Crystal clear viewing

I bought this for birdwatching specifically, and I am wowed at the quality. The image you see is crystal clear and super easy to focus. I spotted birds at the tops of trees across a river, and could even see new blossoms on the trees in perfect clarity. also I accidentally dropped it on a rock and it proved to be very durable; no damage whatsoever. strongly recommend!

Excellent glass, narrow eye relief

I wasn't sure how this monocular would perform given the price, but thought I'd give a go as I've always wanted a monocular. I hike and bird watch and travel locally, and this is a great tool for those purposes. It's got clear, non-distorting glass and feels bomb-proof in the hand. Seriously well constructed. The overall eye relief is narrow, but the extendable eyepiece frames your eye at the perfect eye relief when touching the piece to your brow. Also, I really appreciate the threaded mount at the bottom!

Good for things that aren’t moving

I bought this to take up less space in my luggage to go to Bali. Last minute I decided to bring both my monoc and my binocs. I ended up using my binocs for everything. The view with monocs aren’t that great, especially compared to my 10x42 binocs. And tracking a flying bird is definitely harder with the monoc. Another time, I brought the monoc to a big stadium concert and they worked decent for that. Ultimately I returned them though. I would rather sacrifice space for bigger binocs and have better viewing with better clarity.

Great, but beware included strap.
1 August 2022

I bought this to avoid having to pack bulky binoculars on vacation. I now prefer this to my Celestron binoculars, even though the binoculars have a larger field of view. The light weight and ease of use just make this monocular so enjoyable to use that I don’t mind the smaller field of view. This monocular remained fog free when the humidity fogged up my binoculars. The only downside was the included strap. It unraveled while I was using my monocular at Bryce Canyon National Park. I feel very fortunate this happened on a sidewalk before I got to the overlook, because it could have tumbled to the bottom. Despite the drop on the concrete, my monocular is fine with no sign of damage. I now have the neck strap, which is fortunately much better quality!

Handy Little (Compact) Monocular
23 December 2021

This monocular certainly serves its purpose. The size and weight of the monocular are its best features. It is super easy to use with one hand and quickly adjusts to zoom in on whatever you are looking at. I used it for a few hikes in the mountains and in my backyard to look at birds and other wildlife. I had not previously used a monocular (I typically used binoculars), and this is a way more convenient way to see nature. It might just be me, but I also like how much easier it is for me to zoom in on objects than it is with binoculars, which I often struggle with.In the future, this will be a great device to pack for backpacking/hiking trips, and I won't fret about added weight because it is noticeably light. I will also use this during my future adventure races to spot various map features - I can't confirm yet how helpful this will be, but I can't think of a downside to trying it, again the weight is minimal. I will throw this in my golf bag to zoom in on course features during a round.Overall, I am happy with the product, and I'm glad I was given the chance to be introduced to a monocular. It's not something I normally would have considered buying, but now I'm a convert. Based on its case build and waterproof rating, I suspect this device will hold up well and will last me a really long time!

Highly portable, great optical quality
26 December 2021

I've been wanting a pair of binoculars for sometime now. We often hike in remote areas and love seeing wildlife. Birdwatching is also something I've always been interested in. This product fills so many spaces in our hiking and overlanding kit. One amazing feature is the locking eye tube on the rear, which for someone with good vision, sets the focal distance nearly perfect for a quick ring turn to get things sharp. We often keep this near our sink to peep the bird feeders to see what is visiting us during different times of the year. One recent trip we took this on, we happened upon a large juvenile moose who was shedding his antler fur. Standing 50 yards from our Wrangler we were able to quickly bring out the Nocs optic and nail sharp focus with our smartphone ... MoreI've been wanting a pair of binoculars for sometime now. Standing 50 yards from our Wrangler we were able to quickly bring out the Nocs optic and nail sharp focus with our smartphone through the optic. Made for some awesome pictures. I haven't gotten around to converting it from HEIC to post on the review. But trust me when I say it looks much better than using the standard telephoto smartphone lens. This unique feature is something I had never considered out of a product, but was hinted at in the fun packaging that the monocular came in. We look forward to using this for years to come and love everything about the 8x32 ratio. If you need something light and effective, look no further.

Monocular is great, accessories meh

This is a cute and practical monocular, and it works well. It's easy to hold, thanks to the grippy texture and the asymmetric design. The focus knob is positioned so it's easy to turn with your thumb or middle finger of the same hand you're holding it with, and the feel is just right. It has no slack, and stays where you put it.8x32 is just the right lens for it. It's nice and bright, and long enough to see good detail, but still short enough that you can handhold with one hand. 10x gets too shaky for me.The packaging is very nice: plain cardboard. (No plastic clamshells!) They don't seem to label the outside of the box, though, so the poor REI employee has to open every box to find the right color. That also explains why some people who bought online got the wrong one. What's not so great? The strap is a teeny buckle which is always flopping around and starting to undo itself. Every other device I own has solved this by using a solid loop, to girth-hitch through a hole. I don't know why Nocs went with an obviously inferior design. At least it's easy to replace. It comes with a small thin bag which doesn't seem to provide any real protection to the lenses. It would have been nice to have some kind of lens cap option. Need to find a better case.I wish it had a belt clip. (They sell a quick-release plate, but it costs as much as the monocular itself!) There is a 1/4-20 thread, though, so I can always make one myself. The gadget itself is great. You just might want to replace all the accessories. But I think it's still the best monocular in this price range.

No response to warranty claim & not as advertised
23 January 2024

Works fine until it doesn't. The first one I had had a little dirt or grit in the mechanism. Just sitting in my pack, not rolling on the ground. As I tried to move the focus wheel the connector snapped and they were toast. I reached out to the company and they sent me a replacement. This one got wet in my pack 1st trip out and is now ruined. Have been trying to get a replacement for over a month with no response. Emailed and ghosted. Called the phone number, voicemail box was full and no response. Be aware the zoom tube is not only not waterproof (which they say if you understand the IPX ratings) but they are highly susceptible to water and dirt intrusion. Was hopeful but I'd save your money and pick a different brand! The warranty isn't much use if they don't answer...

Nocs Solar eclipse review
15 April 2024

We bought this with the solar eclipse lens to view the 2024 eclipse and it outperformed the solar eclipse binoculars we had bought specifically for the event. The Nocs was easy to hold up to look at the sky, provided a more natural yellowish orange view of the sun (rather than stark white of the binoculars) and easier for those with prescription glasses to focus and see. The best part was that we can use the monocular for multi uses for regular viewing while the binoculars are now stored in hopes of seeing another eclipse. Great value for its use!

Works great, exceeds expectations
29 May 2023

Mine works great, optics crisp, no complaints and exceeded expectations. I love the ergonomics, the bump-out with the focus knob also works to help steady it, and having the focus knob separate from the eyepiece I find much more functional. It is bigger than I expected, but I and other family members find it easy to hold, steady, and zero in on your subject. I like that it has a tripod mount for a camera tripod or monopod/walking stick. I previously had a LL Bean monocular that pales in comparison to the Nocs. My only quibble is that it only comes with a wrist band and not a neck lanyard (I swapped one off my former monocular). A great way to spend your dividend or use with the annual anniversary sale discounts.
