NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream 8 ml Cannes

I've had this product for a few years, and I’ve always loved the vibrancy of the lip cream. It glides on so smoothly, and lasts for a while! It is a bit sticky, and since it’s matte, I personally feel like it leaves my lips a bit dry. However that’s all up to preference, I typically opt for a gloss but everyone is different! But overall it’s a great option if you want that matte finish with the added metallic shine, which is such a cool touch! Not to mention, also great for the price!

I’ve been obsessed with nyx lip glosses for a long time now! Their soft matte lip cream leaves your lips feeling hydrated but leaving a perfect matte finish. The color in the attached video is Zurich. It’s one of my favorites, especially if I start with their lip liner! I love how it doesn’t make my mouth too sticky like some others do. This color matches almost everything! I’ve had this bottle for over a year and it still applies with full color. It’s perfectly priced. This is a product anyone can use.

The packaging is very simple and sleek. They are small enough for on-the-go, and the doe foot wand makes it easy to apply. These lip creams were among the first lippies I ever tried/purchased because they are affordable and I loved the idea of matte lipsticks without the overly-dry feeling. I was literally hooked on these since the very first time I tried them. They are seriously so amazing and I am not just saying that. They are highly popular and are best sellers. I recommend these to practically everyone.

Did the Cannes color formulation change?

Did the color formula change? I have been a LOYAL Cannes wearer since 2015. It has been "my-lips-but-better", my go-to color. I use UP the tube, until there's nothing left! I purchased this tube at my local drugstore in November 2023, and recently opened it to find the shade much pinker than previous tubes I've owned. I'm so sad, because it's my all-time favorite shade out of every lip product I've ever owned. Maybe it was a weird batch? I'll purchase another one just to be sure I'm not crazy.

Does NOT match outside color

Not sure if I am in the minority but I don't read the description of the color when picking makeup. Instead I LOOK at the color. I was unpleasantly surprised when I opened what was supposed to be a beautiful neutral color and instead was greeted with a very unpleasant hot pink. 🤦‍♀️ I immediately went to return it and it said I couldn't because it was a final sale. I had 2 of them... I reached out to customer service to see if there was anything else I could do and the representative said 'well, our description was a bubble gum pink' which also wasn't a fair representation. Extremely disappointed... I think someone could pull this shade off, but not most people. Pretty hideous

IT'S NOT MATTE - Monte Carlo

IT'S NOT MATTE - lets get that out the way first shall we. I think it could be more accurately described as Satin. It's definitely not a gloss but it does not apply or settle into to a proper matte finish at all. It's also slidey i.e. IT WILL END UP ON YOUR TEETH!! This was one of several matte red lippies I bought on impulse recently and sadly goes into the 'wasted money' pile. The only nice thing I can say for it is it seems to share the same comfort aspect as the infinitely superior NYX Smooth Whip Matte Lip Cream, it isn't dry feeling, you could forget you were wearing it, and it doesn't bobble up or wear off within minutes like the absolutely terrible Maybelline Lip Ink, but anything (especially a red) that smears on my teeth even a little bit after having ... MoreIT'S NOT MATTE - lets get that out the way first shall we. The colour (Monte Carlo) is also a bit misleading, you'd expect this to be a proper dark red looking at the tube but on application it's quite bright and more of a pink than a red. NYX would probably do quite well if they did away with this product and brought out loads more colours in the Smooth Whip line. Even looking at the tubes side by side, you'd think this was a gloss (shiny bottle) while the Smooth Whip bottle is a powdery matte - you couldn't mistake one for the other. I cannot recommend this product because of the teeth smearing.

I still don't understand the hype about this lip product. To me the application is amazing, however, the formula is too basic and meh for my liking. It doesn't last long at all on the lips, is not opaque enough and you really have to layer it up if you want it to live up to its purpose as a liquid lip product. The formula is also too creamy, making it hard for it to properly dry down, hindering its wear quaility throughout the day. The lighter shades are streaky and deeper shades can be patchy. Really a hit and miss here. Also can be a tad drying after constant use.Only thing I like (and the reason why I rated it 3 stars) is because of its extensive and impressive colour range, ranging from nudes, neutrals and heaps of fun, bright and vampy shades.
