I keep on in each of my cars just in case I need to document a scene or grab an interesting shot. These cameras are extremely tough and durable. Images are excellent with good focus, good color, and modest, but useful zoom range. Excellent handling and ergonomics - once you get used to it. It was a lot of money for us but we love to snorkel on vacation and had an older version of this camera that we loved so I pulled the trigger. Because of covid (we weren't able to travel), we have only used this camera once (snorkeling in Mexico). We took it to Mexico last month and it wouldn't charge. We thought maybe it was the outlets but that wasn't it. When we got home we bought a new battery and it still wouldn't work. We are pretty upset. It's a ton of money anyway but to only work once? We called and were told the only option was to pay $175 (approximately) to have it fixed. I really don't want to put anymore money into something that obviously isn't a good product. With the option to save RAW (you don't need to also bother saving jpegs), I can make use of my arsenal of RAW processing app to make full use of the sensor resolution, making the image adjustments I want.Macro shooting -- MUCH better than my old TG camera. Full frame (4x3 aspect) RAW. But, best of all is the Focus Bracketing feature that does along with the macro mode, which allows you to rapidly shoot a focus bracketing image set with one press of the shutter, a couple dozen images taking just a couple seconds. I have lost count of the times I was going to grab my old TG series camera to take a photo only to find that the battery was flat, after a couple month unused. Since the battery looks like the same one Olympus has been using for a while (same physical size), I hope but am not expecting this self-discharge to have improved. I'll plan on calendar reminders to top off the charge, once a month, until I find out how often that might be needed, if at all.There is still much to test this camera on, but having something that I won't worry about, in my rainy climate, that takes decent photos, can save RAW files and has stellar macro functionality, is a hit. No regrets about buying the TG-6.
Our family decided to take the big trip to Hawaii this year and my daughter (17 y) has gotten the photography bug. She has a Nikon D500 and to start with I thought I would get her a housing for that.After looking them all over I realized I could buy this for about the same price as a housing and I wouldn't have to worry about any leak or dripping harming her D500. I figured it would not take as high quality picture, but she won't do that much underwater photography.Boy was I wrong about the quality of this little camera! Take a look at some of the pictures she took. She said the white balance settings were tremendous and the zoom worked so much better than she thought it would. This is one of the best purchases I have ever made!

Some type of lens barrier is a must, I'm using the little twist cap but have also used the accessory adapter with a UV filter. The most common point of failure is the zoom lever so even though it's sturdy try to keep that protected. A cheap external battery charger is nice to have. If you need more than incidental waterproofing, a housing is a must, incidental meaning you can spill a beer on it or drop it in the pool but saltwater and sand are still going to be issues. The long end of the zoom range is soft at distance but excellent for macro, while the wide end can't focus very close but is nice and sharp.

If this one's a write-off then I think I'll get another Nikon.

I went to these tough cameras for serious hiking and I don't want to carry a tripod, nor do I have the time to set it up. I have a better camera for that.The buttons on the TG-6 are so tiny. I am such a diminutive person, I can't imagine some people with large fingers using it. Furthermore, there are two separate doors, one for the battery and card and another for the charging and connecting. The TG-860 had one door for all. Each door has two levers to push, which is a safety feature to keep it watertight. It's not foolproof because it's possible to close the door and have one open. In general the menus are not user friendly, that is dummy proof. The one feature I really love on the TG-6 is what the manual calls the control dial. In the program mode, you can adjust how much light is coming in to the lens much like an old single lens reflex. If you want a lot of bells and whistles and are kind of a techy, you might not find all these things so challenging. The TG-860 was easier to operate. One dial gave you all the choices without necessitating going through so many menus.
Pro: Waterproof, GPS, WiFi connection to smart phone, comfortable grip, one handed operation (as long as you don't need to select something different on the mode dial), Macro capability, movie capability (mostly short videos for me), more than enough options than necessary.Con: Lighting (the flash) not trust worthy (bought flash diffuser and macro ring light to hopefully cure this issue will rate those later), Zoom does not get as close as I need it at times, GPS will eat up battery time if not careful.I use this in my Home Inspection business (just starting out) and the biggest downfall is the zoom. Often times I cannot get close enough to the end of the truss where it sits on the wall. The best feature I enjoy when using this camera is the WiFi connectivity to my smart phone (iPhone 11). There are a few steps to get it connected but once there it's all fun and games.Overall if you are just a weekender wanting to get a few family shots in this is a decent camera. If you are using it for a business like mine you may want to consider a different point and shoot especially if you are needing to zoom in from a distance.
