A Worthwhile Upgrade

I bought a OnePlus 5 in 2017, and it has proved to be an excellent phone over the last five years. Although it's still working well it was time for an upgrade, and so I chose the OnePlus 10 Pro 5G. It's slightly longer than the old phone, and the excellent display occupies the full area of the screen. The Hasselblad camera has a multitude of features, which I haven't exploited yet, including "Pro", "Slo-Mo" and "Time Lapse". The photos I have taken so far are of excellent quality. The 8GB of RAM can be expanded by a further 5GB, by using some of the 128GB of storage, should you need it. I'm very satisfied with the performance of the "10 Pro 5G", and it's great for making phone calls and sending texts too.

The device is in a large red box that catches the eye. The documentation contains a letter from the Oneplus founder, a SIM removal tool, quick start guide, safety booklet, the usual Oneplus stickers (which are great). Also you will find the 65W charger with USB-C cable. Oddly enough, this is the first Oneplus phone I have purchased that does not include a case so you will need to buy one separately.Device: Initial impressions are high quality! The device is a perfect ratio that fits nicely for one-handed use. There is a built in film screen protector so that should keep your device nice for a while. The vibration switch on the right side is a little smaller than I remember on previous devices but it works well.Charging: People were upset the US Model does not come with the 80W charger but even with the 65W charger, this thing charges fast! If I forget to charge it before bed, I will toss it on the charger when I go into the shower and it will be fully juiced up when I am done getting ready, regardless of how long I take. It should still be able to get form 0-100% in just over half an hour.Screen: Outstanding quality! I love this screen. It displays up to 1440 QHD+ but buy default it is FHD+ (1080). Normally I would switch my phone to 1440 but the screen is a little smaller on this phone so I leave it in 1080 to save battery. Colors are ideal and I recommend you switch to pro mode screen color since it keeps it in P3 mode for color accuracy.Speakers: They are loud enough for me. The bottom speaker is louder than the top but they both do a good job for music and pod casts.Battery: Great! I actually sold my S22 Ultra and got this device instead because I kept having battery life problems with the S22 Ultra. This gets all day battery easily!Cameras: I am a big camera guy. I would say these are not as good as some competitors but they have a setup that just makes you want to take pictures. The main camera and UW camera are outstanding the telephoto camera is meh as it is low res and crops in to get the 3.3x zoom. The selfie cameras are also average but usable. I tend to take 90% of my photos with the wide and ultrawide camera. I have not had it long so haven't tried to get many amazing shots yet but I attached a few random photos in the review.Colors have great pop and the Hasselblad settings are fun to use. I like that shutter lag is short so I rarely miss a photo. Do yourself a favor and start playing with Pro mode to get the best photos out of this. Pair it with Lightroom for best results.Design: This phone is just beautiful! The green is amazing with a small amount of shimmer, the camera is bold... the phone is a conversation starter since everyone has Galaxy and iPhones.Performance: Top notch! This phone feels way snappier than any other Android phone I have used and it is highly optimized. Even though it only has 8gb of RAM, I notice no app closing issues. Also, be aware it uses 3GB of storage by default for virtual memory, you can increase or decrease this if you wish.Storage: This is my main complaint. The US model only comes with 128GB. I download a lot of music and take loads of photos so I am curious how this will hold up or if I will want to upgrade sooner than expected. If you know you don't use much storage, this is a non issue, if you use a lot... consider a different phone.Storage: THis i

This is a great phone, snappy and picture quality the best I've ever had actually. It said it was an open box in the ad and the price was greatly reduced. That ad was incorrect, sorry. The box had never been open, everything was new, never touched outside the factory. I was very happy and impressed. Even came with a gel screen protector already attached. There are two disappointments with this phone. One as I cannot add any more storage and the location cannot be completely turned off.

Great Phone, But Buying New Is Best Option
21 January 2023

The phone itself, when it worked was great. I bought it "open-box excellent", which according to the site, means all original parts. I only received the cord. It didn't even have a normal cell phone box. No manual, nothing. Then when I got it out, I noticed a huge crack on the back going from the bottom right corner to to the bottom left corner. After I've already had trouble with the ordering from Best Buy, I just didn't even bother calling customer service. I did notice an itty-bitty green dot on the screen when I turned it on but didn't think nothing of it.When I went online to register it on OnePlus, it kept telling me my phone was registered on someone's else's account. I couldn't even get the warranty through OnePlus. When I got the phone itself on, I was impressed. The phone worked great. It's super fast, takes great pics, and has a great system in it. It was mighty impressive. However, after less than 2 weeks of having this phone, it did an update. When it powered back on, it had a warning on it about not finished downloading in red letters. I plugged it to the computer, and nothing. It couldn't be read by my computer nor adb. I basically had a brick.I called Best Buy, and they have sent out a new phone. This is the first time that customer service did work fairly quickly for me, which is why I gave it 2 stars. The phone when it worked, was great. But buying it not new, I guess whoever had it before me did something to it.My best advice is, if you buy it, buy it either new, or certified through them. They obviously don't check items returned to them as well as they say they do. And if they ship it to you, be weary of the packaging not being sufficient enough to protect your phone from damage.

Great phone
29 May 2023

Great phone. Got it open box on sale so it was a great deal. Great camera, fast performance. Ended up choosing it after my Samsung phones screen stopped working. Had enjoyed a previous OnePlus I had so decided to come back and have been happy so far. Nice to have an alternative when everyone else just has Galaxy and iphone. Can't beat the fast charger in the box, I don't have to charge overnight anymore, just charge it for 30 minutes before work every day and have a full charge. Would recommend because it has many of the same if not better specs than phones more expensive.

Okay Phone, Horrible Company

The OnePlus 10 Pro is a decent enough phone as far as hardware goes, though OnePlus seems to have settled, going against their motto of "Never settle". OnePlus is dead - the new HTC

Once upon a time, OnePlus sold great phones at a low cost, that were also easy to root. Now they're just a generic flagship brand making mediocre me-too phones, being far behind Apple, Samsung, and Google (and Xiaomi which isn't sold in the US).While the hardware is excellent, the software experience sucks. Rooting has become too dangerous due to the changes OnePlus made when they "merged" with Oppo, you can't get a clean state anymore without calling an Oppo/OP technician over the phone. This phone would have been great if LineageOS could run on it, which it can't unlike previous models.I returned my OP10Pro and bought a Pixel 7 (non-Pro). Even if my Pixel can't run LineageOS (yet) and has worse hardware, the Pixel software is excellent.

The specification is in line with the Pixel (which is stunning) and better than that model iPhone. I bought the base level 128gb - it was adequate previously. Ram matches the Pixel too and is adaptable if necessary. The charging is fantastic - fully charged in around 30 minutes (I don't let it empty -32?). The 65watt charger+cable v comes in the box, as does a good quality bumper case and a pre-fitted tempered glass screen protector.

Second OnePlus Phone I've Owned.

I took some time between my purchase and writing this review, and I am glad I did. This is my second OnePlus and I really like these phones, my first one was a OnePlus 6T McLaren edition, but initially this phone felt a little clunky and something was off with the performance-- after like three days of ownership I got my first over-the-air update for the software and wow, man, what a difference. I like this phone as much as I liked my 6T. I bought my wife the 12GB + 256GB version of this phone a couple months later and she loves it, too. If you're looking at Androids this performs with the other flagship phones at like half the price. My galaxy started having noticeable performance issues once OTA support stopped and the bloat of the Samsung version of Android started outpacing the aging hardware. The OnePlus version of Android (called Oxygen) is super lean and they minimize the proprietary bloatware. The camera is awesome and easy to use. Would totally recommend these phones over other Androids. Battery life is pretty good with these, too, I can just leave everything on including bluetooth all day and not worry about it.

This is a great phone. If you know Oneplus, then you know it's super fast, fluid with great customization! The display is superb and the cameras are great. Don't believe anyone that says these cameras aren't competitive, 'cause they most certainly are! The Emerald Green color has a "wow' factor for sure! Battery life is much better than the 9 Pro, though I have noticed it can get a little warm when under intense conditions. But, nothing to get worked up about. Takes about 35 mins to charge from 0% - 100%. As usual, that kicks the competition's *ss in the good ole USA. Also, I’m getting great 5G reception, with no trouble! Oxygen OS flows perfectly as well! For the most part, it’s still Oxygen fused with some added Color OS features. Options are a great thing!Best of all, it's not buggy AT ALL like some other recent flagships phones. This is a rock-solid phone choice, competitively priced with all the modern features you’d expect … add in the alert slider, and you’ve got another Oneplus win!Go for it, you absolutely won’t regret it!
