I received this as a freebie with a binocular purchase. I was not going to bother with a review, but had an experience that changed my mind. I was at the beach at sunset, low tide, and noticed a kayaker in distress stuck in the mud offshore. I went to his aid, and he managed to refloat his boat and land on a rocky outcrop. We secured his boat to a shoreline tree and began a slow half mile trek back to the parking area. This little light that was attached to my key fob was our only source of light over the rocky terrain as dusk turned to darkness. It guided both of us back to safety and was also able to signal friends in the distance that we were safe and on the move. I will never be without it.

Great flashlight. Great light. One caveat though. My flashlight had the B+H insignia etched into the barrel of the flashlight. While I love B+H Photo, I don't think that the logo should be there.Otherwise, no issues. Reserve these etched models for the giveaway segment of the business. Or, as an added incentive when you buy another product.

So it's tiny, and it's bright. It fits easily on a keychain, and uses a prevalent AAA battery. And it was "free" with the purchase of a surefire weapon light (not free).... On the negative stars side of things, it's a twist-to-activate design which requires two hands to use because it is so small. And being that if you continue twisting (to install a battery), I feel like every time I turn the light on, I'm possibly breaking the o-ring seal that prevent water and lint from entering the light. I'm sure that probably won't happen, let's just say I'd prefer a tail cap switch or another style of activation that doesn't require two hands to use and a less arbitrary point of activation. Aesthetically, the anodizing (if it is anodizing) looks cheap and the graphics are too prominent, but will likely wear off in a few days anyway. But this is all coming from a guy who will pay $300- or more- for a flashlight, so my standards are probably pretty far beyond what this light can achieve at $0.

Small but very comfortable
7 April 2023

This flashlight was offered as a promotional item with a Nikon binocular purchase. I didn't expect much from it, but when I received it, I changed my mind. Firstly, it's so small that it doesn't stand out among my keys. Additionally, it's bright enough to light up the road or illuminate something. The AAA battery charge lasts for about an hour of continuous use, but if you only use it occasionally, I think it will last for a whole year. Overall, I bought a second one for my wife, and I kept this one with the V&N logo for myself.

Surprise! The freebie is actually excellent.
19 October 2021

I was not expecting a freebie when I made my purchase and I did not need a mini flashlight but since it was so small and free I was curious.I was still skeptical when I received it in a letter-size envelope in the mail as it is smaller than I expected but the build quality was good and its small size is actually correct for my keychain (see photo). Then I turned it on and voil!, it's really bright and casts a wide cone of light. (See photo showing my back fence lit up at 40 feet distance). The apparent brightness in the photo is accurate, taken at ISO 6400 at f4 with a 30mm f3.5 lens (60mm equivalent in full-frame).I've already put it to good use a few times and it's very handy. I love it!

Unbelievably Bright!
1 October 2022

This tiny flashlight is undoubtedly the brightest light I have ever owned. Do not ever look into it when it's turned on! I also like the fact (although it surprised me) that it's turned on by literally turning the end, screwing it down more tightly, not by pressing a button or flipping a switch. This light will not accidentally turn on in one's pocket. The sole reason I did not rate it at five stars is that it's almost too small and hence may be easily lost. I am keeping it in my hobby room to use when I need an extremely bright light in a small device to see minute models being assembled or to find tiny parts that may have been dropped.

Unobtrusive, bright, easy to operate, simple, robust
15 December 2021

TL;DR: lightweight, tiny, can be carried in a pocket unobtrusively, bright, easy to operate, simple, robust In detail: I live off-grid in the sticks, so a torch is an essential item and much used. My LED Lenser P3 switch finally gave up after 3 1/2 years use, so after reading the many good reviews on the O i3E I decided to give it a try. The reviews were also favourable about durability, unlike the P3 with its switch problem which came up a lot, so I will trust it on that point, but can't yet rate durability. However, the torch has impressed me enough in all other respects for me to order another one for backup. My P3 still works if I bridge the battery and case with a paper clip, so I compared the two with the same battery. No contest! The O i3E blew the P3 out of ... MoreTL;DR: lightweight, tiny, can be carried in a pocket unobtrusively, bright, easy to operate, simple, robust In detail: I live off-grid in the sticks, so a torch is an essential item and much used. However, the torch has impressed me enough in all other respects for me to order another one for backup. My P3 still works if I bridge the battery and case with a paper clip, so I compared the two with the same battery. No contest! The O i3E blew the P3 out of the water with brightness. Although it cannot focus, the overall brightness does carry quite a distance. With it's tiny size and low weight I don't notice it at all in my trouser pocket, whereas the P3 was too big and heavy for actually storing in my pocket. Both, of course, have the great advantage over other mini torches that they use one of the most versatile power sources - an AAA battery, universally available in both disposable and re-chargable form, and sharable with other devices, making it a more secure and robust choice when out and about for a prolonged period. You can always put a few extra batteries in your pocket, or may be able to buy some. There are also plenty of car battery chargers for AAAs. One last thing about the O i3E. Whilst a simple on-off switch makes single hand use easy, it is still easy to operate the O i3E's switch with the same hand holding it. Switches are often the weak point of a torch, especially those you have to cycle through, so a twist to separate the battery from the lens is probably as robust as you can get. It remains to be seen if the extra brightness comes at the expense of greater power consumption, or if the light is just better concentrated or more efficient. As for the P3, in case anyone is on the fence, irrespective of its shortcoming, it does have one useful feature - the beam, so I decided it was still worth getting another one as more backup with that valuable extra feature for when I have to find a missing animal or investigate some odd goings on. I also have a head torch for the more critical jobs, especially where both hands need to be free, but it uses a fair bit of power, and often there is a need to get to the place of need, and a smaller torch will get you there just as well and more efficiently. Then switch over to head torch use ifneeded. I consider them all as a complementary team.

Very bright in a tiny size
14 July 2023

I got this as a free gift when I purchased a Fenix LD30 for $70. I was so impressed by this tiny flashlight I wanted to leave a review, and I will probably buy a few additional with my next order. The specs say 90 lumens but it seems brighter than that, possibly due to the concentrated beam size. It's definitely brighter than a larger model I have, the Duracell 500 model from Costco that takes 2 AAA batteries. The size is tiny, so it won't take up any room in a pocket, glove box, etc...The only downsides are you have to twist the head to turn it on/off rather than a button, but it's so small I don't even know where they'd put a button. The size could also be a downside, making it easy to lose versus a more standard size model. But for the brightness and the ... MoreI got this as a free gift when I purchased a Fenix LD30 for $70. Well built and handy
16 January 2023

I was skeptical of this product at first after having had several key chain type flashlights in the past that were little more than toys. Boy, was I wrong! This is a very well constructed little powerhouse of a flashlight. It uses easily available AAA batteries and has a positive on/off switch (twist the lens cover). I gave it to my wife for her key chain and she loves it. It's always available to search for things that get dropped or to light her way to her car or our front door. I plan to get another for myself.
