Olaplex Bond Maintenance No. 5 Conditioner 250 ml

I've been using the @olaplex system for a few weeks now. I have super thick, curly, unmanagable hair. I've been looking for a cruelty free line of products that can smooth, handle my split ends, style, and repair my hair from so much past damage. After a huge chop and brand new style, I invested in continuing the repair and nurishment of my hair. And WHAT A DIFFERENCE! I am amazed by how the olaplex system has treated my hair. It feels soft, it's managable to style, and it feels and looks gloriously healthy! I've even begun to use it on my daughters hair , whom in her 6 years of life has never had a haircut. Her natural curl is restoring, and her tangles and frizz are less as well! I started with the #hairrepairtreatmentkit and added sytling and smoothing products from there. I've struggled with my hair for my entire life, so this recommendation of the product doesn't come lightly.

A little goes a long way

I have recently been replacing my hair care items with Olaplex as they run out, and I’m not disappointed. I have very long, fine (but lots of it) heavily foiled blonde hair. It is prone to damage but I do all I can to keep it healthy. Since using Olaplex numbers 4-8 my hair has felt absolutely amazing. It truly has never felt better. If you are only going to invest in one product, the one that will make the most difference in my opinion is the No 8 mask. The conditioner is lovely and makes my hair so soft and looks so healthy. But you don’t need to do that with this product to get amazing results. I like to smooth the conditioner over my mid lengths and ends and then scrunch it in (like you would if you have curly hair.) That way it really absorbs into the hair. A little goes a long way, so even though this is a more expensive product, it is lasting me a lot longer than my previous hairdresser brand.

Caused major breakage

I maintain lavender hair so go to the salon every couple of months to lighten my roots only. I've been doing this for literally years. This year the only change was Ulta started carrying Olaplex shampoo and conditioner. I started using it once every couple weeks but since the bottles said it could be used daily, once I ran out often other shampoo and conditioner, I started using this more often. I'd use it once or twice a week. I started noticing some very bad breakage around the crown of my head, so of course thinking my hair needed more help I started using this almost daily. Recently I read reviews and realized others have had breakage using this so I mentioned it to my stylist. She said it could be due to "over proteinizing"? I have never had hair loss issues, especially this drastic! Olaplex might be for others but definitely not for me! Horrible experience and I'll never use again. I'm currently taking supplements to help my hair growth.

I purchased the Olaplex Bond Maintenance Essentials Set when there was a sale at Lovely Skin. I had heard about this product from my hairdresser. I recently started using another high end hair care system and I wanted to add this line into my regimen. There is a difference that I notice after using the Olaplex 3, 4, and 5 as directed. My hair seemed fuller. I have fine straight hair and I am letting it grow out longer. The ends of my hair seemed stronger and less wispy after I used the Olaplex. I plan to alternately use this Olaplex set a couple of times a month, rotating it with my other quality shampoo and conditioner products. The No 3 needs to be put onto wet towel dried hair and left on for 10 minutes and rinsed off before using the No 4 shampoo. I'll start by describing my hair. Everyone's mileage varies based on how they use a product and what their hair is like. I have a TON of hair, but the texture is wispy and baby fine. So the individual hairs are very fine and prone to knots. I just have a ridiculous amount of fine-textured hair. It's waist-length, color treated (not double processed, just lightened slightly with a box color), and it has a 2B curl / wave pattern.My hair is prone to frizziness if I let it air dry and then brush it. After shampooing, realizing how concentrated the shampoo is, I used a lot less conditioner than I would normally use. With waist-length hair, I normally use a huge squirt (nearly a palmful) of conditioner. With this, I used slightly more than a quarter-sized amount. I started at the ends, where it needs the most conditioning, and worked it in up the strands to my scalp. That was the perfect amount for my hair.I left it on for probably 2 minutes before rinsing. It didn't feel greasy after rinsing. It felt like it rinsed clean, and I could run my fingers through it.After brushing out my hair with a detangling brush, my hair curled up in its normal curl pattern. It dried without any evidence of split ends or dryness. It just feels soft all over and the ends look really healthy and bouncy. Bouncy is HARD to achieve with hair as long as mine.Olaplex is not cheap. But I am very happy. It's concentrated, so it will probably work out to be on par with what I normally spend on Biolage.

Negative stars should be a thing. I thought that the people who had issues with this product were using it wrong, or doing something else that would make their hair fall out. It must have been *them* that was the problem, I had been using it awhile with no issues.Fast forward to today. My formerly thick (but color treated) hair has thinned out about 60%. You can see my scalp, my neck, and my shirt through what’s left of my hair. Just wanted to leave this out in the open for anyone who might have these issues and not realize it’s this garbage we chose to put on our hair, and for people like me who previously thought the naysayers were just using it wrong. After hearing all the positive reviews on Tiktok and social media I decided to give the Olaplex hair repair, shampoo and conditioner a try. It was the BIGGEST MISTAKE of my life. My hormones and vitamins are balanced nor do I have any health issues, and I was not going through immense shedding. I got these products to start my hair care journey and make it look better and healthier. After the first three weeks of using it, my hair was shedding like never before, with clumps of hair falling in the shower and in bed, with no exaggeration I emphasize how an unusual amount of my hair strands fall anywhere I walk by or even sitting.
