Olympus OM-D E-M10 Mark III Digital Camera Body Black

I've owned five Olympus cameras over the last 45 years. The OM-D E-10 Mark IIIs that I recently purchased from B&H is the fifth in a series of all very different, yet all very excellent cameras. I used this camera extensively for the next several years.I needed a camera to travel with, and since I was so satisfied with my OM-1n (which I never took whiletraveling for fear of it being stolen), I bought an Olympus Stylus 35mm compact camera which gave me the ability to be quick while taking a picture. Slide the front cover open, point, and shoot. Excellent auto focus and small form factor allowed me to take great pictures anywhere I went with virtually no set up or put away time. Amazing, crisp pictures on every shot.My third Olympus, and my first venture into digital photography, was an Olympus Camedia C-5060 Wide Zoom. This camera turned out to be an amazing workhorse of a camera. I used it to create and publish the manual for a medical clinic where Iworked at the time. The pictures were tack sharp and easy to work with. The owner of the clinic was so pleased he asked me to write and shoot the pharmacy manual as well. For years, this camera was my "go to" instrument when I had to get it right on the first shot. I still have the camera, it still works like a champ, and it has never let me down.My next Olympus was an E-PL1. In this case, I wanted a compact camera, again with traveling in mind, which was simple to use (take out, turn on, click, put away) and provided the ability to change lenses. This camera was slightly smaller than apack of cigarettes. With a skylight filter to protect the glass I was ready to go! This was my first venture into the Micro Four-thirds format, and again, I was amazed at the quality and crispness of the pictures it took. An amazing array of high quality Zuiko lenses were available as well. This camera served me very nicely and I ended upgiving the camera to a lifelong best friend of mine who was just starting to consider the plunge into the digital world.And so here we are with my latest Olympus, the OM-D E-10 Mark IIIs. I was already familiar with, and had a good bit of experience with, the Micro Four-thirds format, so I didn't hesitate to take the plunge. The price point at B&H was excellent, too. I'm retired now, living on a pension, and the moneyrequired fit my budget. The camera is light and compact and will not give you a neck ache if you carry it around all day, as so many full-sized DSLRs will. Perhaps about 90% of this camera's capabilities I will rarely or never use, but they are there in case I need them. The quality of the Olympus line is still there, just as it was with my OM-1n. Olympus was way ahead of the pack with mirrorless camera makers, which are just now trying to catch up.If you are a pro, Olympus has some excellent camera bodies and glass for you. If you are like me, enjoying a weekend outing to photograph the local area and enjoy the true Zen of photography, the Olympus Micro Four-thirds system is for you as well. Olympus provides many excellent options lens-wise that should satisfy everyone. There are also quite a few other lens makers who make wonderful lenses for all Micro Four-thirds cameras at virtually all price points.I'm not going to attempt to dazzle you with the technical details. There are plenty of reviews on line that will try to do that. Olympus provides the actual manual for Olympus cameras on their web site so that you can review the full capabilities of this little wonder before your purchase. I will saythat the OM-D E-10 Mark IIIs is like having a more compact version of my OM-1n back again. It's a solid, well made, precision marvel that is capable of anything you will ever need it to do. Camera made of aluminum: and I can't lock shut the bottom cover. I tried numerous times. I am trying to return the camera, and lenses, and a tripod head which is so heavy I can't carry it as I am a petite 5 foot 1 inch woman.I am an advance amateur photographer who was decades ago, an Eastman Kodak Technical Sales Representative who was excellent.

I'm new to photography and chose this camera on recommendation from a friend. The appearance and build quality are superb. I appreciate the flexibility of being able to shoot in AUTO as I learn how to shoot manually. The UI is a little daunting, but with practice and quick study of the manual, it's fairly easy to pick up. I love my new hobby and this is the perfect camera for my skill level.
