Olay Regenerist Retinol 24 Night Eye Cream, 0.5 fl oz

I already have a few retinol-based products for evening use, so this new night cream from Olay fits right into my night-time routine. As a person with dry, mature skin, I am all about anti-ageing skin care, especially when it is full of hero-ingredients, like retinoid complex and Niacinamide that can really firm and hydrate my skin and work on my fine lines. First let’s just take a moment to appreciate the beautiful packaging – the rich violet with silver accents and a fluted design that gives such a luxe appearance. But the most important consideration – does it perform? In a word - absolutely! This night moisturiser is awesome – with the texture of freshly whipped cream it is a dream to apply. Thick, but still light, only a small amount is needed to moisturize my whole face, and it feels wonderful on my skin – cool, hydrating and easily absorbed. At the same time my skin seems to have a protective layer. The real effect is found the next morning when I wake up to very soft and glowing skin. It’s great to see more products becoming fragrance-free and Olay have followed this trend, making their night cream safe for sensitive skin so it can be recommended for most people. I don’t have particularly sensitive skin, but I have reacted to highly scented products in the past so unscented skin-care is always safest. It sounds like they have tried to eliminate some of the nasties (like sulphates) as well. I really can’t see any negatives to Regenerist night cream and think it would suit most people. Too soon to tell if this cream has reduced my fine lines, but my skin feels great, so off to a good start.

The product is fragrance free which ticks another box or me - not that I am sensitive to fragrance in general, but scent is such a subjective quality which can make or break. The Retinol 24 range contains Retinyl Propionate (a retinol ester) and also retinol as active ingredients. Also contained in the mix is niaccinamide which, from a brief search of academic research paper, works in synergy with retinyl propionate to improve the appearance of aging skin. Impressively, matrixyl is also included (albeit as the last ingredient) which has proven track record as a line-reduction ingredient. Since retinol can be a very powerful ingredient, the trial instruction is to start this slowly (2-3 times a week) and gradually build up skin tolerance. Luckily for me, no sensitivity is observed so far. That said, it is almost impossible to observe results from such a brief usage and haven't been using this daily. However, my skin is liking this night cream so far and I intend to build the usage up in the near future. I seldom give a full score based on a short usage, but the first impression has been very impressive.

However, even though I used it regularly as recommended during Summer, I did not get any reaction to it. I did wear SPF sunscreen during the day, but even with frequent periods of time outdoors, there was still no reaction !The cream is lightweight to apply and did not feel heavy on my skin. I woke up with my face feeling velvety smooth but was not greasy or causing breakouts. After using the Night Cream for several months now, my skin texture is definitely smoother and the tone is more even. This is such a good retinol eye cream. I just wanted to write something positive about this product because when using retinols you have to start slow. Retinol increases cell turn over and with stronger retinols the vast majority of people will experience irritation. Start using a couple of times a week and use a moisturising eye cream first then layer this on top. Then slowly just use this and then increase but it isnt needed any more than every other night. I started slow and in a couple of months got to every other night and Ive seen a big difference in my under eye and crows feet. Dont be put off by negative reviews just start slow.

It was nice at 1st, but then....

At 1st I loved this product! Very silky and smooth. Made my skin feel very soft. But after a few weeks of using I started noticing a white spot starting to form under my left eye. It's very noticeable and annoying!!! I bought this product to help get rid of wrinkles, lines and other problems I'm having with my skin, not make more problems for it!! And to top it all off I had originally set up a subscription for this product and it got sent to me before I realized I didn't want it anymore so now I have a brand new, unopened jar that I paid for and can't use and its past the 30 day return policy so I'm stuck with it.

Lovely to apply, but made skin flaky

I was chosen to trial the Olay Regenerist Retinol 24 Night Eye Cream. I was really excited, and keen to see if it would help my under eye circles.I used it every second night, along with the Retinol 24 Night Moisturiser Cream. as suggested to avoid irritation. The little pot is classy, and very generous with the amount that is in it, and the cream felt beautiful. Applying it was really nice and really easy – it was so velvety, and had the perfect consistency to allow me to pat it around the eye but to then sink in quickly, leaving no sticky feeling. I persevered every second night, hoping to get used to the cream. (NB. The Night Moisturiser did the same to my face, but after just 2 applications). After each subsequent application, these dry patches got worse – and could be seen clearly once I applied concealer and powder under my eyes. Luckily I am WFH due to COVID-19, and I’m sure it couldn’t have been spotted on my daily work video conference calls! The dryness spread to my eyelids and then in my eyebrows, which was a bit gross.I don’t usually have any skin sensitivities - I can use any product - but the dry patches I experienced while using it for over 3 weeks, and the fact I saw no improvement in my under eye shadows or in my little lines at the outside of my eyes in texture, means I wouldn’t use it again. I stopped once the trial period was finished.I did really enjoy applying it though, and I so wished it had worked, or at least not irritated my skin around my eyes. It was a really nice product to apply.

My Eyes are in fire four days after using once

I purchased Reginerist as I have run out of my Lancôme product. After reading these reviews, this product should be removed from the market.I used this product one time, four days ago. The next morning my eyes were burning, but not red. Over the course of the next three days my eyes are still burning and I have painful, giant circles around both.This rash literally looks like raccoon eyes except the circles are bright pink.I’m calling Olay tomorrow.
