It generally meets my needs. I will not be able to score its ability to reduce bright sunlight as it is still winter, with little sunshine. From previous reviews, it was suggested that these glasses would reduce wind effects when cycling. In the strong winds we get here, the glasses allowed some dust and grit to get into my eyes even when standing still. These glasses might be more effective in that regard if they had a greater curvature round the side of the face.

Amazing! Highly recommend!!

My son wears them for baseball and they fit well, the lenses are amazing, the price at BHA is UNBELIEVABLE & UNBEATABLE!! Buy a pair, & look like the DAWG you are when you’re balling out or just chillin! I’m definitely buying another pair for me!

Best glasses for anything outdoors
19 May 2023

I have been waiting for Oakley to put the Photochromic Lens on the Sutro model ever since I tried them on a pair of Jawbreakers. This type of lens will tint darker and darker the more sun hits the lens. This is an amazing feature if you like doing any outdoor activities where lighting can change. Personally I use them mainly for cycling and backpacking. With cycling if I do an extended evening ride I don’t have to take my sunglasses of when it starts to get darker and risk getting bugs in my eyes. And with backpacking I love that I dont need to take them on an off when going in and out of areas with/without tree coverage. If you are looking for a pair of glasses that you can leave on your face all day then these are the ones.*** One thing to note is that if you ... MoreI have been waiting for Oakley to put the Photochromic Lens on the Sutro model ever since I tried them on a pair of Jawbreakers. They will only work with direct sunlight. ***

Don’t usually bother with reviews

Like the title says I only really ever write reviews when I really love a product. And these Oakleys are insane. A bit expensive yes but you truly get what you pay for. I bought these to replace my cheap £15 sunglasses for cycling and they are awesome! Super comfortable, look great and are visually amazing. Would definitely recommend!

Expected Oakley Quality

At first I was worried that the lack of unobtainium grippers on the temples would be an issue with stability, but after a couple hundred miles of rides in hot and sweaty conditions, I can say these haven’t budged! In fairness, I have worn these under the helmet straps vs. over like I do with other sunglasses, but I’m confident that isn’t a requirement. The lens quality and visual acuity, as with any other Oakley sunglasses I’ve ever owned is second to none. The lenses do a terrific job of cutting down on light and glare, while making sure the things I want to see absolutely POP. For context, I ordered the pair with the Prizm Road lenses for…yeah…road riding. Additionally, these are very large, which in my mind is a great thing. For context, I ordered the pair with the Prizm Road lenses for…yeah…road riding. Additionally, these are very large, which in my mind is a great thing. I have great protection from wind and debris, there is zero interruption to my peripheral vision. Other frames (I’m looking at you, Jawbreakers) have frame elements that get in the way and can make it challenging to see, particularly if you’re taking a quick glance over your shoulder. That is absolutely not the case here. The one complaint I have is that for some reason I have had far more sweat pool and collect on the inside of the lenses to the Sutros than any other pair of sunglasses I have, regardless of brand. I can’t tell if this is because of how close they sit to my face, shape of the lens, or perhaps the lack of vents. In any case, I have to consciously avoid having my head tilted down too far lest I get so much sweat on my glasses that I can’t see.

Great Cycling Shades
2 April 2023

I’ve been using Oakley Radars as my default cycling glasses for many years and, in the main, I’ve been very satisfied with them; however, there were occasions, especially when in the drops, I found the top of the glasses obscuring my vision. So I thought I’d give the Sutros a try. I gave them a good test on a recent trip to Gran Canaria and I wasn’t disappointed. Indeed, they were excellent. They were a perfect fit that I often forgot that I was wearing them. They provided great protection and clear vision in all sorts of light conditions. Before buying, I was concerned that the lenses were too large and at risk of fogging, but I had no problems at all. I am extremely pleased with my Sutros and would highly recommend them.

Great Style and Comfort. Poor Lense Durability
6 August 2019

Let me start off by saying that these are some of the best looking sunglasses that I've owned. I purchased them about a month ago as they are marketed as cycling/lifestyle glasses. before purchasing these, I have purchased and still own the original Radars. However, whereas the Radars are very sporty in their looks, the Sutros are truly a multipurpose pair of sunglasses. I love the oversized aesthetic and classic styling. They are extremely light given their size and very comfortable to wear. The field of view they provide is second to none. And with the Prizm Road lenses that mine came with, not only are you getting great looks, but I truly believe the technology helps you view while out on the road. However, given all of the positives of these sunglasses, I am ... MoreLet me start off by saying that these are some of the best looking sunglasses that I've owned. And with the Prizm Road lenses that mine came with, not only are you getting great looks, but I truly believe the technology helps you view while out on the road. However, given all of the positives of these sunglasses, I am very disappointed in the durability of the lenses. As previously mentioned, I have owned these glasses for about a month and have worn them maybe 10 times total. About half of the time they've been worn while out on the bike. As Oakley's are not cheap to buy, I take every precaution not to touch the lens of the glasses with my hands and to only store them within the microfiber cloth AND hard case provided. Furthermore, I make sure to clean them according to Oakley's own guidelines. Unfortunately, these glasses have already developed a visible scratch on the left side of the lens. Given that I make sure there is no large debris on the lenses before cleaning them as per Oakley's instructions, the scratch must have developed from the microfiber cloth (which I also take care to clean very frequently). I never had this issue with my Radars (which were used for baseball) and after 10 years of ownership still are scratch free save for the edge of the lens that slides into and out of the frame (and not visible when installed in the frame). It is sad that a product that has only been worn about 10 times and handled with every precaution during use and cleaning could scratch so easily. I love Oakley and their designs (especially Sutro!), but when a product is lacking durability like these glasses are, I do not believe I can recommend another person to purchase them.

Light and Sleek w/ Cheap Build Quality
28 August 2023

This is my first pair of Oakley sunglasses and I understand they are past their heyday but Oakley's are still pretty expensive so I had high expectations. Immediately I noticed that the build quality is a little cheap. They creak when you spread them open and don't feel very sturdy. However, I think this is because they are quite light which translates nicely to using them during jogs and rides.I've used them for 2-3 weeks now and I enjoy them quite a bit. Light weight and fully blocks out the sun without being dark on the inside of the lens. Comfortable on the nose but not necessarily comfortable on your ears past 2-3 hours.Good glasses but a bit cheap feeling.
