If I only had one word to describe it, the title is it. I was hesitant to purchase this because I didn’t want it to wind up as another impulse purchase appliance that was used once and then collected dust. I’ve developed a system for making the pizzas and having them prepped so I can turn 5 or 6 pies in the oven in about 25 mins. The first time may take a little longer as you stumble through, but have fun learning what works for you. It includes instructions and their YouTube has plenty of videos, but it’s almost intuitive. In addition, I had a question about an instruction in the manual and emailed CS; their response came a few hours later with a focus on ensuring everything on the oven was working properly. Kudos to that team, as there’s still plenty of CS out that always seem annoyed you’re asking for help.What I especially love is that I control what goes into and on the pies. I make my own sauce, I cook and prep my own toppings, and I can control the level of seasonings added. I prep all my dough once per month and then freeze/defrost as needed. The kids have even volunteered to jump in and help make dinner!The next step is to experiment with Sicilian pizza and then cooking more than pizza in there.You’ll need are a thin peel to pull and turn the pies. I’ve used both metal and wood and feel that the wooden peel I have is too bulky to pull a pie. I also purchased an infrared thermometer at harbor freight, but after doing this a few times you may be able to develop a feel for how hot the oven is so I’m not sure it was worth the money to buy one; I now only use it to check the temp after preheating. However, YMMV and if it makes you feel more dialed in with control, have at it.If you’re interested in taking control of your pizza and ingredients and turn a weekend dinner into a fun and creative family event (and ultimately saving some money on food over time) then I highly recommend investing in a product from Ooni. They have something to suit everyone’s need and at a competitive price point with other manufacturers. They also offer a 15% military discount, which is incredibly generous. Cheers!

We unfortunately could not be more disappointed with the Ooni Fyra. I researched and read several reviews before choosing to purchase this version as opposed to any of the propane options and while there were complaints most of the reviews were positive. We had friends who had the propane version and it worked flawlessly and produced amazing pizzas…I was wrong to assume that with a little practice and research the Fyra would offer the same ease and a great tasting and evenly cooked pizza.There is simply no ease to using this oven unless MAYBE you plan to only make 1-2 pizzas. If you want true ease and amazing, evenly cooked pizza (especially for a crowd) Ooni is still a great brand we just recommend not going the wood pellet route…we unfortunately are walking away incredibly disappointed and having spent a great deal of money on a product we have given up using after only 2 years.

Homemade Pizza but make it Boujee!

I gifted the oven, hence my review is really based on the ordering of vs the full on making experience.I got the Ooni 12” using wood pellets, including a well equipped accessory pack.We normally make our own sourdough but as this was a gift, we didn’t have any so opted to get the Ooni packet mix from Waitrose.This dough itself wasn’t bad, but I’d advise to make your own.Set-up was pretty easy, it’s a bit plug and play.I would suggested having a tool in order to measure the oven temp but I would mostly recommend a pizza turning peel.This is what we struggled with most when making pizza. I love my Fyra 12! It's my first pizza oven and I'm using it quite frequently since it's use to use and the pizzas out of it look and taste amazing! Some reviews I read were recommending gas due to the facility to control the temperature, but pellets are easier than wood to manage and the taste is amazing, you can't get that with gas! On my BBQ grill, I changed from gas to charcoal and then pellets and I'm never going back, so I kind of new the experience already - although the grill needs power and the oven doesn't (however requires more manual control), so on the pizza oven I went straight to pellets. Zero regrets, the Fyra 12 is wonderful! It's a small oven (like any 12 inches pizza oven), what can be great if you have limited space and normally bakes your pizza ... MoreI love my Fyra 12! It's a small oven (like any 12 inches pizza oven), what can be great if you have limited space and normally bakes your pizza for a small number of people (4 in my family), but for a large gather you might have to wait 10 minutes or so between every couple of pizzas, to allow the oven to reheat. Other than for pizzas, I used my Fyra 22 for steaks once (using the Ooni cast iron skillet) and it works, although I prefer the BBQ grill, with the advantage of using less pellets than the grill (since my one is large) and not requiring power (it was very convenient during a power outage we just had). I also prepared salmon on it (with pesto butter) - just using a disposable aluminum pan - and that turns out so good! Probably worth it to have the Fyra 12 just for that if you're a fan of Salmon or other high temperature baked fishes. The only thing that might be an issue is that in case you're using the oven for several pizzas - more than six - the tray were the pellets burn might become full of ashes turning access for new pellets (that are inserted from the top) to the fire a little difficult. I notice that depends a lot of the pellet you use (but the great news is that you can use different types). In my case, I avoid this issue by beating the back of the tray (without removing it from the oven) with a piece of wood (be gentle to not bend the tray!) for the ashes to settle, what normally solves the problem. Overall, I highly recommend the Fyra 12! It's affordable, beautiful, very sturdy and reliable, simple to use, never run out of gas (I find much easier and safe to have a stock of pellets at home, than a stock of gas bottles), and the best: it makes delicious pizzas and can be used for other foods too (I highly recommend for Salmon!). It's the only pizza oven I have, but I really don't see the need for trying or having a different one!

It definitely takes a lot of getting used to and playing around with make a good pizza. (I've yet to make a GREAT pizza.) I can't seem to get the oven even up to 800 degrees, let alone the 900+ they claim it can get to. I bought the gas burner for this but have yet to try it because I want to perfect the wood burning pizza so we can use this at our beach club (that only allows coal/wood grills). I am a bit disappointed that Ooni then came out with a larger wood burn try just a couple of weeks after I purchased it, obviously recognizing that there is fault with their design that keeps it from getting as hot as they claim. But if you want this larger burn tray, you have to purchase it for $30. I bought the gas burner for this but have yet to try it because I want to perfect the wood burning pizza so we can use this at our beach club (that only allows coal/wood grills). I am a bit disappointed that Ooni then came out with a larger wood burn try just a couple of weeks after I purchased it, obviously recognizing that there is fault with their design that keeps it from getting as hot as they claim. But if you want this larger burn tray, you have to purchase it for $30. I think that is not really fair.Aside from the grill not getting hot enough, one of the other issues I have is with the launching of the pizza. I have used a bunch of flour but that launch of the first pizza into the oven is always the trickiest and often makes a mess in the oven. I need to try the perforated peel and see if that makes a different. If I had to do it again, I would also buy the 16 inch grill, as the 12 is sort of small.I was also bummed that only a few months after this, Ooni came out with a new version of the karu 12 with the glass door that doesn't come off and a thermometer on the side, two features I really think would help change my mind for this review to at least 4 stars, perhaps even 5. I purchased the thermometer for the oven, but I would've liked to have one on the oven too.

My Oven Smokes Much Too Much!

I remain extremely disappointed with my Ooni Fyra 12 Wood Pellet Pizza Oven. I have followed all directions to the letter yet the oven smokes so much that I am unable to cook a pizza in it! In addition, the oven is now coated in soot! This soot gets on everything and smears over everything when I try to clean it up. To summarize- my Ooni Fyra 12 Oven is a mess and I would like to return it.Let me emphasize- I have only used wood pellets purchased online from Ooni, and I keep these pellets inside my home within the plastic bag that they came in, to avoid any exposure to moisture.Also, I have only used Ooni brand Premium Natural Firestarters, also purchased online from Ooni. I have kept the oven door on, and I have kept the chimney damper full open with the Chimney cap off, I have only attempted to ignite my Oven and cook with it on days of pleasant weather, which is not so easy to manage in Upstate New York in late December, when we usually have wet and windy weather.I have been very careful to avoid filling the Pellet hopper with too many pellets too soon. I add only a half cup of pellets at a time, but smoking begins almost immediately after I add a 2nd half cup of pellets, and it can become very dense smoke, so quickly, that I must keep all my doors and windows in my home closed. The smoke that pours out of the Pellet hopper often prevents me from being able to top off the pellets in the hopper.I must do a thorough change of clothes after igniting the Oven, since I stink of smoke. It has not been a pleasant experience!Since I received my Oven I have been able to cook in it only 10 times. Please contact me if you have any questions. Thank you.

I did a fair bit of research before I bought the Ooni Fyra. Initially I was going for the new Karu 12G, with its new glass door and thermometer built in, and the ability to have multi-fuel options. However, it had a long lead time and I didn’t want to miss the summer. Anyway after another batch of research I saw someone in a blog or vlog suggest that for purely wood fired pizza the best bet was the Fyra, in that it was the easiest to feed with it’s wood pellet hopper. I watched a few videos of the other models from Ooni & other brands and thought the wood feeding aspect looked a bit finicky. That, and the fact Ooni had a flash sale on the Fyra swung it. Takes about 10 mins to reach temperature, and I fill the hopper up to just over2 halfway which does 2-3 pizzas easily. I think the only thing I’d change on this model would be the addition of a glass door, being able to see the pizza cooking would be handy, as the little eye hole is useless, and seeing the flame from an aesthetic perspective would be sweet, that said you get used to the amount of time needed, so it’s more a first world problem. On the whole I’ve been super impressed.
