Changed my skin

This product is amazing. It truly changed my skin along with Fish Oil supplementation. There are a few studies that show it working well for wrinkles, but I saw a pretty good decrease in acne and just this beautiful redness to my skin. I will be repurchasing. 4 stars because I wish it came in a higher dose.

Nutricost is always a reliable brand. Take for skin improvements and antioxidants. No taste. Size of capsule is small and easy to swallow.

This was the best price I could find for 12mg of astaxanthin. I find that when I take this, my skin tone becomes slightly more tan, without having any sun exposure. I love this, since I like to avoid sun exposure to my face, to prevent photo aging. At the same time, I love being in the sun during the nicer months, since I can literally feel the energizing effects of the sun making contact with my skin (increased nitric oxide production, increased bio active vitamin D, etc.), and astaxanthin reduces the damage done by UV rays (and hence, risk of cancer and skin aging). If you're going to go into the sun, make sure you've taken these for at least a week; despite the high dose, you need to "load" on the dose for it to be effective.

Intestinal Pain
27 January 2021

Within two days of taking this product my intestines started to become very achy. I was massaging my abdomen. Then my back started hurting. I could not fall asleep until 2am! This continued for two more days until I realized it was Nutricost Astaxanthin 12MG. That night I did not take it. I fell asleep at 11 PM as normal. And by the second day my back and intestines stopped aching. My mother takes this and has had good results. Clearly it’s not for every B O D Y.

My blood pressure control was negatively affected!
17 July 2020

I take medication for blood pressure control and this brand seemed to impact that, with my systolic number rising an average of 20 mm. However, my husband also took this brand and had no I'll effects. Hi doesn't take any blood pressure prescription and has excellent BP readings. When I switched back to the BioAstin brand, my BP readings returned to normal.

NO GLOW
11 February 2021

This astaxanthin didn't give my skin the really nice healthy glow (or in other words, a light tan) that my regular, although pricier, brand did. So I've decided to go back to using my regular favorite brand, the BioAstin brand. I took the same dose of this Nutricost astaxanthin as I did when I used the BioAstin brand, which was 12mg.But this Nutricost brand gave my caucasian Swedish skin absolutely no glow at all. So it's ineffective for the purpose for which I use it, which is to protect myself from sun damage and skin cancers.I do use other Nutricost supplements and they work great (Gamma-AminoButyric Acid, or "GABA", for instance) and the value can not be beat. So I naturally had high hopes for Nutricost's astaxanthin. But, unfortunately, this product is a ... MoreThis astaxanthin didn't give my skin the really nice healthy glow (or in other words, a light tan) that my regular, although pricier, brand did. I thought I could save some money on astaxanthin, but no.Turns out this is one of those supplements where you really do get what you pay for.

Potentiates NKO, Neptune Krill Oil. I had super anti-inflammatory results reducing my chronic pain.
10 June 2019

I take 2,000mg 100% NKO with 12mg Astaxanthan. For me it is a better anti-inflammatory than any prescription. My SED rate went from over 95 to under 20 within a few months. Pain rate went from 9 to 3 within 4 days. I actually could quit using my wheelchair.

Seems to work well
27 July 2019

I actually already reviewed this. Perhaps it didn't take. Previous review was shortly after I began using the product (which arrived on time and in good condition). Now, I have a better idea of how it compares with the brand I'd been taking before. These softgels are larger and firmer than the other brand. Good news. Because the softgels in the other brand would sometimes stick together in hot weather. These do not seem to do so.As to overall effectiveness. I notice no difference. Good news, also. It means I can get an equally-effective dose of astaxanthin, in a sturdier less-volatile softgel, for less money. Yay. That pleases me.

Softgel is a Deep Red
12 April 2019

I was reluctant to purchase this brand based on the image that shows these not as softgels, which - as of April 12, 2019 anyway - they are. Expiration of mine is 12/2020 but because I plan to take daily, I'll be finished up before then. I love the bargain of these at .25 cents per day, and no soybean oil as an excipient but rather safflower, MCT, and Vitamin E. My next goal is to see what other anti-oxidants I can do away with. After taking my first one today, not sure if it's my imagination but my eyes feel clearer. We've had a terrible pollen season and I've been suffering blurry eyes but as I type this, not even the remote problem with eyes. I'm planning on Mexico next week so my goal is to prep my skin against UV damage by taking this Astaxanthin which began as ... MoreI was reluctant to purchase this brand based on the image that shows these not as softgels, which - as of April 12, 2019 anyway - they are. This product is a part of a very well balanced regime that keeps me lean and healthy.
4 January 2020

I use this product in conjunction with a few others to help sustain a healthy weightloss. I cannot exercise because of Intracranial Hypertension. So by taking this product, and two others, it has allowed my muscles to balance weightloss on very efficient scale. My doctors are constantly telling me how amazed they are by health.
