I LOVE that the watermelon Nuun instant tastes AND smells like cotton candy; and how quickly it dissolvesIInitially, I didnt think the packet in 16 oz of water would be enough electrolytes to power me through 4 days of riding in Kentucky, with my friend, who’s riding across the USA on the trans America trail; but I was SO Wrong!I loaded up my Nuun instant on my first ride, and didn’t realize how much I LOVED Nuun instant; So much So that I couldnt drink my regular Nuun sport, 🤷‍♀️ Sorry! There is no waiting on the tab to dissolve, no splashes in the face after opening the bottle, and it was well over 85 degrees, humid and climbing hill grades that I’m unaccustomed to, so I was sweating more than normal. I've experimented with a lot of different brands of hydration solutions. Everything from coconut water to flat soda to name brands like NUUN. I would say NUUN, in general, works better than most products but it isn't the greatest that's out there. In general, the Lemon-Lime flavor worked as advertised. It helps you keep your electrolytes balanced on shorter runs, during a regular work day, and as a recovery drink. For longer runs, I'd recommend a different brand but for something shorter, this works just fine. When running, the package is easy to transport, the powder stays dry, and it's easy to open and dump into your water bottle. Unlike the drink mixes sold in tablets, you are left with packaging to throw away each time you mix a bottle. My only complaint ... MoreI've experimented with a lot of different brands of hydration solutions. It has a strong, acidic taste leaving you feel like you had a sip of Lemon-Lime Pledge instead of Lemon-Lime NUUN. Based on the NUUN I've had in the past, this is one of the stronger flavors and could easily be watered down. After a few bottles over a few days, you do get a little used to the sharp flavor but there are better Lemon-Lime products out there. And NUUN has better flavors out there too. I'd recommend the Tri-Berry for a smoother, milder drink.

First of all, I love NUUN products and use them a lot. I've used their tabs (not this product) for years on backpacking/alpine trips and they work great. This is the first time I've used the individual instant packets. Both are great products, and essentially do the same thing but in different ways.So what's the difference? Basically, this is the product you take when you have gotten yourself into a situation where you know you're dehydrated and you need to replenish your electrolytes ASAP. The tablets are more for 'proactive' hydration, whereas these are 'reactive'.In a way, this is similar to why some first aid kits have 'hydration salts' in them: rapid rehydration. NUUN just does it more stylishly, and with better taste. So how would I use them, and in what ... MoreFirst of all, I love NUUN products and use them a lot. I'd probably still use the tabs for regular use while in the backcountry since they are lighter and more compact BUT I'd also take one or two of these to supplement in case I needed a quick fix after a super hard climb on a hot day where I lose a lot of water weight. These packets are a little heavier and much bulkier than the tabs, but they pack a bigger punch too so it's a trade-off.At the end of the day, this is a nice niche product in my hydration arsenal now.

I've been a big fan of Nuun for a while now, and it's my go-to beverage during long training runs or anytime I need a little extra help in the hydration department. I had the opportunity to test out the new watermelon flavor, and all things considered, it's pretty good. Full disclosure, watermelon is not my first flavor choice, but I'm always open to trying flavors. For those who are familiar with the mustard and watermelon challenge from 2021, it's similar in that this Nuun is a little more of a salty watermelon flavor. - which is weird, but it works! I definitely recommend it for anyone who's a fan of watermelon, but I also highly recommend the brand overall for anyone who needs electrolytes on a run or after a late night. Ugh, I just don't drink enough water because I don't like it. So adding something to give it a bit of flavor is a must, and adding something with electrolytes to aid in hydration is even better. I've been a NUUN user for a few years now. I am a wildland firefighter and hiker and I carry the tablets (Sport, Active) in my pack. This is the first time I've tried the instant packets and I'm sold! The packets are super convenient to tuck in a pocket or a pack and are great for travel. I got the Watermelon and it is delicious. One of the problems with the tablets is that they can stick together or crumble. These packets solve that problem. HOWEVER, I am aware that the individual packets do generate more waste. Really, that is the only downside for me, and that's why I give them a 4 instead of a 5. I plan on trying other flavors.
I have been using Nuun since I started running, seven years ago. They have great flavors with electrolytes & other Inatural ingredients to help with immunity, energy, vitamins and rest. When I first purchased the Instant Watermelon, I knew it would be good, but I was wrong...It is delicious! You get a sweet Watermelon flavor, and then kind of a salty aftertaste. I eat Watermelon with salt, so the Instant Watermelon is right up my alley. I drink it daily, and not always for the benefits. Sometimes I just crave the taste, but it doesn't hurt to get extra benefits from drinking it. I try to drink a lot of water, and the Instant Watermelon helps me stay on track. I am so glad Nuun made this flavor, and I love how quickly it mixes, so you get all the flavor with every sip.
This is for the lemon lime flavor. I'm not sure how to objectively judge the effectiveness of these type of supplements' claim to hydrate better than water. I felt well hydrated while drinking this during/after strenuous exercise. There is a sweetness which may encourage some to drink more than they would with plain water and tastes fine. All good so far. The problems I had with the powder was the size and dissolvability. One packet is meant for 16 oz., not 12 so I found myself grabbing a larger bottle than I usually would. The powder also needed vigorous shaking to dissolve. You can't stir it to dissolve completely meaning this wouldn't work with bottles with air vents. Lastly, the individual powder sleeves are not recyclable. The back reads "Multi-Layer Pouch". If ... MoreThis is for the lemon lime flavor. I've been using Propel for a while as my electrolyte drink - Gatorade etc. are too sugary for me. I have tried Nuun in the past but didn't like the tabs and carbonation. This, however, has changed my mind. Right off the bat, the packets are 3x as big as the Propel ones, and just by feeling the packets you can tell there is more in there. A review of the Nuun vs. Propel nutrition facts shows a lot more electrolytes per pack as well. The taste is another change. This has a more salty/sweet taste than others, which I personally like. It's not salt water, but it's definitely way less sweet. The only downside is now I taste the flavoring more which comes across as more artificial, and this is where it loses a star for me.As far as performance, I've used it after ... MoreI've been using Propel for a while as my electrolyte drink - Gatorade etc. are too sugary for me. I definitely feel more refreshed/replenished than just drinking water. The real test will be during a Southern summer though.Overall a great product that I would use again, but the price point would limit the frequency of use for me.
I had a hard time liking the nuun Instant for several reasons. The first being the taste - I found it difficult to stomach and I do not usually have trouble drinking powdered or tablet drink mixes with electrolytes/ for rehydration. The second was the dissolubility - tried mixing with cold water and not so cold water, and was not impressed with the ability to dissolve (eg - did not dissolve very well or very quickly, which may be problematic for a rehydration options marketed as 'instant.' I suppose this is in comparison to nuun's tablets, which I love, and may be like comparing apples to oranges? Either way, I do love and use nuun tablets, and was just not impressed with their instant rehydration powder. This NUUN instant mix is easy to mix and has a refreshing flavor. The package tears open easily and it mostly dissolves instantly -- a quick stir or shake and you're done. I like the flavor and balance of sugars (cane sugar) and tartness, although the lime aftertaste took me by surprise at first. For a run on a hot day this would go down easy and it would be more palatable than water. I like it better than some other products I've tried that fit into this same electrolyte category. There are a few caveats, though. Some of the aftertaste is actually the saltiness of the drink, and when you look at the nutrition label you realize that you get a quarter of your sodium intake for the day in a single serving. That's not a problem if you're recuperating from a big workout, but it's quite a bit more than other drink mixes that I was comparing to (e.g., Hammer, Vitalyte, Tailwind are all mixes I've used before). In addition to the fact that it's more expensive than my other favorites, I think I'd go easy on this product. It's packaging suggests it could be useful for a lot of purposes, but I'd save it for when I'm doing a long run or a hot weather hike.
