gaming experience with solid titles like Super Mario Odyssey, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and others. Regardless of how I choose to play a game, the design and flexibility of the Switch's Joy-Cons makes "switching" from different controller modes fun, and a super easy and intuitive experience. Pros: - EXCELLENT design of console and controllers - Console itself is very durable, docking it is straightforward and easy - Easy to switch from handheld, to Joy-Cons, to controller, etc. (satisfying, almost fun "click" sound when the controllers are attached in place), a sleek and intuitive experience. - Option of neon red/blue vs gray Joy-Cons (there are other color options as well, sold separately, or are available depending on what bundle you buy) - Graphics are excellent - Great sound - Both physical game cartridges and digital download options are available - Good storage space - Great game library - Super Mario Odyssey, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Splatoon 2, New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe, Yoshi's Crafted World, Super Mario Maker 2, Fortnite, etc. - Excellent overall user experience! Cons: - No backwards compatibility for older games on Wii or Wii U - Battery life could be a little better. For example, it's good for about 2.5-3 hours when playing Super Mario Odyssey in handheld mode. Overall, for the Nintendo Switch, I would say the positives far outweigh the negatives. In a nutshell, I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND this console! There's a great library of games on this system which all provide literally hours of fun for friends and family of really any age.

It takes everything you loved about the original and has amazing backgrounds, solid platforming, and challenging game play. I like this game enough I have it on both Nintendo Switch and Nintendo 3DS. I'm a huge Pokemon fan and when I heard they were making a OLED version for Scarlet and Violet, I knew I had to get my hands on it. I'm impressed by just how much thought was put into the design! It's filled, yet doesn't feel cluttered at all. If you're a Pokemon Fan, excited for your upcoming adventure in the Paldea Region, and in need of a Switch, I highly recommend you get your hands on this if you can. (I understand this OLED is hard to find. I was lucky to notice Target's website had them in stock at 7AM Eastern on Launch. I also missed every single pre-order possible...) ___ As a side note: This isn't my first Switch, but it IS my first OLED. I honestly did not expect such a major difference regarding visual quality between a normal Switch and an OLED. In ... Pros: A very refreshing gaming experience.Very easy to jump in and play. On other consoles you start them up and first have to complete a 100GB+ update, updates on the switch are small so don't hold you up for long. The design is very well thought out and the console feels well made in your hands. Particularly how solid the slide on joy cons are which you might expect to be flimsy but they're a real highlight. The graphics are good enough. I've played Witcher in 4K on Xbox and now I've played it on the Switch I can honestly say the experience is no worse for it (at least in hand held mode). Obviously the Witcher is an intense world to render. Games like Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Pokémon Sword/Shield lend themselves well to the Switch because they present ... Games like Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Pokémon Sword/Shield lend themselves well to the Switch because they present beautiful, artful world's that give a sense of wonder without having to rely on the realism that most other games aim for these days.Value for money, well, I bought one of these soon after they'd first came out in a bundle deal and felt like it was good value. I sold that console to help furnish a new flat (which I regretted), so when I bought this one I was surprised that the cost is still the same! But, it has held its value because it is good value.Cons: Slightly annoyed that soon after I bought this they announced the OLED version...This model has improved battery and you can play for a good amount of time in handheld mode (hours). I would just like the charging to be faster.
I love it, bought the console used and is working great. I just noticed that one of the joycons that came with the console (the blue joycon to be specific) had a loose grip, so when I use it on handheld mode and I try to turn off the console, and I push a little bit the left joycon, the joycon gets expelled without touching the button of his back. The other joycons seems to be working good and without loose grip until now. And because the console is used, some scratches are present on the controls and the back of the console and his dock, but that's expected when you bought a Nintendo Switch previously used. Besides this, I think this was a good bought.
PSA- This system DOES NOT come with the games. This is not like the Let's Go special edition. That being said, the price is mostly in the fact this is the OLED model of the switch... If you've yet to get a switch at all or looking to upgrade your base model, let me tell you... this screen is waaay easier on the eyes. It looks gorgeous. If switch is you main console and you like handheld gaming then the upgraded screen will not disappoint. Build quality in general feels way better then base switch also, many reviews on youtube for deep look at all the little upgrades.I haven't even mentioned this special edition's features like the art work, well, because you either like it or you don't. Unlike some other special editions that are very subtle in their new artwork, this edition goes all out and is very stylized, at least on the back of the console and on the front of the dock. So it's either your style of it isn't. Same with the colors of the joy-cons. I personally love the style and colors, so as a pokemon fan who didn't have an OLED model yet, this was a no-brainer.
I bought this for my 9 year old nephew. He is going to be super happy as he asked me to buy him switch this year. I told him “no” but really, he has this under my tree right now. I can’t wait to see his reaction when he opens it. He is one lucky kid as this is now sold out everywhere! The design itself is SO BEAUTIFUL. Personally I had the choice back in October to order this or splatoon. I obviously chose Pokémon as it’s way more popular AND because this is the newest edition for switch as of right now. Definitely don’t regret this purchase. Worth every penny. Thanks!
Pros: The games I've played so far all have that Nintendo playability. It's also great that you can play all the old Nintendo console classics. Love the ability to dock or use it as a handheld console. My daughter loves it and is constantly asking to play. Overall, it feels well built but only time will tell.Cons: It's a shame it's only 720p but for most games it's fine. The controller's aren't the easiest to use or get used to. Additional controllers for games where more than 2 people are playing are an extortionate price. Nearly a 3rd of the price of the entire console. It's early days yet but I found navigating the user interface a little bit clunky. That may just be me not quite used to it yet. It's a very expensive console for what it is but, you can't really ... The perfect "hyrbrid" handheld gaming console and Nintendo's best gaming system to date. Between its 6.2" LCD multi-touch display and its easily detachable, wireless Joy-Con controllers, Nintendo is exploring some very interesting, creative concepts with this device. Instead of directly facing off against the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One, the Switch represents an innovative, inventive new path in today's competitive gaming landscape. Nearly three years after its initial release, the Switch has amassed a robust collection of impressive first-party titles, ports of great games from the past, and a remarkably wide selection of solid indies, most of which give you the option of playing on a TV at home or as a portable device in the palm of your hands. And innovative titles like the recently released Animal Crossings New Horizons show there is seemingly no limit to Nintendo's creativity and the system's versatility. The system also has 32GB of internal storage, with support for microSD cards for up to 2TB of additional memory. Its online service can use some work, but still routinely receives updates to address any glaring issues. Despite its short battery life, I really like the Switch's portable mode option, which gives it an edge over the PS4 and XBox One. More importantly, it's built a fantastic library of must-play games from both Nintendo and other publishers. It regularly sees noteworthy new titles each year, and ports of older games that are given new life with the option to play them on the go. Overall, it's an impressive game console and an equally impressive handheld console. The home and portable experiences are equally fun with a large game library readily available on the system that are definitely worth your time, even if you're revisiting remastered/upgraded titles from the past. Side Note: I haven't owned a Nintendo system since the Gamecube (which launched over a decade ago), but I'm very satisfied and happy with my Switch purchase. Especially now, being self-quarantined at home and gaming to pass the time during this global pandemic. Pros: attractive, innovative design, excellent first and third party game library, solid build quality, Joy-Cons feel comfortable to use in multiple configurations, and having the option to play on the go or at home as a fully functional home game console. Cons: can't copy or transfer save files, short battery life, max resolution of 1080p, some controller options are uncomfortable, online service needs work, and the console's flimsy kickstand.
Love love love the design! Beyond happy when it got here, no damage; in great condition. waited to set it up today once the games released…only 2 hours into playing did the screen go black but the sound and all kept playing out. Turned it on and off, did a soft reset by holding power down for 30 seconds…would cut back on to the Nintendo startup screen only to go black. Battery was maybe at 50%. Well…I plugged it into the charger and had to do the 20second power trick and the screen would only stay on if it remained connected to the charger. Sucks I got a faulty one…I really loved.
