Compact, lightweight and better-than-ever, the black OM-D E-M10 Mark III from Olympus takes its place as an extremely capable entry-level option for shooters looking to pick up an SLR-styled mirrorless Micro Four Thirds camera. This version comes bundled with the compact M.Zuiko Digital ED 14-42mm f/3.5-5.6 EZ Lens, which provides a versatile 28-84mm equivalent zoom range for capturing a variety of subject matter. Also, this kit comes with a 16GB SDHC memory card and a camera case, practically everything you need to go out and start shooting. This iteration incorporates a 16.1MP Four Thirds Live MOS sensor and the Dual Quad-Core TruePic VIII Image Processor, enabling a variety of fast and powerful functions, including video recording at up to UHD 4K. The camera does retain its intuitive and rugged construction, benefitting from many physical controls as well as a 3.0" tilting touchscreen LCD and a 2.36m-dot electronic viewfinder with an improved 1.23x magnification. Additionally, various other functions have been implemented to make shooting more fun, such as 15 Art Filters and a Clips Video Mode that lets you quickly make videos in camera. The E-M10 Mark III features many capabilities to improve overall image quality. The most significant of these is the inclusion of a robust in-body 5-axis image stabilization system that can compensate for about 4 stops of shutter speed. Along with this, an upgraded 121-point contrast-detect AF system will help you lock on, track, and capture tack-sharp photos of your subjects. Speed has been given a boost as well with up to 8.6 fps continuous shooting and a sensitivity range of up to ISO 25600. An electronic shutter function is present in the Mark III for even faster shutter speeds and silent shooting. Beyond all this, the camera of course features built-in Wi-Fi, this time with a QR Code function for even faster setup.

Amazing Camera for Beginners and More Experienced Photographers

I have had this camera for only two weeks and I cannot say enough good things about it, It has improved ergonomics and handling over its predecessor, not to mention 4k video. User interface is improved over my older Olympus Pen E-PL7. Imaging quality is also amazing with a dramatic reduction in size and weight compared to APS and full-frame formats. It is so small and unobtrusive that people do not even notice you are taking pictures. Don't let anyone tell you that micro 4/3 has inferior image quality. The only small differences you are likely to see are at ISOs of greater than 6400, which you ordinarily will not use or need anyway. Color rendition is also beautiful. Best value in it's class. Small form factor is a bonus if you like that sort of thing.

It basically punches above it's class so it's a really good value. Got my new/refurbished for $299. Compare it to what a GX85 (which I've also owned) is selling for and realize it does just as much plus a little bit more. The colors straight out of the camera I find very pleasing, the IBIS is rated at 4-stops, and the design is appealing to me. I use mine for shooting video mostly, but the stills out of the camera are beautiful as well. The only con I have at this point is that the menu settings for video shooting have been "dumbed down" from the e10ii, and that's kid of silly, but to be expected for a entry level camera I suppose.

I really want to like this camera but am not impressed with the autofocus and I continue to try all of the options. Bought it as a travel camera and especially with the EZ kit lens its really convenient and easy to carry (but wish it had a more pronounced grip). This lens is almost too small to zoom while shooting but takes reasonable pictures in good light. Also got the 12-45 f/4 zoom which improves feel and handling and seems to offer better image quality especially in lower light.

I absolutely love my new Olympus M10 III camera
16 June 2020

I had done quite a lot of homework once I decided to invest in a new camera, replacing my iPad and iPhone. I was mystified by the Lumix I had 10 years ago, but for the most part, the Olympus camera takes the mystery out of photography and adds pleasure. I love the online courses, and the YouTube recommendations and hints are magnificent. I purchased my camera at the perfect time, when I am sequestered and have plenty of time to explore its features. I am In absolute love with the explanations that appear on the screen to help me remember what a feature can do. At 79, I can't remember everything, and the screen hints and definitions are so much better than writing a cheat sheet on the palm of my hand.

After years of using Canon products I finally decided to have a change and I am really pleased I did, this is a lovely camera. It is not a large camera, but all the buttons and controls are easy to use. The camera also has a touch screen which I am still trying to get used to. It is a good weight and feels good in my hands, it will be a great camera to travel with. Picture quality is superb, although you do need to go hunting in the menu's to find the Super Fine image option (it is worth doing). I mostly use RAW for my images and the colour reproduction is excellent, and images look crisp and sharp, with only minor post editing. My one gripe is I ordered the standard lens and not the 'pancake, which help make the camera even more compact when not in use. This camera is not worth the price (low resolution, blurry view finder, the 2x crop factor will cut your light in half, no wired remote shutter available, many missing features found in its predecessor Mark II (THE MARK III IS NOT AN UPGRADE FROM THE MARK II.) . You will need an iPhone to view instruction videos and operate the camera remotely. I did some research before buying this camera. A few photography websites recommended this just below a fuji camera at 1200. I expected this camera to be as good as a dslr camera at the same price. The first thing that struck me is how lightweight the camera is with plastic parts that one would expect to be metal. I suspect it wont be as hard wearing as I thought. First trial with the camera was a little disappointing re the quality of the photos. The 40mm lens does a good job of focussing but a lot of the shots were grainy on a day with very good natural light. Im not an expert but I think the 16megapixel processing is not as good as some of the new phone cameras on the market. I will persevere with it but would reccomend you try before you buy.

Good Points: Amazing tech in such a small package. So light to use, as are the lenses. Some of the built in filters, such as b&w give stunning photos. Time lapse features are best I’ve tried.Improvement Points: Sometimes may feel too small, grips available but I’ve not tried them.A few lenses at a decent price then starts to get expensive. On some landscape and other distant, detailed shots the sensor size struggles a little.

Underwhelming
26 February 2019

I originally bought this camera to record 4K stock footage, its smaller and lighter than a dslr and can be activated quickly. I took shots with it in the Sierras just after a snow storm on a sunny clear day. I also happened to have my Canon 5DIII with me so I shot the same shots with the Canon (yes I know its not a fair comparison but it is at least a contrast). Even with a good exposure on a sunny day using a variety of lenses the Olympus image quality was poor by any measure. In a bright blue sky there was an unacceptable amount of color noise that indicates either a poorly performing sensor, or poorly designed color science to process the image data. The same shots with the Canon showed no discernible color noise. Didnt really matter because I bought the camera ... MoreI originally bought this camera to record 4K stock footage, its smaller and lighter than a dslr and can be activated quickly. The same shots with the Canon showed no discernible color noise. Didnt really matter because I bought the camera for video anyway. More disappointment came when watching the video clips I recorded. The 5 axis in-camera stabilization was useless for hand held shots, giving a floaty, and in some cases blurred with a jello, artificial look. The dynamic range looks poor and the clips are not rich in color, try to pump them up and they start falling apart. The shots with the Canon turned out well enough, even the handheld shots could be stabilized in post and it gave a rich image quality. I wanted this camera to be the answer but itjust doesnt excel at anything and is underwhelming in the most important area to me: Image Quality.

I'm using Olympus cameras and lenses for over 10 years. Starting from simple EPL1 all the way to OMD E-M10 Mark II. I jumped from Mark II to Mark IV only because the sensor is 20MP vs 16MP for Mark II and all previous models. I have a wide selection on M4/3 lenses and let my 12 years old daughter to have the test run of the camera. She is a novice in digital photography, but she was able to take amassing shots. I'm very happy with the new features, new specs. Excellent compact camera for home use. I'm not comparing it to the professional cameras which costs $3-5K. Another comment - due to COVID Vietnamese factories are down. I live in Singapore, Singapore warehouses are sold out on this model. I had to order from the US.
