For me, 2021 will go down in history books as the year of my tireless quest to find a reliable hair oil. Two of my fav products ended up being Ouai and Olaplex 7, but they both accomplish VERY different things. Ouai oil is HANDS DOWN the most lightweight and flexible oil for every day use while Olaplex is THE miracle oil for severely damaged locks. It does a notable job strengthening your strands almost immediately. I legit gasped the first time I used it, because I couldn’t believe how drastic of an improvement it made right off the bat. HOWEVER, Olaplex 7 can VERY very easily weigh down your entire look. I’m serious. I’ve added it to finished curls, blowouts, flat ironed moments, etc., and it ALWAYS deflates my styling AS SOON as I apply. I cannot express to you guys that this product had changed the hair game for me. Let me start this off by saying that a little bit serious goes a long way. All you need is a few 3-4 shakes and you’re good to go just start applying to your mid length all the way down to you ends. I will also say that I definitely do have some dead ends and using this oil before using heat makes my hair look and feel so healthy and soft. It’s a game changer for my dead ends. It really does help with giving it a natural shine and getting rid of the dryness. I use this every time I get out of the shower and need to blow dry my hair. The bottle does also state that has been shown to give a quicker dry time. And I’m not sure how this magic works but I did do a test trial to see if it’s ... MoreI cannot express to you guys that this product had changed the hair game for me. Well it turns out the hype about Olaplex seems pretty legit to me! I recently started using several of the products and can seriously see and feel a difference in my hair. The line is a little pricey for the amount of product you get but you do get the results you're looking for. This oil is one of my favorite items I've tried from Olaplex. I have super fine damaged blonde hair and I always have to worry about hair oil weighing my hair down too much and leaving it limp and greasy - and super happy to say that doesn't happen with this oil! The packaging is super helpful in that respect because you turn it over and just tap out a little metered drop of the product. A little goes a long way and thankfully the dispenser helps avoid overuse. My hair feels healthy and ... MoreWell it turns out the hype about Olaplex seems pretty legit to me! I think it works well mixed with the #6 as others have mentioned, and it also performs well alone on it's own. So glad I tried it! Of course you can get this at Sephora or Ulta, but I was surprised to find it at Walgreens for the same price.

I had never heard of this line before happen upon a random article. After more research and seeing the hype, I had to try it. I bought the shampoo, conditioner, and number 3 binder first, but while my hair was super shiny and a vast improvement, I still had flyaways around my layers and a little dryness on the ends. Enter #7 oil. Super lightweight and clean smelling. It does not weigh down hair at all or make it greasy looking, but tames the flyaways and frizz and gives the hair a shiny, hydrated look. I don’t think I will ever not use this line. This oil is also especially useful before flat ironing to prevent damage and after if anything appears dry. You just don’t want to be too heavy handed because a little goes a long way.

I'm so in love with this oil I've been buying it as gifts for friends and family! It's almost a dry oil it's so lightweight, but very very effective at smoothing hair and eliminating frizz, I have thick hair but don't usually get on well with oils, often ending up greasy looking even when applying as little as possible, very frustrating when you've just done your hair! I suffer from poor health which has led to me spending several months in hospital over the last few years, and my hair certainly showed the damage to my overall wellbeing - in fact I had to have a huge chunk cut off because it was just a ball of tangled, broken strands. Since I began using this I've noticed a massive difference, it's almost like my hair has been laminated, it remains perfectly ... MoreI'm so in love with this oil I've been buying it as gifts for friends and family! I suffer from poor health which has led to me spending several months in hospital over the last few years, and my hair certainly showed the damage to my overall wellbeing - in fact I had to have a huge chunk cut off because it was just a ball of tangled, broken strands. Since I began using this I've noticed a massive difference, it's almost like my hair has been laminated, it remains perfectly straight after blow drying and straightening, and is so silky that I could honestly go a few days without brushing it and it wouldn't have any tangles at all, brilliant for me as my disability makes haircare difficult for me to do alone. The texture of my hair is so soft even several days after washing, not greasy, just lovely satiny strands! My mum raves about this too now that I've introduced her to it, she has naturally very curly but fine hair, which equals major frizz as she lives in a hot and humid climate, she has also noticed how this oil keeps your hair behaving itself for days, even when it's been abused through blow drying and straightening. It lasts forever too since it's so concentrated, I'm on the same bottle used for the last 8 months and there's about 3/4 left! Definitely worth the price, given that it functions as heat protection, anti frizz, nourishing treatment, and shine perfecting, I don't see the need to add any other products to my post wash regime!

FINALLY!!!!!! A product that works!

My hair is naturally ringlet-curly, but the ringlets were always noticeably frizzy. Over the decades I’ve tried oils, creams, mousse, gels, lotions, & potions to try and tame them. I gave up & would blowout my ringlets then straighten my hair, then slather with product. It worked for a while. Enter Covid Hair Loss!! I knew I needed to be gentle with my hair because it was now extremely fragile, which meant cutting way back on heat tools. After an exhaustive search for something new to tame the ringlet-frizz I now had back by letting my hair air dry, I landed on Olaplex No. 7. I honestly did not put a lot of faith in it, but I do now! I do use a diffuser just to hit my roots for volume, but that’s it. I went from unruly frizzy curls, to blownout & straightened, to naturally curly shiny non-frizzy hair. I give all credit to this oil. It is helping me maintain a polished, professional appearance.

Only meant for ends

If this is making your hair oily, you're using it wrong. Don't follow the directions. Olaplex wants to make money, period. It should NOT be used on wet hair. Oil and water don't mix. It is meant for the ends of dried hair. You should not be able to feel it in your hair, but it is there. It seals the ends so the moisture does not escape. Your ends literally disintegrate from dryness. That's why it seems you hair isn't growing. This is the lightest heat protector I've used. My hair is very thin, seems to get thinner every day. Breaking off, dry, damaged, highlights, curly and thin. Most heat protectants make my hair feel like there's something in it, which makes me feel like I need to wash it again.. which kinda adds even more damage because I've been trying to just wash 2-3x/week because I use the blow dryer brush then straightening iron afterwards to reduce frizz. My hair is seriously in bad shape lately so I'm glad I found a lightweight heat protector. It's so light part of me wonders if I'm using enough. I hope it helps with the fried hair. The instructions say to use "a metered drop" but I don't feel like that's enough even though my hair is super thin, and shoulder length. Maybe I'm wrong, I'd love some feedback on how many drops everyone uses and I would also love to know like.. how heat protectors work. Obviously it can't reduce all the damage.. but, maybe how much % less damage do you get when you use this? I like it because it's lightweight and you'd have to spend a lot of time getting too much out, so I don't run the risk of using too much product, because I have a bad habit of that since my hair is in such bad shape. I'm always trying to add more products to make it "appear" healthier. I also use the #3 and I really like that. About to purchase my 2nd bottle of that along with the primer and hopefully it will help my hair out. This is a small bottle but it will DEFINITELY last me probably close to a year.. maybe a little less, but close, so it seems worth it to me. Adds a pretty shine, doesn't help my flyaways much, I guess I just have too many at the current moment :(

The best bonding oil I have ever used
10 July 2022

This review is honest and all opinions/thoughts are my own.* I have been using the Olaplex No.7 Bonding oil since 2019 and I am still obsessed with it; I went through an entire bottle of it which took me about a year and I am working on my second one now. This one has lasted me much longer as I have been using other hair products in the last couple of years also. However, this one is still my favorite and I will continue to purchase this forever. For $30 you get a 1 fluid ounce size; do NOT let the size fool you or make you believe it is overpriced. I promise it's worth every penny; if you use the product sparingly and as you are supposed to, it will last you a year. I promise it's worth every penny; if you use the product sparingly and as you are supposed to, it will last you a year. When I first started using Olaplex I overused the products and quickly learned how truly concentrated they are; you only need a little bit which means it really is effective and concentrated. The smell of No.7 is heavenly; it reminds me of Christmas because it has a pine smell but it also reminds me when I go camping. I just love it. After I have showered and used my Olaplex No.4 & No.5 (the shampoo and conditioner), I like to use just a couple drops and cocktail this with my No. 6 Bond Smoother; you do NOT have to use it with No. 6 as I have used it alone and it works nicely but when I do my hair after a shower I like to move through my regimen faster rather than slower. I rub No.6 & No.7 together and distribute it throughout my hair, focusing on mid length to ends and the top layer of my hair where the sun hits it. No.7 soaks into my hair without being greasy and feels absolutely incredible when I run my fingers through my hair. It is so easy to comb through my hair too; I am a natural brunette with hair that goes past my breasts. I do not color treat or bleach my hair; it is naturally curly and I try to use as little heat as possible. I have medium texture hair but alot of it; I go about six months before cutting it due to it not being damaged and I absolutely attribute that to using my Olaplex system. I have natural split ends that comes from sun damage, brushing and having my hair pulled back for work; I use my Olaplex masks and No. 7 to help seal my split ends and reduce damage. No.7 will always be my favorite bonding oil.

smells like fruity pebbles ???
4 October 2022

i have mixed grade hair that i straighten from time to time. i was really anticipating trying this product since i hadn't found a light oil that kept my hair happy without making it greasy while i wore it straight. FOR THE RECORD my hair is keratin treated, and lightened around the edges as well. i used the no.9 serum to blow dry & this oil to flatiron, & it's virtually weightless. granted, it's kinda hard to get a decent amount out, but it's made my damaged ends more manageable & softer. also it literally smells like fruity pebbles omg. i've only used it like twice so i can't attest to longevity but like, even after getting out enough to cover my palms SEVERAL times, it looks like i haven't even touched the bottle. made my straightened hair SO shiny, which i've ... Morei have mixed grade hair that i straighten from time to time. i was really anticipating trying this product since i hadn't found a light oil that kept my hair happy without making it greasy while i wore it straight. TBH not a miracle product all on its own, but i see no cons < 3 i think it'll last long enough to be worth the cost.
