Oakley Encoder Matte Carbon Prizm 24K Sunglasses
Multi-Sport Design Purpose-built for use across multiple sport categories, Encoder is a sport performance style designed with hat and helmet fit functionality in mind. The progressive wrap design creates a unique look with superior coverage and enhanced field of view. The extended wrap of the lens, coupled with calibrated rigidity and low-profile temples make Encoder an obvious choice for a broad range of sports across a variety of light conditions. Revolutionary Lens Design Advancements in optical design have allowed the lens to be designed with an extended wrap and rigidity in key areas that mimic the structural properties of a frame. Oakley has flared the upper edge and nose areas of the lens to create more of a three-dimensional profile and more stiffness as a result without needing additional frame to wrap around the lens. Better Fit With Headgear The O-Matter temples have been designed to be low profile to fit with hats and helmets. This change allows the Encoders to be used with a wider variety of head ware. This has been paired with no-slip grip Unobtainium earsocks and nosepads help provide sport level retention with a no-slip grip and all-day comfort. Impact Protection Prizm Lenses Oakley's lenses are designed and tested under extreme high mass and high velocity circumstances to ensure uncompromising protection across a wide range of demanding conditions. Prizim lens technology is designed to enhance colour and contrast so you so you can see more clearly. Oakley specifically designs Prizm lenses to optimise the riders surroundings.

I use them playing baseball. So comfy and clear. The prizm lenses are amazing! Everything is so clear on the field but not too bright. Really great sunglasses.

First time buying Oakley sunglasses and I was very disappointed. I’ll keep this as neutral as possible despite my experiencePros:- The polarized glasses are extremely nice.- Fit is close to perfect for people with small heads- Hasn’t fallen off my head on the few runs I went on- Glasses case is very high qualityCons- (Quality control) The nose mold was broke. I am not able to change it or put the original nose piece back on 100%- One of the Glasses arms was bent significantly and not on the glasses. The bumps that connect to the main piece come out if moved too muchOverall the glasses were nice, the quality control on these was absolute subpar. Considering how much these cost, the glasses do not reflect the price tag in my experience.

These shades fit great and don't cause any irritations. The frames are lightweight and seem to be quite durable. I was worried the lenses wouldn't feel sturdy, but they feel like they're pretty well off in the design. Good to not feel like I'm going to break them. I would feel very sad if I lost or broke these. I originally wanted the 24k gold color, but it was sold out due to high demand. After seeing these in person, though, I'm growing a liking to the black/gray. It isn't as flashy or 'wow,' but it is still highly functional and it does go with anything I'd wear.

The way this lens is shaped and designed makes it good for people with low to medium sized nose bridges. With the 3 different sized nose pads that come with the glasses, you will find that perfect fit. This issue that others may have with the nose pads obstructing may have to do with having a high nose bridge and how these glasses are shaped. Having a medium nose bridge myself, I find that using the most narrow nose pad actually fits me well without any obstruction in vision that other may have experienced. Overall I would recommend the Encoder for active and sports applications.
I just bought these and really want to love them, because everything about them is great except the nosepiece. It's visible in my field of vision when wearing these like a couple others have mentioned. I've been wearing Frogskins forever so maybe this is just how these fit but I was expecting an unobstructed view like ski goggles but the nosepiece is this large piece of black rubber that is clearly visible in your peripheral vision when wearing these. Maybe that's just how they are but I think I will be returning them. I'd try them on first and see if it bothers you. Everything else about them is perfect, wish Oakley had come up with a more seamless nosepiece design.
After a few months with SunGod glasses, I have returned to Oakley. The lenses are far superior, in both materials and clarity. I have the trail prism lens at it is great for everything from dark cloud / dusk to bright but overcast days, basically everything except the brightest days and full sun. They are super comfy for me at least and sit well with both my Met and Arbus helmets. Frame materials feel strong and robust, again far better than the SunGod I have have replaced. Not the cheapest option by far, but given the range of conditions I can wear these in they are decent value, replacing a could of lens options in other glasses.
I first saw the Encoders on track & field athletes at the U.S. Olympic trails and thought they were sharp, so I ordered a pair. I am SO glad I did. I've been wearing them for running and golf and cannot emphasize enough how fantastic they are. I love the full coverage as they keep bugs out of my face. They stay in place during a sweaty, humid workout. Other reviews have mentioned being able to see the nosepiece. They're not wrong, but I hardly noticed the nosepiece after a few days and I love how comfortable the nosepiece is. I have the blue pair and I hope to purchase the red pair soon.
Frames are a little tight. I have a normal size head, and normally all Oakley glasses fit me, especially ones of this wider lens style, like this one. There is a gigantic rubber base for your nose, so large that your eyes can't stop focusing on it and looking at it. I have never seen that on Oakley sunglasses before. Seems like a terrible design. Oakley icon logo weirdly shifted around corner of glasses.
I love these. The lens curve around the nose and on the top makes them look very Sci-Fi! I would love to know how they are able to manufacture the lens like that! They are a zero-frame so they are flexible enough to accommodate large faces and come with three nose pieces to get the fit correct. Heavier than the EV zero, and bigger, but still much lighter than a full-frame like Jawbreakers.A few things to note about these:The lens curve changes the color around the outside of the lens to look very mirrored (which I love)Since the glasses are manufactured as one piece, the lens is NOT replaceable. So be careful!Even with the lens curves, there is no noticeable distortion anywhere on the lens. The frames fit farther away than cycling specific frames ... MoreI love these. So be careful!Even with the lens curves, there is no noticeable distortion anywhere on the lens. The frames fit farther away than cycling specific frames (Jawbreaker, Flight Jacket) which gives you a more relaxed fit and better ventilation, but not as aerodynamic. The frames fit excellent with a helmet or hat because of the lower top frame and shorter stems than Sutro. The Oakley inscription on the front of the lens is much bigger than on the Radar EV or Jawbreaker. So cool!My advice for cleaning:If your like me you are using these for some kind of sport. I use mine for mountain biking. After each use, I would highly recommend rinsing the lens off with water on the front and back BEFORE wiping the lens with a microfiber cloth. Having dust or dirt on the lens when you wipe can cause iridium scratches, and like mentioned before, the lens cannot be replaced. This along with some lens cleaning spray will prolong the life of your fresh new shades.Overall LOVE these frames! My favorite in years!
I love the fit of the Encoder. I prefer to have the lenses wrap around and up above the eye to eliminate the added light from around the glasses. These are the PERFECT set and fit for me. I am a big fan of the M frames but these are my favorite so far. I plan on buying other colors to go with my golf wardrobe. These glasses feel great, not to heavy or to light. Highly recommend them to any sports enthusiast or just for that classic look when going out around town.
