NordicTrack S22i Studio Bike

This is my second NordicTrack product following a treadmill and my first cycle equipment. I was trying to decide between this bike and the Peloton. Some key features are the fact that I can use my iFit membership, the treadmill has automatic incline/decline modes, and also the iFit outdoor trainer videos. I love using the outdoor cycling videos because iFit does a great job of motivating you and giving you informative information of the location. Yes the seat is somewhat hard, but I am pretty sure that anyone new to cycling has to give their body time to adjust. This bike was also pretty easy to assemble for one person and the directions were straightforward. 100% Recommend if you're under 178cm

Long but hopefully useful review.If you are a cyclist (and under 177cm then) and your comparing this to the Peleton, this has a way more to offer you.TL:DR Tall guy (192cm / 89cm in seam) 6'4" / 35" issue after the big gap.Bought the bike last year, direct from NordicTrack. It works well. I also use Zwift on bike mounted trainer. The bike works as advertised, The variety of programs are engaging and varied (spin classes, weight work outs, yoga and just bike rides). My whole family (2 adult children at home) enjoy it as well. I did find the resitance a bit light for myself (I am an experienced strong cyclist). You can adjust this internally, but it takes some effort. I did and I am happier with the range. Initially it felt like there was no resistance b/n steps 1 and 8 (tested by timing to stop from 60rpm and there was finally a drop about 0.5 sec and 1/2 a crank rotation, at 8 it was another second slower and free spin more than a 1 full rotation less. Step 9 the resistance change was actually noticeable. It is internally adjustable, quite easily, but getting at it is an effort. Set it so the change in effort is noticeable at step 4.Really, really love the potential of the raising and lower front end. Makes the "actual bike rides" you can do very engaging. Built in fans are a super feature as well. The system connected to both AirPods and non-apple earbuds well. During "spin classes' it was, ok.... The music, at least on the "rides", which is your choice, however I shut off 105 of the time, and ran an external speaker.If you are a cyclist ordering this after trying a trainer you mount your bike on (commonly called a mag or wind trainer) be aware the way this is built does not allow you to coast. You can NOT abruptly stop pedaling! You have to move the pedals and slow down (or use the brake). This applies to all "Spin bike" style exercise bikes. If you are thinking of getting this style of bike I recommend going to a gym that has "Spin Bikes" and ask to just try pedaling one so it really makes sense.So why only 4 stars? I simply couldn't use it to its full potential, because I don't fit. The "Rides" you can do are amazing, as I said and the raise and lower feature makes even better but....The handle bars move up and down (pretty much straight, BUT they have not fore / aft adjustments because of the screen. ALL of these style of bikes with the mounted screen have only up & down handle bar adjustment. So ALL of the fit for reach (how far you sit from the handle bar) is controlled at the seat. If you are up to 5'10" (178cm) (my one daughters height) you are just ok. If you are over 6 feet (182) you start ending up way back on from the pedals (which if you cycle regularly feels horrid). I stuck to flat routes, but the position I was in was so bad it started to cause knee pain. and when you stand to pedal your knees get close to the bars. mine actually graze them (35in inseam) when the bike is flat, and I stood straight up on the pedals. When I leaned forward at all, as you tend to with more effort. I had to constantly monitor my postiton The minute the front end raises forget standing at all. And I am so far forward I can't see the screen , which matters because the setting for the rides are were fantastic (Whistler, Iceland, Hawaii, Utah, Italy, the Caribbean Like your following a guide, very cool) So yeah, the best feature of the machine is useless to me.Of note all versions of this and the new versions of this bike use the a nearly identical frame (most lower models don't have the raise and lower feature) just bigger screens. And all bikes of this style (screen mounted on the bike) don't allow for forward / backward movement of the handlebar, including Peleton, BowFlex, etc...

Horrible products

I own the commercial 2450 treadmill and the s22i. They are horribly built. When you call for service you will sit on a call for hours. The treadmill breaks every year and forced me to purchase and extended warranty or basically I would be forced to throw away 2k. Consol burned out twice and the motor is no longer working. The bike continues to have software and hardware issues. It will shut off mid ride or pause in the middle of workouts. Just absolutely trash for the amount of money you are spending. Just go buy a peloton.

More Glitchy Than a Gas Station Cell Phone

If you have infinite time to cycle power until Bluetooth connects or enjoy doing 20 mins of a 30 mins workout only to have the system reset and dump your workout, then this is the bike for you. However, if you have any sort of a schedule, like say... a job, then you're probably not going to enjoy the constant power cycles required to gain full functionality or completing 2/3 of a workout before it shuts down. We have contacted Norditrack multipke times and they have told us the machine is functioning properly. Save yourself the money and buy one those old school fan bikes at a garage sale to hang your laundry on because that is all this bike is good for. Admittedly, the random incline feature is pretty cool. I found the instruction at the top of the box with all the hardware needed to assemble the bike. They provided an allen key, so I didn't need any of my own tools for assembly. All the parts came together with no fuss. My wife and I were able to assemble the bike in about an hour with three extra helpers. (Two kids and dogs slowed us down)The trainer lead content on the bike from iFit is wide and all-encompassing. What kind of workouts do you like? Spin workouts lead by a motivated trainer? Scenic rides over mountain passes? Mountain bike rides down amazing trails in picturesque location? Check, check, check and check. This bike has all the rides you could ever want in locations you may never get to visit. You can choose from a variety of skill levels and intensities to meet your fitness level. A feature that I liked a lot was that many of the workouts were part of a series lead by the same trainer. So, if you found a trainer you like you could keep going in a series of workouts with them.

Really Enjoying This Product!

I was given this product for a reduced price in exchange for my honest and unbiased opinion. I received the bike about 3 weeks ago and have completed several rides now. I have been loving it so far. I've really been enjoying the guided rides and the auto adjusting functionality. This allows for automatic adjustment of your incline/decline and resistance to mimic the guided ride. It's really helped me focus more on the ride rather than fussing with the machine and getting frustrated. It's also helped me to feel like I'm continuing to be challenged during the whole ride. The bike has a fan that feels SO great when you really start working up a sweat. You'll definitely want a second person to assist you here and there especially when mounting the screen.Overall a very user friendly bike that provides challenging rides from beginner all the way to advanced.

Shoddy build, poor quality, very disappointing

Purchased mid November, delivered mid December. It's now Jan 2nd and I've only had one ride. A true important warning: the bike body itself weighs a ton, so be very careful moving it.Some really unacceptable issues: (1) A wire was preinstalled in the bike frame in the reverse orientation, I had to release it, remove it and it's companion wire from the bike frame, then flip and rewire it through the bike housing. This took me 2 hours to figure out and fix. (2) The rear stabilizer had poorly machined screw holes, and I needed order a replacement. It did come, but it was very confusing as to who was handling this issue ICON or ICON of Canada. Another hour or so dealing with this (3) Signed up for iFit family package, but it was not activated on my iFit account for ... MorePurchased mid November, delivered mid December. Superior quality, something for everybody, and great value.

After much research between the top models from each manufacturer I purchased the Nordictrack Commercial S22i Studio Cycle. I purchased and picked up (from The Colony, TX store) the same day. The assembly was relatively easy and can be done by one person. Two is better. Everything worked perfectly on the first try. It only took a few minutes to set up the iFIT accounts for all five members of our family. One of the great things is that there is something different for each of us. I have two sons (24 and 21) on active duty in the Army who were home for Christmas. Both are also former wrestlers and in absolute top physical condition. It is difficult to find workouts to challenge them. The studio cycle and iFIT succeeded. There are workouts to challenge me without crushing my spirit. In the middle is my wife, who has been an avid cyclist for years. A couple of years ago we moved to the country and it just isn't safe for her to ride like she used to. With iFIT, she can now ride anywhere in the world and she is never alone. Finally, there is my 16 year old daughter. She has been active in cheer and dance her whole life but neither of those really challenge her to push her physical limits. The Studio Cycle with iFIT is something that she can grow into with no limits.

Sure happy I bought this bike over its competitor

After having used my S22i bike everyday now, for almost 3 months, I must admit that I really do love the iFIT feature that allows one to follow the rider on trails, and country or city tours, with the bike automatically responding to inclines up and down, and the wheel tension adjusting. It really does keep the activity of exercise fun and interesting.Why else would one want to invest in a stationery bike with a large screen? It's not a show-stopper as I looked at the issue very carefully and there's no way it could ever break due to the heavy-duty steel construction. It's just that the tolerance of the post fitting into the steel sleeve is a little too large for the sleeve itself. I had to add some small sheet metal shims to stop the wobble.I've also read complaints about the speakers and music not being as good as that from the other company, but quite frankly, I always use my Bluetooth headphone connected to my music app, so no concern about it here.

The best way to train!

This bike is great for race training or every day rides. I love that I can create my own maps so that I am able to bike around my nearby lake or train for an upcoming race. The streaming has been seamless and fast for a clean uninterrupted workout every time. The automatic incline/decline feature during workout provides a great change of pace to keep the rides interesting. The ability to connect my Bluetooth headphones straight to the bike to keep my workout quiet is awesome since I workout usually while my kids are asleep. The crystal clear picture of the touchscreen makes you feel like you really are all over the world.
