Whether for everyday or emergency use, vehicles are loaded with more electronics than would have been imaginable just a few years ago. And hobbyist vehicles now include more specialties and specialized power demands than ever before. Fortunately, the ODYSSEY battery has been designed to keep up with the changes. Because its plates are made of pure virgin lead (unlike the lead alloy in most batteries), ODYSSEY packs more plates in. More plates mean more plate surface area, and much more power. Twice the overall power and three times the life of conventional batteries, up to 400 cycles at 80 percentage depth of discharge. These batteries are built for a range of performance from everyday vehicles, classic and antique cars, high performance cars, 4x4 and Off-Road, to modified vehicles. Its construction consists of pure virgin lead plates for maximum surface area and optimized recycling, AGM (absorbed glass mat) design that eliminates acid spills, high conductivity, corrosion-resistant tin-plated brass terminals, high integrity terminal seal, a sealed design resulting in gases recycled internally, a self-regulating relief valve, tough flame retardant cell containers and robust internal cell connections to prevent vibration damage. ODYSSEY batteries beat spiral-wound. Compared to spiral-wound batteries of equal size, ODYSSEY batteries pack 15 percentage more plate surface area into the case. Avoiding the dead space between cylinders in six-pack designs means ODYSSEY batteries deliver more power and 40 percentage more reserve capacity.

This is the best AGM battery currently on the market. I installed a group 65 version on my RV with a v10 gas engine. Great build quality. Deep discharge recovery and plenty of cranking amps. Only battery with a full replacement guarantee

These are dependable and last for years. As an AGM you get no wiring corrosion at connections. Highest pure lead content manufacturer. Great for high compression engines such as diesels or applications requiring high amp demands in demanding conditions

I purchased this Odyssey because of the 900 CCA (cold cranking amps). After exchanging the original Advanced Auto Autocraft (Diehard template rated at 850 CCA), even the second one refused to start when it's very cold outside; about 35 degrees F or less. By the time I received the Odyssey the weather was no colder than about 40 degrees. It does consistently start, but I won't know till next season if it'll perform below 40. But since this is the most expensive battery I've ever purchased, here's to hoping it could start on the planet Pluto. ('cause it's really cold there.)

Great so far

Only had these for about two months but my diesel has been quicker to turn over than ever before compared to when I had cheaper batteries in there. I upgraded the alternator so wanted some heavy duty batteries on the receiving end off the increased amperage and so far so good. If you don’t have a vehicle that requires a lot of cranking amps then it may not be worth the price for you, but for diesels that do require lots of cca, I’d say this is a good way to go.

Good quality battery. This model has non-lead terminals which is a nice touch, and mine came in a box with a spec sheet which was unexpected when buying a car battery. With this you get easier cold starts (I've noticed this in practice with another battery), and you don't have to worry about cleaning off corrosion (my old battery kept corroding; though, in my case there was an issue with my terminal connections. Corrosion seems to be common with the batteries with the caps on top.) It looks nice under the hood too. If you can, get one of these. You are getting more value.

Well, I'm not one to crab or complain. I just count my losses when they occur and move on. This purchase is one of those. I bought these for my F250 6.0L Diesel truck. I looked long and hard, desiring the very best for my electrical system integrity. I finally believed these would be these best most durable and maintenance free batteries I could have. So, I was excited to get them ($600!!) and expected great things. They look great, came packaged fantastic and dropped right in place. I thoroughly cleaned and inspected cables and connections for integrity. I also installed a new Mean Green 230amp high capacity alternator just to make sure of everything working great. I thoroughly cleaned and inspected cables and connections for integrity. I also installed a new Mean Green 230amp high capacity alternator just to make sure of everything working great. Well, 8 mos later my batteries are at 11.4V.....dead, after sitting for two weeks. I have checked for current draws and found none. Every car has some kind of small load I guess (radio memory, gauges??) but good grief, these are humongous batteries! They shouldn't be dead. So I'm frustrated, yes, and some would start trying to diagnose a problem saying I must have a draw somewhere, it must have gotten hot under hood, or it was cold this winter, whatever. The point for me is, all cars have these slight occasional issues, but they don't have these huge expensive batteries to carry them thru, yet they seem to do fine. These should be able to more than handle these variances. I have had lead acid flooded batteries in these same type of vehicles before (7.3 PSD) and never had a problem, except the necessary filling with water and cleaning required. So, 8 months and $600 bucks later I'm saying they are absolutley not worth the purchase. I'm going back to Walmart $98 LA flooded batteries. Even if I were to replace them every year I will be way ahead on money. I am soooo disappointed in this purchase. I just wanted the very best, and usually the most expensive is just that, the best. Not in this case. Hope for your own wallet sake you don't make the same mistake as I. Odyssey makes the statement, "ODYSSEY Extreme Series batteries have the power to provide engine-cranking pulses in excess of 2250 amps for 5 seconds – double to triple that of equally sized conventional batteries. And they can handle 400 charge-discharge cycles to 80% depth of discharge". Obviously they are wrong. Even if I had a draw down, they claim I should be able to recharge. Not so, it just isn't so. Hope this helps you in your decisions regarding purchasing these. Good luck......and back I go to Walmart for some good 'ol conventional batteries that have served us so well all these years!

Odyessy is expensive, but out specs BOSCH AGM
1 June 2020

I replaced the AGM Bosch in the Truck. I also replaced my Optima in my sedan. See the other review. The Bosch is 6 years old and still going strong. But it will die in the next year or two. So I did the truck at the same time as the sedan. The The replacement AGM Odyssey is the same group size. The Odyssey specs. exceed the Bosch AGM in amp hour capacity, reserve minutes time and cold cranking amps. It even has a higher five (5) seco d peak current.Plus the Odyssey has a one hundred percent replacement for four years! But the Odyessy AGM is very expensive!!

Supporting my local battery + store
17 August 2022

After ordering the Odyssey I was notified that it was out of stock at my local store. I was urged to accept the nearly identical Northstar variant. However I am hard-headed and insisted I wanted the Odyssey and not an alternative. Instead of canceling my order my local store went to extra mile to source the battery I ordered. I appreciate that. The battery is fantastic. I'm often sitting in my truck for extended times without the engine running. The stock MY2022 Ford F250 battery is not worth it's weight in lead. The Odyssey power density is far superior to the stock flooded cell battery, allowing me to sit much longer without being forced into low power mode because the BMS detects a low voltage situation.

Original review 2017-10:Autozone's specifications for this battery are incorrect. It is 11.83" x 7.20" x 7.43" and it will fit a 2002 F150. Works great.
