I love the original Cloudmonster and had two pairs each with 600 miles on them. The Eclipse is firmer and more responsive. It’s a great allround trainer suitable for easy runs to tempo runs. The fit and quality are great.

Super soft shoe, softer than the surfer which is softer than the monster. Unfortunately left shoe began to squeak within a month or so, so bad I could no longer wear them; had to return. Luckily an REI member - no hassle. Would be 5 Stars easy without the squeak.

Having heard good things about these shows I decided to give them a try. I have been a long time user of Hoka, I will say the comfort and stability are similar. While I wish they provided more colors, I am fine with what is available. My biggest complaint, and is why I am going back to Hokas, is the top of the heal (can't figure the exact term). It is old school and will double over into the shoe when putting them on, causing me to fish it out. On top of that the seam is along the top and also tends to fold into itself. So I have to fish out the whole thing and spend time pushing the seam back out. If they fix that I might try again.

Love the cushioning these shoes provide. I tried Brooks Ghost Max and Hoka Bondi 8, neither compared as well with comfort and cushioned ride like the Cloudeclipse. I am new to this brand, but really like the way these make my runs more comfortable. Fit is true to size from the other top brands of running shoes.
This is my second Eclipse. Bought my first about 6 months ago. It's fun walking on them. Just the best for comfort and out on my runs. No sore feet and back after. No squeek either.
Excellent shoe, moved to Cloudeclipse after Cloudmonster 1. Lots of room in the toe box, was initially concerned but definitely helps with overall comfort. Well dickered shoe, great for 5-7 mile pavement runs. True to size, half size up from street shoes. Lockdown is also excellent.
I was lucky and found these in Re-supply 2 weeks after they released for $72.84. They replaced one month old Asics Gel-Excite 10's which I thought were soft and cushioning, there's no comparison in terms of comfort and the amount of joint impact these have reduced, the difference is huge. I went from running 5k before I felt hammered to 2 - 10k runs this past week. In the short time I've had these I already put 70 miles on them in less time than the Asics. The Asics will become my walking shoes.
These replaced my Hoka Clifton 9s because they have toebox space without sacrificing the lockdown. I found the hoka tight and my feet were sore even though the cushioning was good on the hoka. Now with the eclipse I get actually more cushioning and stability due to the speed board. My feet no longer are sore and therefore I’m able to put more miles on these with ease. I’m a fast walker and steady jogger and do a minimum of 5 miles daily. I noticed that my stride was straighter with the eclipse, in my hoka I seemed to have to correct my stride every now and then. The eclipse in my opinion is better looking so it is my all day shoe, a lifestyle, walking, running, and gym shoe. I’ve put about 350 miles on them and they still look great.
I used my Anniversary Sale coupon for this item and was very excited to receive them. Unfortunately, upon opening the box, it was extremely clear that these shoes had been used. I know shoes occasionally get worn in stores and receive some light dirt pick-up, but these look like someone took them out for a 10k and decided to return them. The soles (see photos) are clearly dirty. The bright orange color the bottoms are supposed to be is brown with dirt. Even the mid-bridge has dirt on it. Highly disappointed in this purchase and will need to reconsider ordering shoes from REI. With great customer service policies unfortunately comes people using them to their full advantage. I am very disappointed REI would sell this as a 'new' item and hope they can help me resolve ... MoreI used my Anniversary Sale coupon for this item and was very excited to receive them. I wanted to try on clouds as a work shoe and saw these ones had a thick sole, which is great for walking on concrete floors for hours at a time. They were great for about two weeks. Then the squeaking started, I thought maybe it was just walking on the cement but I tested it on carpet and there was still squeaking. The fit is nice and comfortable but the squeaking is unbearable. If they didn’t make so much noise, I would get them again.
