I am totally obsessed with my oculus (meta) quest 2! I used to play Video games with my kids back in the 90’s so have always liked technology so when I got this I was blown away with it - there are so many games and experiences from puzzle games to shoot em up - then you can create a room and invite others to join you to say, watch a movie - and you can be in different countries so great for distant families together! It comes with a basic strap which isn’t very comfortable but there are loads of upgrades on the market also lots of accessories to make your game playing better. I really like the table tennis game and I play against a friend who lives around 200 miles away which is good fun. - if you want to get fit there are loads of excellent games which are aimed ... MoreI am totally obsessed with my oculus (meta) quest 2! As you can see I am obsessed with my oculus!

What you can do on this is endless. I’m obsessed with working out with it. There is a paid for app called Supernatural and it has saber style workouts, boxing and meditation. I can burn 245 calories in 25 minutes. This is also great for other style of games, virtual chatting with people across the world, internet surfing, etc. The only downfall is the head strap it comes with. It doesn’t balance out the weight well enough so I had to but a new and way more comfortable head strap, a fan to cool the face part down, a backup battery and some silicone sleeves for the controllers. Overall I love it! Doesn’t need wires to plug into anything while you play. Just wifi.

Great games, good platform, nice world room and you can talk to people on Facebook without ever disconnecting. Now the downside- you need AR legs🤣 This is not a joke. First time I played I started feeling a little sweaty and dizzy. I read about this and knew it's time to take a break my bf on the other hand did not listen and kept playing. Well 30 mins later is all pale and feels like passing out. Ended up sleeping like 13 hrs afterwards and hasn't been on since. That being said the game play is so impressive and the danger can be real (at least to those around you) . If you get one and like horror I suggest the walking dead as it will leave you breathless. Must have.

I've been using this headset for about 10 months now, and it was worth every penny. I mainly use it for Beat Saber and the Mini Golf and it's been great. I do occasionally get errors, but usually that's related to GPU updates or even PC restarts. If you have a controller (Xbox/PS4) it may mess with things, like making menus unscrollable, so unplug them when playing. I personally buy directly from steam and use Airlink and seldom buy any games to directly download on the Oculus. Speaking of Airlink, you need a wifi-6 router (or at least I did) to get Airlink to work. Battery life is abysmal (about 2 hours), I personally did not buy battery pack/elite strap and instead opted for an off-brand 16.4 foot cable to save myself the extra money. This is the best thing I have ever bought seriously. It has helped me lose weight (30lbs) better my health. I went from no exercise too exercising everyday. The crazy part is I don’t have to force myself to do it, it’s something I want to do and I don’t want to stop. Again no exercise to an hour a day!! I just box my heart away and slash flying objects too the sound of music lol. There is also many other benefits too the oculus not just gaming or weight loss. The experiences I receive are amazing, roller coasters, Rome, concerts feel so real. I love the educational content and use that a lot as well. It can help with one’s anxiety depression as well. This is one item I will never sale, regret, or get tired of.
THIS IS A FULL REVIEW Finding a review to explain exactly what the VR experience entails is a difficult one Many simply state it being hard to explain and just buy one to find out The problem with this is that it is a very expensive way of just jumping in blind to find out for yourself I made the plunge after years of doubt, and having unsuccessfully found anywhere to trial one Well, i wasnt disappointed Trying to describe the VR experience is in fact as hard as others have said, but i think the experience can be described in order to give a sense of what it offers Visuals - i can best describe my experience, using the Oculus Quest, as giving an immersive, 3D / holographic type of experience. Back in the 80's our school had a travelling science group who showed us holograms, looking through boxes or tubes, seeing the visual holograms of certain objects, animals etc. These images appeared 3 dimensional, and also appeared to be, in a sense, floating within this infinite 3 dimension space. This is the experience that VR, in general, offers. Take Robo Recall for example, my first outing in to VR It immerses you in what feels (or the brain is tricked) like a real life city, albeit in an obvious computer game graphical visual. However, where it shines is that interactions while fighting/shooting the robots, in that they appear correctly, at various distances, scaled correctly, shadow details, etc and the rendered 'box' of the robots is incredibly accurate. 'Grabbing or shooting at the robot, gives a real sense that they are actually there, in front of you (or behind) and you find yourself reacting automatically to duck dodge or block them. VR is this ability to construct a 3 dimensional arena/world, and tricking the brain to immerse you as if it were real. The only thing that holds you on to actual reality is the obvious computer rendered images you see (and the occasional hitting your knuckles on a nearby desk or wall Oculus Quest Unit Hardware This unit is my first jump in to VR, so i have nothing to compare it to, however, I've bought many an item over the years, and can clearly judge that this item is of top rated build quality The plastics are hard, feel sturdy, have differing surface finishes depending on if its where you would normally hold or touch. The straps are adjustable, feel strong and hard wearing. The foam padding is comfy and soft, and does an excellent job of block out light. The lenses / screens have an adjustment facility for those with eye issues. I have on eye with long distance issues, however i can wear my oculus with out my glasses and have no issues with seeing clearly. It is possible to buy lense inserts from the Oculus approved company by giving them your prescription I havent opened up the unit to look at the internals (nor will I), but this unit uses OLED screens with a high resolution, a high brightness, and the blackest of blacks. The refresh rate doesnt cause any tearing or slowdowns when things get fast paced. The battery has a supposed life of around 2 hours, ive achieved slightly higher than this, but it will depend on the software, games etc that you are running. The touch controllers are superb, and i was blown away with how accurate the xyz position and displaying of these were on the unit. Software This area was a surprise for me, id had a quick look and saw a few games ertc, but it wasnt until i installed the oculus app on my phone (this is required on initial first turn on of unit) and the oculus app on my pc (not required to play on oculus), that i saw the shear amount of additional software tools available. The Quest can be run as a standalone unit, using just the Quest store for software. However, plug in a cable and attach it to your VR capable PC opens up a whole 'rift' of possibilities. This software, Oculus Link' enables the quest to access the Rift store, hereby giving full access to the complete list of software available on the PC based Rift store, thus opening even more games and apps. From there you can also instal SteamVR, and access the VR content on the Steam store. This whole process is a simple case of buying the correct USB-C to C cable (must be capable of delivering power and data, normally advertised as 10GB cables) and allowing the oculus pc software detect your headset, install the Oculus Link software (in Beta, but its works well), then on the Quest home screen, you simply click on the beta link button and it transfers you to the Rift home screen and store. For steam it requires SteamVR (which is in your 'tools' folder not games) The oculus software enables you to map out your room, drawing around everything using the touch controllers, this gives you a safe area, and the system will bring up a grid on your eye screens when you get too close (this can be adjusted and changed very easily if you use the Quest in another room etc. As the quest version is primarily wire free, portability function is great on this) run out of characters lol
I got the 256GB model in case I ended up buying a few games from the store. However, I'd recommend sticking to the 64GB model as most games are only a few gigabytes (I have about 10 games and only used about 20 to 25GB so far.) especially if you're using it for PC VR. I upgraded from the original Oculus Rift to this and I have to say it's a much-needed upgrade in comparison of picture quality alone. The freedom of being fully wireless and passthrough is incredible. You never see pixels or blurriness outside of any white text. The only downside is the random chance for the controller to disconnect due to the AA battery fitment (according to the community) which is most noticeable in games like Beat Saber as it'll have every few songs but it'll reconnect within half a ... MoreI got the 256GB model in case I ended up buying a few games from the store. There are definitely some great games between the store options even if you use this solely as an independent device and don't care much about graphics such as Tetris Effect, Beat Saber, and even Half-Life 1 (it's a good quality mod). I would recommend getting a cover as the stock face cover sucks and will make you sweat. Some have reported rashes. (See note) Also, get the elite strap, case, and an external battery pack (commonly used for phones) with a 3D printed attachment. I ended up getting all of these since the original strap is quite awkward, the case to help prevent car hair from getting inside, and the battery since the headset's battery life is not great. (I got a 10000mah and it's ridiculous just go for an 8000mah or something lighter) This will make the headset so much better otherwise you do have the Frankenquest option to use the HTC Vive strap instead although I have no experience with this. Note: They did do a recall to switch all the foam covers to latex recently so be sure to opt into it on the Oculus site.
This comes in an oculus box with the oculus logo on the headset not the quest 2 logo on the headset I don’t know if that makes any difference, it didn’t to me but if you’re set on getting the newer branding it might. The getup itself is amazing, I purchased it as I’m 64, in the high risk from covid group & wanted to try out the chat rooms and look at some indoor exercise options.I didn’t know about watching sky sports or sky movies ( if you’re a sky VIP member) the 180 football is good if you like football, Netflix and prime films are also on it, its like sitting in a cinema to watch them.I booked to attend a fat boy slim VR concert ( look it up on you tube) and that was brilliant! Great to chat to people from all over the world that were also attending, was just like attending a concert only better!Looking forward to hopefully attending more concerts.I’ve found some good free games and demos I paid for ‘TRIPP’ a very good mindfulness app, I have ordered some Presciption lenses to go on it as I find wearing my varifocals uncomfortable with the headset.I’ve kept out of the other chat rooms for now as I’ve heard they can be quite negative with kids being racist and vulgar, I joined a VR chat group on Facebook and will go in their chat room at some point as it’s not open to kids. The graphics are amazing
Great midrange VR headset. Value per dollar is better than higher priced VR sets. This is a quality product I use for watching Netflix, and YouTube in a theater like setting. The resolution is suitable to enjoy videos and gaming. Battery life is good, and can be worn while recharging if close enough to a charge port, or an additional inline USB adapter is used. The headset is a bit heavy, and can wear on you if you use it continuously for several hours. Do not adjust the back of the head strap too low or it may cause headaches. Not recommended for children below the age of 13.
This is my first experience with VR and let me tell you it's totally amazing even if you're not into playing games you can travel the world the oceans space the space station you can go to famous museums Walk The Great Wall of China right from the comfort hope your recliner in the living room. I've already bought accessories the first week I had it their Elite head strap with a built-in battery for extended play time some silicone grips with straps that won't let you drop your controller did you get carried away with it and have it go flying even if we have the little wrist cord on. One of the apps I paid for you can go up into the space station just like the astronauts pull yourself along through all the different sections looking out the windows there's so much you can do with this thing I've barely scratched the surface I can't believe you can have this much fun for $300 never mind the physical aspect of it he wasjust playing games you can get a workout never mind all the workout apps they have boxing apps right now I've just been killing a lot of zombies LOL. I've told all my friends and family about it couple of them already bought one it recommended even for elderly people sitting there chair experience all kinds of things trying to get my parents to get one.
