DRT5 is built with a lightweight polycarbonate shell and EPS protective foam, and has an adjustable visor featuring six detents with over 60° of total articulation so riders can easily stow their goggles in the forward-facing position. Rear mechanical hooks provide a location to stow eyewear and allow for unimpeded airflow into the helmet. The BOA 360 FS1-1 fit system with TX1 Lace provides a soft textile feel and flexibility that lies flat against your head for seamless eyewear compatibility. The X-STATIC brow pad wicks away moisture while a silicone gel sweat guard helps collect and divert sweat from the forehead to behind the ear to help keep your eyes sting-free and eyewear streak-free. The MIPS System is designed to guard against angled impacts to the head.

Pros: Great look, quality construction, love the boa system, comfortable. Cons: I absolutely hate the chin strap adjustment, it’s by far the weakest design of the whole helmet and needs to be scrapped from the design, absolutely awful design. My Oakley Latch Beta sunglasses barely stay in the sunglass holder. Oakley says they’ll work with any of their glasses, not true at all. Overall really good product but I won’t buy another one if they don’t solve that awful chin strap adjustment

Please remember that FIT is more important for helmets than any other gear. If it fits, wear it. Traditionally, Bell and Fox have fit better than GIRO for me, your mileage may vary.Features - BOA ratchet - nice and non-intrusive. I do note the lack of big plastic head holders along/behind the ear that are usually part of the fitment system for a lid. Adjustment is good, feels good on the trail.Silicone sweat gutter/pad/thing - so far, so good. Coming into the sweaty season now. Running just this up front and one pad at the top...I do notice that there is more sweat shaking out of the helmet in general than with the usual padded setups, and the habit of stopping to "juice" the helmet pads yields nada. It feels fine on the forehead and keeps sweat off the brow for ... MorePlease remember that FIT is more important for helmets than any other gear. If it fits, wear it. I don't anticipate ever finding this feature useful, but I'm open to change.MIPS - this works, their implementation seems to be on par with other MFGs.Overall, this lid fits my head well. Airflow is as expected, visor feels quality, and I guess I'll be sticking a gopro sticky mount to the top.

Picked up this mainly because I couldn't fit my skull into the POC Tectal/Kortal - the DRT5 has a wider and shallower shape which, for the same M size, gives me plenty of adjustment to wear over both short and grown-out hair as well as a thin beanie where the POC helmets were far too tight on the temple at the loosest setting. The finish is beautiful (matte black, but also tried desert and olive) but the matte feels like it'll show marks easily as with all things matte. No biggie for me as I like the 'lived-in' look. The big sellers here are the glasses holder and sweat channels - both work as advertised although it can be fiddly to get narrower glasses into the holder, but once they're in they stay put. The sweat channeling band works great but does leave a ... The sweat channeling band works great but does leave a long-lasting imprint on the forehead - fortunately it comes with a swappable foam band for using on cooler days so I can swap the silicone one in and out as required.Weight is a bit on the heavy side, would prefer 80-100g less, but it's fine for enduro and builds your neck muscles! Wouldn't use on XC or all-day non-stop riding though. Ventilation is also ok, but you will always be balancing venting against protection so I prefer the added protection.Overall great bit of kit, looks *chefs kiss*, some neat features but really only worth paying full price if you dig the aesthetics and it fits better than the competition.

Price on this helmet was soo cheap! Bought it for my daughter who is just getting more hardcore and needed better head protection!! MIPS was a huge selling point!! Only flaws - silicone pad at front helmet ( came with a replacement foam pad) and little MIPS silicone connectors caught her hair. Easy fix with some extra foam pads!!
I purchase a medium size helmet a couple months back and finally took it out of the packaging a few days ago. I notice right away that the helmet was not comfortable. It pinch my head by the temple area. I had to use my old Fox helmet. I was attracted to this helmet by the styling and discounted price from $200 to $75. The helmet is now a $75 dust collector.
Nice fitting helmet. Runs smallish for the stated metric sizes. Adjustments make 5 stars. BOA dial adjuster with thin fabric strings disappear. Even the dial height adjustment moves up and down so I was able to fit the helmet just right forward and back so as to not hit the top of my glasses frames. Adjustable visor is nice. Vents are small, but no worries because the silicone sweat guard is LEGIT. I have a shaved head so sweat runs right down my head onto my glasses and into my eyes. The silicone band has 3 or 4 blades like a windshield wiper and channels the sweat over to my temples (away from my eyes and glasses). Every other sweat management system fails once the "special/redesigned/whatever" padding is soaked through, all the sweat goes into my face. Oakley got ... MoreNice fitting helmet. I can climb with glasses on, all August and into September (hot weather). Highly recommended for my bald brothers out there. Add this sweat guard to the Aero road helmet and I'll buy one of those too.
Recently purchased this helmet on sale, which was a major factor. I have no complaints so far. Some gripe about only 12 vents. To me I instantly felt the breeze on my forehead and during the ride didn't even notice the temp of my head. I have a 56cm head with a buzzcut and purchased the medium. The helmet fits comfortably despite minimal padding. If you don't like the silicon sweat squeegee, Oakley includes a traditional pad to switch it out. I did use the glasses clips the first time out, but they seem gimmicky. Again, Oakley provides rubber plugs to replace the clips if you want to remove them. I found the weight to be noticeable in my hands but not on my head. That said, no other helmet feels as solid as this one! The visor especially, exudes quality. It easily ... It easily finds the intended position and doesn't move during rides. I'm confident this helmet keeps me safe. Other features are there to use them if you want, but Oakley gives you options if you don't. The helmet even comes with a mesh bag that keeps out bugs or dust as it hangs in the garage.
I'll be honest: I am not an "Oakley" kind of guy...forgive me for saying it, but I think that the Oakley brand comes with a specific vibe that far too often consists of people take their brand loyalty WAY TOO FAR, and I felt like that was a club I didnt need to belong to. However after seeing all of the technical upgrades this new bucket has, along with being entranced by the design videos, I decided to take a jump and pick up my first Oakley branded item.Long story short (too late) I was instantly in love with this helmet. The fit is far better than any of the 3 other helmets I currently wear, and it just wraps around my bean perfectly. I love the way the sides dont interfere with my glasses (and they arent even Oakleys), and though this is my first bucket with a ... I love the way the sides dont interfere with my glasses (and they arent even Oakleys), and though this is my first bucket with a sweat channel band, I wont buy another helmet without one...its simplicity is divine to the point that I didnt realize I was sweating up a storm, because I wasnt used to the moisture NOT dripping down my face. This helmet actually made me realize that my last helmet was fitted slightly improperly, sitting too high on my head - while the DRT5 floats around my skull, and keeps the sweat band just a hair over my eyebrows, catching everything.Couple all of this comfort with the cool clips that hold your glasses when it gets shady, the visor that gets WAY out of the way of goggles and MIPS tech on top of it all, and suddenly I think I might be an Oakely guy for life. At least as far as the helmets go...The bottom line is that if you arent in love with this helmet once you put it on, the only rational explanation is that you hate your own head and like to be uncomfortable.
This is now my favourite helmet. 5 rides in. If you sweat, a lot, and it goes in your eye, making you stop during a ride or a race then you should try this helmet. I went from standard helmet toweling, to the sweat buster pad which I still like, then had a friend try this Oakley DRT5 and recommend I get one. The sweat channels in the front gather your sweat from your hair and forehead and wick it away to somewhere around your ear so it doesn't come down your face. It feels weird when it starts working as you do feel the sweat moving in the channels. So far it has worked great. I will update y review if the silicone channels wear or if performance deviates from what I have experienced. Being a taller rider I also like that it feels to sit with a lower centre of ... Being a taller rider I also like that it feels to sit with a lower centre of gravity on my head giving it a lower profile feel for ducking under trees. The BOA system adjusts it to fit perfectly without grabbing on or giving me a headache. No cons to report so far.
This product is so Oakley, it could be on the cover of a catalog. Somewhat pricy. Wonderful in all area. Except one or two. Almost fatal flaws. The Velcro which holds the gutter to the helmet (or the included padded brow pad) it maybe 2.5 mm round pieces and adhesive backed. There's maybe 5 of these tiny bastards. Not anymore you pulled 3 off when you removed the gutter to rinse it off.Yeah I can fix it, which I did, by getting more Velcro. Raise your hand if you want to send off $200 for a helmet and glue new Velcro on to keep the brow pad on, and Oakley will hook you up.Fabulous helmet. Vented like a hobo's underwear, holds on well and of course work second to none with big sunglasses. I'd buy it again, but it's maddening to have to fix it after a few sweaty ...
