This game is enjoyable for any child. It's like having and owning a pet without actually having one. Children can do averything with their virtual pets that a person caould do with a real pet. It is really cute and occupies children for hours. It is probably perfect for that child with allergies that cannot own their own pet. I reccomend this to everyone.

Recently bought this game. After hours of looking for it, I came across dkoldies and was not disappointed. The game, case, and manual came in excellent condition as if it were brand new. Will be buying games from here in the future!

Don't get a male Chihuahua or you will be teaching the first command "Sit" forever! Especially if the kennel tells you he is "shy". Steer clear! I recommend The King Charles Cavalier he gets 8.5 out of 10 for appearance and 10/10 for contests! Here is how I rate the other first time adoptables in this game. For the Chihuahua I give it 9/10 for appearance and 8/10 for contests. Even worse in the contests if it is a shy male Chihuahua! By the way I LOVE Chihuahuas! I have one in real life a long hair black chi named Nina! She gets 100/10 for everything in my book but she’s not for sale! LOLBack to the adoptables rating scale, for the German Shepard I give him a 6/10 for appearance and a 9/ 10 in the contests. LOLBack to the adoptables rating scale, for the German Shepard I give him a 6/10 for appearance and a 9/ 10 in the contests. Sorry, I know they are beautiful dogs in real life but Nintendo did not do this magnificent breed any favors when crafting this ugly little puppy for the game world. For the Boxer I give him a 9.5 for appearance, more if you love boxers, and a definite 10/10 in the contests! This dog is smart and fast and agile! I recommend the Boxer as your first dog, even if you bought the game for the cute white Chihuahua on the cover like I did :) The Yorkshire Terrier gets 7/10 in appearance and 8/10 in contests. Now that you have some idea of the dogs you will be able to work with right off the bat I say choose carefully or you may end up hating the game because you get so frustrated at working with such a dumb but cute dog! Definitely never ever get a male dog because everytime you go for a walk (and you will be going for A LOT of walks) he will lift his leg and mark his territory every two feet. Stop and go stop and go urghhhhhhhhh don’t let him get away with it right from the start or you will have a very hard habit to break....If not an IMPOSSIBLE habit to break. They will just do it over and over again! GET A FEMALE!!! You’ll thank me later. Now for the Shetland Sheepdog...my sister-in-law has one of these beautiful dogs and she is just amazingly beautiful and smart! But not the Nintendogs version. It has short ugly hair and only gets 7/10 for appearance (sorry but I diddn’t make the game just stating the facts here) and only 8/10 in the contest arenas. I really love this game and I can’t wait to get 4,000 trainer points that’s when an “UNLOCKABLE” dog the Siberian Husky will come available for me to adopt! This is one of the many tips you will find online about this game and the other Nintendogs versions. For more tips go to WWW DOT neoseeker.com/resourcelink.html?rlid=145657&rid=134573The Siberian Husky got 10/10 for appearance! Good job Nintendo! And 11 out of 10 for the contest arenas! Of course you could just buy Nintendogs: Dachshund & Friends and you can adopt the Siberian Husky right from the beginning! If you are looking for the prettiest smartest dog go with the Siberian Husky! But if you have Chihuahua and Friends already, I recommend you adopt either The King Charles Cavalier Spaniel or The Boxer. They both score high in appearance and contests! But if you MUST adopt a Chihuahua make sure it is a female!Have Fun!!! Pam & Nina

I got this for my kiddo. The game cartridge is in good shape and the case and instruction booklet were all included and in great shape. She loves getting to take care of her puppy on the game and I don't have to constantly tell her that she can't have a puppy. She is not able to read yet so that has created some issues with her figuring out the game but that's not really the game's issue.
I had this game when I was younger and lost all of my DS, GameCube and retro game stuff in a storage unit when we moved out of state. A lot of that stuff is worth a lot of money now. My mom couldn't afford to pay the bill any longer, and that's the last I heard of that. Im 25 now and I've been trying to regather everything that I had. Just loaded up the game, and it works great! Plus it was CIB. Thanks again!
I bought this for my daughter for Christmas. I played it to see what it is like and OMG! This has got to be the sweetest game ever! The dogs will come up to the screen to you when you say their name! You can teach your dog to do all kinds of tricks when you say them. You take your dog to shows and competitions and win money and other things. Each game has the ability to unlock all 16 breeds of dogs too. So the more you play the bigger the game becomes, so to speak. It is easy to understand and there is a Help area in the game so if you need help you dont have to always have the manual with you as it is built into the game. It is a great game for children 7 and up.
The game came pretty quickly which is nice. I was a little worried because the game card has something loose inside it when I shake it so that was concerning. But the game works fine. Sometimes if put in the game a certain way the game wont show up on the menu but its an easy fix. Good nostalgic game. Fun to play.
My daughter received this game as a Christmas present and she loves it. The puppies are so life-like and each puppy has its own personality. You start out by getting a puppy from the kennel. You choose the breed of the puppy and then decide male or female. Each puppy is a different color than the others and have different personalities. (As I said earlier.) After you get the puppy you then teach it its name using the microphone. You say it over and over until it learns its name. For my daughter, it didn't take long for the puppy to learn its name. Then after the puppy learns its name you teach it how to sit. That was the hardest part for my daughter, but it wasn't too hard. (She is 12.) Then after that you are free to do what you want. This game is great for all age groups and it teaches the kids responsibility. I recommend this game highly.

I tried this game as an adult, its still a pretty interesting casual game to play. You just need a few minutes per day to take care of your dogs, a lot of breeds can be unlocked and they all look so darn adorable. The voice response could be better, once your dog learns more than 4 tricks, he messes up the commands a lot. It can get annoying... I say "down" and the dog gives the paw and when I say "beg" the dog lays down. UGH. I'm testing the new 3DS nintendogs next and I really hope they fixed that.
