Amazing helmet perfect fit.

I had a MOD3 and decided to upgrade to the MOD5 and give my wife my MOD3. This is the same great helmet with minor improvements. The fidlock is amazing with gloves and the inner material is super soft. The vents are easy to use with gloves and make a big difference. Great fit with my oakley goggles and it’s great that it comes with 2 brim sizes. It’s also very easy to adjust the tilt and tension of the helmet to your preference/requirement.

Definitely Oakley - It's beautiful

Firstly, let me start by saying the shipping was exceptionally fast. At first sight, it looks more beautiful in person, much nicer than the photos. I am usually very skeptical about size measurements. Sometimes it's either too small and it rarely fits perfectly. This was the latter (perfect fit). I spent a lot of time looking it up at different sellers and the price for exactly the same helmet on "The Last Hunt" was the best. The "Oakey" brand is among the best and it definitely lives up to its' reputation. Sorry, I am a very objective but I couldn't find any issues with this. Please note: this review is just my biased opinion I really like "Oakley". I hope this helps other people in making their decision.

Unpacked and was surprised to discover it doesn’t have the modular brim system as stated in description. Double checked on Oakley’s site description. No MBS on this new version. Had the older version prior that I really liked. This still version is a more drafty than prior version on cold days. Have used it 5 days. Is just ok.

Good for my head but not my ears

Very nice helmetFits nice. Looks OK.Feels substantial, ready for my next crash!Only negative: the audio pocket I put my Outdoor Research (surely #! seller in helmet sound) speakers into are a bit tight and tend to move the chips upward as I ride--this causes the control bits on speaker to move a bit out of the way, making changing volume and modes difficult to impossible. Shame such a small part of the design will lead me to not purchase an Oakley helmet in the future.Evo shipped this quick!

Great helmet, poor vetilation

Overall fit was on the smaller side. Would have loved more vent holes throughout the helmet. Conditions used where sunny in the high 30s. Would definitely recommend sizing up if you wear a balaclava under the helmet. Otherwise a great helmet with comfortable earpads and chin strap.

Would be better to have 2 strap at 4 and 8 o'clock. The ear padding are not super soft (Same as Poc Helmet) this could be better like the Smith or Atomic Helmet.GOOGLE FIT : 5/5Perfect !the interchange brim system is not a game changer but can help. But honestly every one now have the BOA so nothing special here.A "little" mushroom head compare to others, but not that much. Also a little heavier than competitors but nothing to complain about.Carry-on/protective bag that is included is a nice touch.I'm happy with my purchase. But nothing beats the good old tuque in terms of warmth & confort. (But no protection...)

Nice Helmet
9 December 2022

Overall very comfortable helmet, sits just a little higher than another helmet I tried, but not too bad really so you don't look like a mushroom head. Deal breaker for me was the goggle fit. The Anon M4 goggles doesn't fit well with this helmet, no pictures since I already returned it. The goggles stick out past the brim of the helmet and the helmet pushes the goggles down your face a little, pinching your nose, making it a little harder to breathe. It's unfortunate, got a great price during the holidays and it truly is one of the more comfortable helmets I've ever tried on. Definitely a huge upgrade from the last model Mod5.Basically I would recommend bringing your goggles to see if they fit. The M4 are huge, so it may just be them. Not what I expect from Oakley
4 February 2018

I bought this helmet because a) I bought Chips 2.0 Audio and my current helmet didn’t have the slots in it for it and b) I have always loved Oakley products, and I already have Oakley Goggles and the Mod 5 is supposed to fit Oakley goggles better than any other helmet. I have two major misgivings with the unit. First, the Chips don’t fit or work. I should have read reviews more thoroughly before I bought because someone had already pointed this out. Yes, the slots are there, but the size inside is too small for the Chips to be inserted AND be comefortable. Plus, the heavy rubberized outside of the earmuffs make the ‘tap’ technology of the Chips useless. Yes, the slots are there, but the size inside is too small for the Chips to be inserted AND be comefortable. Plus, the heavy rubberized outside of the earmuffs make the ‘tap’ technology of the Chips useless. Really, really stupid to claim the helmet is compatible with audio tech (and this is essentially the best audio tech) and then slapdash the design so that in practice it isn’t compatible. Second issue is that (and this could be my opinion only) the “you can use it even with gloves it’s so easy” magnetic chinstrap insertion (as opposed to a buckle) is gimmicky and actually quite cumbersome to use. I found myself saying “if only I had a plastic buckle which is so simple right now”. Other than these two things the helmet looks good and yes it does work well with Oakley goggles (not sure about other ones). Regretfully, on the very first day I had this helmet I had a pretty bad spill and got a concussion (in fact the first time I’ve spilled like that in 25 years of boarding!). I can’t judge how well the helmet performed in its most crucial task but I suspect it did fine. Certainly it protected my head and if I wasn’t wearing it I’d not be typing this today. I have since read that you should replace your helmet after any significant impact because the protective styrofoam gets squished. I also read another review where a guy claimed he simply cut slits in his earmuffs and put the Chips in and they worked fine. Given that I have. To get rid of the Oakley anyway (thankfully, I really didn’t like it), I tried cutting slits in my old helmet and they work absolutely fine, great in fact. So ultimately I’m not out any money because I’d have to ditch the helmet anyway, but I have to say I was really unimpressed with the Mod 5 given my affinity for all Oakley stuff. OAKLEY folks, you need some reasonable designers outside of optics. My two problems were, to me, such unneeded basic design flaws that I never would have expected.

Perfect IF YOU DONT USE AUDIO CHIPS
14 December 2018

Oakley nailed 90% of this helmet. Super comfortable. Feels light on the head. Love the modular design. Vents, Boa system and magnetic clasp are easy to manipulate and use with gloves/mittens on. The only downside, and it's a deal breaker for me, is that the ear cups have a rigid middle layer, as well as the rubberized outer layer, and it makes using the push button audio controls on my Chips virtually impossible. The audio "pocket" on the inner part of the ear cup, is very small, and seems like it was sewn on as an afterthought, and not designed from the start, but my ODT Chips did fit (barely). But the combination of the rigid middle later, and rubberized outer layer make controlling my audio impossible. Forget about volume adjustments....you'd probably end up concussing yourself with the amount of ear punches it would take. Ended up returning my Mod5 and grabbing a Smith Quantum. Shame...if they simply used the ear cup design from the Mod3, it would be perfect (and no - you can not swap the Mod3 and Mod5 Ear cups, since the Mod3 has the boa system & ear cups as 1 wrap around unit, whereas the Mod5 has stand alone ear cups.

Vent cover is NOT matte-finish
19 June 2023

Seems like a great helmet but I really dislike the shiny, transparent plastic used for the sliding vent cover. It lends a cheap, flimsy look to an otherwise great looking product. Really wish this piece was an opaque, matte-finished material like the rest of the helmet, as was pictured on EVO's site. Unfortunately, I've now made three different attempts to order this helmet with a matte vent cover from EVO (once from the website and twice over the phone, even speaking directly to an in-store staff person who "verified" that the vent cover of the helmet he would ship to me was indeed matte, like the photo on the site) before accepting that a helmet like the one pictured on EVO's site (matte vent cover) simply doesn't exist -- bummer.
