I’m a trail runner always in search of “the shoe”. Needless to say, I have a closet full of various road and trail shoes. My favorite brands are Salomon and On and I prefer a snugger shoe. I don’t require nor do I like a plush Hoka ride. Due to an injury early in 2023 and 6 months off of running I thought I’d branch out and hook up a new pair of kicks to get me back into running form. Given the outstanding reviews (aside from the price) I decided to grab a pair of Norda 002. I loved them! The reviews and comments on the 001 were maybe even better than the 002 (except for the heel lock down) so given my happiness with the 002 and a sale I splurged and hooked up a pair. Well, I love them more than the 002!!! Let me give you my take on the “Bond shoes” after about 10 runs in each (trail, road, races).1. The 002 is lighter and has slightly less drop and is probably a better race shoe and good for short to mid distance runs.2. The 002 has a thinner yet cushioned sole and thus you feel a little more under foot. I feel little to nothing under foot in the 001 and they are a really smooth ride.3. There is more room in the toe box of the 002 than the 001. I have the same size in both and the 002 feels has less room up front and feels smaller.4. Again, the 001 is roomier but not wide (I’m kind of a mid sized width foot).5. Size up! If you have some shoes that are 11 in a brand and some 11.5 in the same brand go with the 11.5 in the Norda! When in doubt size up!. (Maybe even consider a FULL size in the 002).6. The heel lockdown. If the shoe is the correct size it is not an issue and I get a really good (90-95%) lockdown. However, my right foot is a half size smaller and I get about an 80-85% lockdown even with additional lacing, etc. Thicker trail socks help. Speaking of socks…difficult to wear a thick trail sock in the 002 size for size. It can be done but its snugggg!7. Both shoes are great in mud, wet roads, pavement, rocks, dirt or whatever and the wider outsole is very stable.8. 001 is a more cushioned ride but still feels pretty light and durable and would be a great shoe to go long in.9. Both look awesome! My wife just about sleeps in them (she has a Lilac 001 pair).10. I love the feel of the upper and I don’t know if its waterproof but it holds water out quite well.I really like my Salomon S/lab Ultra 3 and On Cloudultra but I’m a Norda fan now. The reports are that they may last twice as long as many other shoes which would make them a good value. They are expensive, so look for markdowns and sales and make sure you size up. Both 00 make for a great running experience.

Super excited to give these a spin. Being one of the few shoes on the market that has a Vibram midsole along with a fully Dyneema upper. After the 300-mile mark on rough and rocky east coast trails, I can confidently say these are taking a beating and have no sign of slowing down. Little to no wear on the sole, upper, or toe cap. Zero compression after long days on the feet and they grip like no other, One of the few shoes that I've recently tried that I can put my full confidence in when cooking downhill.Sizing is a bit tricky. I am a size 12 in almost all other brands ( Hoka, Salomon, Saucony, Altra ect ) and these fit but only with very thin socks. Any trail-based thickness socks like darn tough create sizing issues. I would most likely bump up a half size next ... MoreSuper excited to give these a spin. Being one of the few shoes on the market that has a Vibram midsole along with a fully Dyneema upper. With a Dyneema upper, they don't breathe super well and have zero drain ports on the side of the shoes. Would and will buy again.##BackcountryGearhead

The shoes the perhaps best quality shoe I have seen in ages. Great looks, attention to details. Beyond words. It’s the Range Rover of trail shoes.Awesome sticky outsole, upper is made of super strong fabric and laces are strong. The insoles is made of boost kind of material to give you super comfort and energy return. The insole is thick and plush. The insole itself would cost like 20 bucks anyway under the sun.The fit of shoe is comfortable with good Vibram midsole cushion, it’s soft and bouncy. The tie Baid has lots of space and you don’t feel suffocating. It comes with a shoe bag.

Excellent All-Rounder with a Few Small Caveats
16 June 2022

I've run about 200km in these shoes, so the review can only speak to durability and performance up to that point. I think what will really make this a 5-star shoe is if they last as long as they are claimed to, between 1000-1400km, and which will 100% justify the cost of entry. To start, I found the sizing a bit confusing. I went up a half-size per Norda's own recommendation, but wish I'd stayed true as I find the shoe fairly voluminous and wide, which, for a narrow-footed runner like myself, means more sliding around than is typically desirable. I like my trail shoes snug, even on long outings. This has been accommodated for by wearing slightly thicker socks, but when I get my next pair (spoiler), I will stay true to size. The wider size definitely allows for more feet to fir the shoe, but certainly something to note when buying before trying.Enough has been written about how beautiful the shoes are, and they are even more striking in person, so I won't delve into that despite affirming the consensus, and stating how refreshing it is for a company to make a performance shoe that doesn't look simply abject. One thing to note is how simple and minimal the shoe really is. There's hardly anything to them, and when I first pulled them out the box, it was sort "is that it?". Pretty remarkable how comfy they are despite how insubstantive they are materially. The things run very smoothly, and are exceptionally comfortable. The midsole is dreamy, and this is by far the best "road to trail" shoe I've ever worn, providing way more comfort on harder pack surfaces than most stiffer trail shoes. With that in mind, some might find the shoe too soft, and I certainly won't be reaching for this come alpine running/scrambling season, as I want something with a little bit less give for edging and scree/talus bashing. The traction truly is incredible, both on wet and loose surfaces and slick rocks, which inspires nothing but confidence. I do find the stack to be a little too high for some super technical descends, for the shoe feels a bit unstable and prone to rolling. This could be a preference thing, but worth noting. They absolutely surf across most surfaces however, and on more runnable trails, they're tough to beat.In terms of durability, so far after 200km of predominately (95%) trail running, there is very little noticeable wear. Tread is in good shape, no nicks or cuts in the Dyneema upper, as you'd expect and hope. Laces are also excellent; maybe my favourite laces ever on a shoe? A small detail, but one that is very noticeable. The one major con of this shoe relates to breathability/drainage/drying. Basically, they do no breathe well at all, they drain an imperceptible amount and they are far and away the slowest drying shoe I have ever owned. If you're in the desert or drier climes, with the exception of ventilation, this is not as big a concern, but I live in the PNW, and these things need very attentive and diligent post-run care if I want to pull them on dry for the next day's outing.I think this has to do with the nature of the beast (namely, Dyneema itself) and less the design, but something to consider. Perhaps some drainage hole could be a smart inclusion for future models. All in all, an excellent and refreshing entry into the world of trail shoes, and one absolutely worth biting the initial bullet for up front. Highly recommend, and I'll be buying another pair when these (eventually!) wear out.

Great Shoes
18 January 2024

A little expensive at first glance but these are outstanding. I don’t actually have much experience trail running, I’m just getting into it, but I’ve used these for running in ice and snow and the traction has been outstanding.Only about 100km on them but so far no complaints, build quality is terrific and will probably buy another pair when these get run down. But I wouldn’t be shocked if I get 1,000 km or moreDoes run a bit small, I’ve got normal feet and went half a size up for a perfect fit

The upper will probably last forever,

Still going strong!
15 February 2024

So far these Nordas have been awesome! I’ve raced them in Western NC and have put about 300 miles in one pair. They still feel like new and the tread looks great! These are perfect for those longer run/hike days and feel pretty quick when needing to pick it up on race day. Last run I did had a 5 mile downhill on packed gravel. These shoes allowed me to cruise down with no issues. Like Norda suggests, I bought a half size up and they fit great. Usually an 11, bought an 11.5. I also just went with my euro size, which remained the same in the shoe. If I had to have one annoying thing, it would be the pull tab on the heel. Sometimes little rocks or dirt gets into the shoe there and gets trapped under the foot. But I like these so much that I just ordered the 002 model ... MoreSo far these Nordas have been awesome! I’m less than 100 miles in, but these shoes have been great so far. The toe box is wide without being sloppy, the vibram midsole/outsole combination provides a responsive, grippy ride while still allowing for a decent amount of trail feel given the stack height. No foot fatigue on longer runs. The upper has been good so far as well. I have several packs and miscellaneous items for traveling that are made out of dyneema and I have used them for over 12 years with zero failures, so the dyneema upper that Norda uses caught my attention. So far, so good. They do require some break in, but it was worth the time and effort. I haven’t run in anything but these since I got them. Waterproofness: VERY water resistant, but not quite waterproof. Personally this is the sweet spot since Gore Tex shoes tend to make my feet sweaty even when running in the winter. Ticks that box for me.Fit: very small on my feet. I'm usually a 9.5US in running shoes. Had to buy 10.5 since the 10 were too snug. I recommend buying a few sizes and return the pair that won't fit. It can be tricky to lace them in a way that your heel won't slip, a simple runners loop did it for me. There isn't much padding but I wear thick socks.Performance: Great grip, better than my salomons. The midsole is a bit bouncy but not too much, I like it so far. First of all, I was disappointed that it came without the original box. In order to get the original box, I have to return the shoes after chatting with an agent which I am not happy about it .Why would I have to pay return shipping for someone else mistake? Well, enough for that. So be careful when you place an order.Let’s talk about the shoe. Norda did it. This is definitely a shoe I would recommend to anyone. I love the one piece dyneema fabric design, wide toe-box, super lightweight and the vibram megagrip.Overall, I give 3 stars just because of the disappointing customer service. This is my first review and it could be my last in here.
