Oculus Quest All-in-One VR Gaming Headset - 64GB

Other units seem to weigh you down in certain situations and keep you in place as if You're playing your game as you normally would in front of your television. Definitely a bonus on the creator's part here because it allows for optimal move around and full 360° movement for all sorts of games, exercise and more. I've included a clip I shared from One of my first ventures into the other side courtesy of YouTube VR and it's just a simple tour of sorts available to show you the sites around the world and may not seem like much. But when you're wearing the headset and the sound is traveling in 360° peripheral as well. You are transported wherever this thing chooses to take you and it's almost fascinating. If not next to addicting. If you have the chance to pick one up I say pick it up and give it a try because you probably won't put it down. The only piece of advice I can offer to those who have not tried it out would be to invest in rechargeable batteries. The two units that fit in hand for- well taking place of your hands in virtual reality-(although there is the ability within meta to operate without the controllers and it will recognize your hands themselves and show them accordingly within your screen view) but my point is that they take two AA batteries each and they burn through them in a couple sessions. I would say if you're like me in a session will last a few hours. Another VERY IMPORTANT NOTE- IF YOU ARE SOMEONE THAT WEARS GLASSES YOU MAY WANT TO MEASURE YOUR FRAMES AGAINST THE UNIT DIMENSIONS ITSELF. I am lucky enough that my glasses happened to fit easily into the unit, but I don't have very big frames. One thing that helps me in using the unit is to place my glasses into the headset first then slip the headset on as if it was one piece instead of trying to shimmy my glasses through the pressure of the opening. By doing this, I have no difficulty whatsoever and no bending or stress points in my frames, which therefore make a comfortable gaming experience that I'm not constantly worried about my vision or my own comfort. Definitely recommend.

This thing comes along at just a few hundred dollars and can connect to your computer all the same to play the top games only limited by your own computer hardware. It’s wildly competitive! I like all that this has to offer. I have used other virtual reality devices before but nothing like this. It immerses me into a completely different world. There are several free games to play and roller coasters to ride. I like the casino where I can play with free virtual money. The best thing is the horizons app where I can enter several worlds and meet real people. It lets you make friends and join in the games. There are a lot of apps that cost but it doesn't make me enter a credit card. I don't know if it has always been like this but I did not have to because I haven't purchased anything yet. The head strap that comes with it can become uncomfortable at times but I got a new one that is comfortable and comes with a battery. Back in the 80's our school had a travelling science group who showed us holograms, looking through boxes or tubes, seeing the visual holograms of certain objects, animals etc.These images appeared 3 dimensional, and also appeared to be, in a sense, floating within this infinite 3 dimension space. This is the experience that VR, in general, offers. Take Robo Recall for example, my first outing in to VR It immerses you in what feels (or the brain is tricked) like a real life city, albeit in an obvious computer game graphical visual. However, where it shines is that interactions while fighting/shooting the robots, in that they appear correctly, at various distances, scaled correctly, shadow details, etc and the rendered 'box' of the robots is incredibly accurate. 'Grabbing or shooting at the robot, gives a real sense that they are actually there, in front of you (or behind) and you find yourself reacting automatically to duck dodge or block them. VR is this ability to construct a 3 dimensional arena/world, and tricking the brain to immerse you as if it were real. The only thing that holds you on to actual reality is the obvious computer rendered images you see (and the occasional hitting your knuckles on a nearby desk or wall Oculus Quest Unit Hardware This unit is my first jump in to VR, so i have nothing to compare it to, however, I've bought many an item over the years, and can clearly judge that this item is of top rated build quality The plastics are hard, feel sturdy, have differing surface finishes depending on if its where you would normally hold or touch. The straps are adjustable, feel strong and hard wearing. The foam padding is comfy and soft, and does an excellent job of block out light. The lenses / screens have an adjustment facility for those with eye issues. I have on eye with long distance issues, however i can wear my oculus with out my glasses and have no issues with seeing clearly. It is possible to buy lense inserts from the Oculus approved company by giving them your prescription I havent opened up the unit to look at the internals (nor will I), but this unit uses OLED screens with a high resolution, a high brightness, and the blackest of blacks. The refresh rate doesnt cause any tearing or slowdowns when things get fast paced. The battery has a supposed life of around 2 hours, ive achieved slightly higher than this, but it will depend on the software, games etc that you are running. The touch controllers are superb, and i was blown away with how accurate the xyz position and displaying of these were on the unit. Software This area was a surprise for me, id had a quick look and saw a few games ertc, but it wasnt until i installed the oculus app on my phone (this is required on initial first turn on of unit) and the oculus app on my pc (not required to play on oculus), that i saw the shear amount of additional software tools available. The Quest can be run as a standalone unit, using just the Quest store for software. However, plug in a cable and attach it to your VR capable PC opens up a whole 'rift' of possibilities. This software, Oculus Link' enables the quest to access the Rift store, hereby giving full access to the complete list of software available on the PC based Rift store, thus opening even more games and apps. From there you can also instal SteamVR, and access the VR content on the Steam store. This whole process is a simple case of buying the correct USB-C to C cable (must be capable of delivering power and data, normally advertised as 10GB cables) and allowing the oculus pc software detect your headset, install the Oculus Link software (in Beta, but its works well), then on the Quest home screen, you simply click on the beta link button and it transfers you to the Rift home screen and store. For steam it requires SteamVR (which is in your 'tools' folder not games) The oculus software enables you to map out your room, drawing around everything using the touch controllers, this gives you a safe area, and the system will bring up a grid on your eye screens when you get too close (this can be adjusted and changed very easily if you use the Quest in another room etc. As the quest version is primarily wire free, portability function is great on this) run out of characters lol

Overall the best standalone VR headset out there. Not only can the Oculus Quest run some great games on its own, it can also act as a PCVR headset with Oculus Link. This allows you to enjoy all of what PCVR has to offer on your quest for as little as $20 (10ft USB3 C to A). Better yet, there’s an app on the Quest store called Virtual Desktop ($20) which, with a decent wifi connection, allows you to stream your desktop to your headset. Games like Beat Saber will get you sweating in no time, and playing games like Robo Recall without wires in the way, gives you a true 360 feeling. You might hear some negative comments regarding graphics (especially regarding ported games like Robo Recall which look far better on say, the Oculus Rift) but in all honesty, they're really good considering that all the electronics are right there in the headset. We might use the Oculus two to three times a week between us so it more than meets our needs. It's very easy to initially setup and it's basically a "pick-up-and-play" kinda thing. You just slap it on your head, it comes on, you play. Very easy! If you're more into fun gameplay rather than pretty polished graphics then this is the VR headset for you. Bottom line, we are quite pleased with the Oculus Quest and would definitely recommend it!

Also what i did to salve motion sickness was drink canada dry ginger ale all the time. This helps stop motion sickness also if you feel the sweats coming on remove some clothing to cool off or wear shorts and no shirt and turn on ac. Also games like journey if the gods can give a bit of motion sickness. Just continue to drink ginger ale. Also get a battery pack type c port and velcro and velcro a power bank to the back with a type c to type a usb cord to charge the oculus quest while you play so the main batter last longer. R headset because i was looking at oculus quest vs valve index and oculus rift and i cant really see any terrible graphics unless the game itself is just not madefrom awesome rendering software. It’s amazing and the ability to have room scale VR with out being tethered to a PC is insane. The sound is fine from the band isn’t as bad as some reviewers say. I have used it on a few occasions and it’s fine if you don’t want to pack a pair of gaming headphones. Please also be aware the battery for the oculus quest is around the two hour mark. For me I find this sufficient gives me a break from vr it has quick charge so charges up quick. Just jump on your Xbox, PlayStation or PC for a bit or buy a rechargeable battery pack and slip it in your pocket you still have the freedom of not being tethered to a PC who wants to wear VR goggles for over two hours anyways.
