So the things to focus on with this light besides the obvious shape difference is the lock out modes, oled screen, and button interface, since there the most different things here. The lock out modes feel kind of mandatory to use since this light can pretty easily turn on in your pocket. Whether you wanna see it as excessive, smart, unecessary, or whatever, they do at least help. Which brings us to the buttons, the patterns for mode switching have a learning curve, the buttons are definitely sensitive/ easy to press, which does kinda make the process easier to learn, but definitely contributes to it, again, accidentally turning on, hence the lock out modes. The oled screen does make both of these easier to work with since it pretty clearly displays all the modes and how charged it is.So, this light's design is at least pretty aware of its own drawbacks. Its new, its different, but it knows its not perfect. Which is better than a lot of other flashlights can say. Each part has a weakness and the other parts try to cover for it. Personally, i think it does this well enough to make it a good light, but i can understand why people can lose their patience with it. Its great if you wanna put the time in to learn it, not so great the first couple times you use it or if you need something that just works. It asks a lot of you, but it has a lot to offer.

Because of the high output, you should always lock the light when pocketing it. But to lock and unlock this light is way too cumbersome, for 4 reasons. The first is that you have to use just the amount of pressure to press or press and hold hold the half-press position, which ismtoo difficult. Second, you have to look at the light's display to make sure you reach level 2 lockout, or to make sure you got the half press then half-press and hold just right. Third, it takes deliberate concentration and practice to do all of this just right--and even then you screw it up half the time. WHY can't it just be something like a triple-click or full press and hold to lock and unlock? It would be among the best flashlights light ever made.

Loved the light at first but the buttons started acting up a bit after a month or so. It stays in my pocket at all times, and I use it all day everyday for work as well as home. I used a streamlight wedge for years prior to this. I've had it about 4-5 months & it finally quit on me. Started with the buttons tripping out & now it acts as if its on with no light emitted. It came on in my pocket but I didn't know & it completely melted my ear bud case. Now it puts out little to no light with modes backwards. I loved the light & recommended it to many prior to the failures. I will likely buy another wedge from here on out.
