This phone is awesome. Although I pre-ordered it and still got it a bit late, I can still say with certainty that this is one of the smoothest phone experiences out there. I have yet to encounter a bothersome bug, however some apps may not be optimised very well for LTPO 2 or the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. I love the 5K mAh battery on this thing since it lasts me all day, and when I do need to juice up, I need only to plug it in for 20-30 minutes with the included 65W charger. The cameras are also amazing! Insanely sharp and accurate photos can be taken from this phone. Even the selfie camera performs better than so thought it would. I've owned this phone for a few weeks. It appealed to me because the features for the price paid cannot be beat. The camera seems to be as good as the camera on my Samsung S22 plus. It has better indoor reception for calls than my Samsung or my wife's Apple product. It's slippery and needs a case you can grip. It charges faster than anything I have ever seen. My only complaint was the software. Setting it up the way I wanted it set up was maddening. This would be my second OnePlus phone and is replacing my three year old OnePlus 7 Pro. While I miss the 100% full screen of the 7 Pro, this was a very suitable upgrade. The display is great and the edges aren't as curved. The hole punch front camera is minimally distracting. Of course it is several years newer and has a fresh battery so battery life and speed is better.The default camera app is better than the 7 Pro but overall OnePlus is still behind the big names (Apple, Google, and Samsung) on their computational photography for those special magic features. But the huge space on the back for the cameras concerns me so I installed a glass cover. This made getting a case harder as some push on the glass. You have to swipe it up to get rid of it.At the end of the day, I just want for the thing to work. At 900 bucks, it needs to be short of flawless. It is not. I am seriously done with taking any advice of any reviewer online. Their whole thing is to get free stuff. Why else would they have the fancy cameras, editing of a video, etc. No way it is just a hobby. It makes sense that if they overly bash any product, they will not get anything pretty much moving forward from that company. They are beholden to that company to a big degree. Way too many of them review these expensive items in a way that make the product feel like it is the best thing ever. YOU have to try the product for yourself, bottom line.Oh, and face unlock when you lift the phone, it is great and the fingerprint sensor is fast, but the lift to wake to face unlock on occasion does not always work. And no, I don't care to wait for updates. I did not get a 900 dollars phone to wait on it to get better over time. I need it to be incredible at that price from minute number one.

The display is great but not as great as many others in this price range. The UI merging with ColorOS, loses the feel of Oxygen OS completely. The software that built the OnePlus community and influenced the experience that once separated OnePlus from the rest. OnePlus has lost all direction.
