YES I AGREE. I tried different brands of color polish with the OPI Topcoat (essie, orly, la girl, China Glaze, popparazzi, OPI) and it bubbles even after a half hour of waiting for the first layer to dry! The bubbles show up after 5-10 minutes after application. And my nails are buffed and cleaned thoroughly. I was so surprised that OPI would sell such a thing. To be honest I bought the OPI topcoat along with two other OPI polishes together to try the OPI brand for the first time. Also, to my dismay, the OPI polishes that I bought recently dont apply smoothly and even gets slightly chunky as I slightly overlap in thin coats as I try to apply polish to my whole nail. I searched up "Why does OPI top coat suck" to see if anybody shared the same sentiment. Now I am here ... MoreYES I AGREE. The colors are just so beautiful, opaque and last a very long time. I always have the problem that with other nail polishes the varnish flakes off very quickly. This is not the case with OPI. The application is very easy thanks to the beautiful brush. It has the typical nail poliRead more about review stating Perfect redsh smell, but it also dissipates very quickly. The nail polish doesn't take long to dry. For me, one layer is completely sufficient, it is so opaque. I think that's very good, especially when things have to go quickly. This is one of my absolute favorite OPI shades. Perfect for any season: spring, summer, fall or winter (I wore this over the Christmas period). No shimmer in here, no glitter and plenty of staying power. I also don't require a top coat as it's very glossy on its own. 2 coats of this and I'm good to go. Love the large brush which makes for easy application, however the only thing to be aware of is that under certain artificial lighting (i.e my office workplace) it can morph into an orange-pink shade, which for me is far from a problem as A) I find it looks equally good like that, in its own unique way, and B) keeps my office co-workers guessing - when they catch me outside on my lunch break... "How did she have one shade on inside and then stepped out in another!?"

First, let me clarify, that my nails in the product photo that corresponds with this review are professionally done gel x nails so please do not use them as any type of reference point. On to this basecoat/topcoat combo. I don’t know if it’s even truly fair to rate it average because to a certain extent, you’re definitely getting what you pay for. If you’re looking to skip steps and use a two in one (vs. Individual base coat topcoat) you probably have to expect slightly lower performance. After all, does anyone really like two in one shampoo? Is a Spork ever as good as a fork or a spoon individually? Anyway, this will protect your nails somewhat from color, and it will also somewhat seal That color in as a topcoat. It does dry pretty quickly, and it is certainly ... MoreFirst, let me clarify, that my nails in the product photo that corresponds with this review are professionally done gel x nails so please do not use them as any type of reference point. I really like OPI Start To Finish. It’s a great all in one product, and it’s high quality. In fact, all products I’ve ever used from OPI have been high quality. OPI Start To Finish is a base coat, top coat and nail strengthener. I apply a coat before applying my nail polish and allow to fully dry. It actually dries pretty quickly. Then I apply my nail polish as usual, followed by a coat of Start To Finish when it is fully dry. It doesn’t strip any colour from my nail polish and leaves my nails with a lovely glossy finish. I do find that my nail polish lasts longer when I use this. I really like this product, and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a quality all in one product.
After a full manicure of OPI base coat, nail polish and this top coat it looked good. However, the following day I applied Boots Soltan Sun Screen to my arms as was going in the sun. To my horror the Boots Soltan ate into the OPI top coat making it soft and sticky. Immediately washed hands but it was too late. The gloss surface was all dull, pitted and sticky. Had to remove the whole manicure. NOT GOOD. This is an expensive product and should perform better. I bought the 3 OPI products together as the pack so almost ÂŁ40 spent. Plus a bit worrying what the Boots Soltan did to a nail polish!
I got this less than 6 months ago for Christmas and after only using it a few times to paint my nails it doesn't work anymore the formula in it is not as smooth as before and I no longer have black nail polish for when I want to paint my nails black or to do details in black on my nails. Some of the other OPI nail polishes I have are experiencing the same issue. I got the mini OPI collection and majority of these polishes do not work after only using them maybe 5 times total since having them. I've had other nail polishes work just fine that I've had for over a year. The price of OPI compared some others are a little pricey and for what? For it to stop working after a few uses? I would only recommend if you are okay with having to find a new black nail polish less ... MoreI got this less than 6 months ago for Christmas and after only using it a few times to paint my nails it doesn't work anymore the formula in it is not as smooth as before and I no longer have black nail polish for when I want to paint my nails black or to do details in black on my nails. I would only recommend if you are okay with having to find a new black nail polish less than a month later because this black color is beautiful when it works. I still have not found a black nail polish that will work after a few uses and that I genuinely love. I love this color but I cannot recommend anyone buy this due to the product no longer being worth the money. And before anyone says it yes I store all my nail polishes in the correct conditions and places and none of my non OPI nail polishes have had this issue.
I purchased this in a pinch because WalMart doesn’t sell the brand I’ve used for 10 years, SECHE VITE. I have yet to find an adequate dry time for this product. I applied as instructed. Let dry for thirty minutes prior to wearing socks and shoes. My socks were enmeshed with my nail polish when I took them off. I reapplied base coat, color, and OPI’s top coat. Have been walking around my home for over and hour with no contact to enamel. I sat down and brushed my toe against a pillow. The contact once again resulted in blemished polish.SECHE VITE top coat has NEVER done this in my 10 years of using it. OPI’s top coat is going in my garbage.
Arrived quickly and well packaged. This is a nice full-coverage cream color with a tiny hint of pink and a blue undertone, which is ideal if you have olive-colored or hispanic toned coloring. I have dark scars under one of my fingernails from hand surgery, and usually have to wear dark colored nail polish to hide the marks. Two coats of this color hides the scarring. This is one of the few light-colored nail polishes that looks nice on my olive-colored skin. I constantly get compliments on this polish. I can't believe OPI discontinued this color. OPI, please consider bringing back the Movie Buff color.
I never leave reviews, but I am so disappointed in this top coat. I wish I could get my money back for it. I have tried suggestions to get it to work, but nothing is helping. It's extremely thin and, no matter how much I let my nails dry, they always end up being not at all glossy and having a bizarre semi-matte smudgy effect that ruins my manicure. I've tried it so many times and have never gotten decent results; I've tried to work with it but no solutions have worked. My cheaper top coats are a million times better, so it's really disappointing that OPI (a more expensive and respected drugstore brand) is charging so much for a top coat that is AWFUL. The Essie quick dry topcoat and Holo Taco top coats have worked much better for me personally. I think Orly and ... MoreI never leave reviews, but I am so disappointed in this top coat. The Essie quick dry topcoat and Holo Taco top coats have worked much better for me personally. I think Orly and other brands are used by nail salons. I don't want other people to waste your money like I did, so please go with a different and/or more affordable option. :) I was shocked, and still am, that a brand like OPI has a staple product that is this bad. I love all of their other nail polish, so it's really shocking that their top coat is so runny/thin and ineffective. It isn't sealing in anything and definitely is not glossy, it totally smudges up the top layer of your manicure and ruins the color (it's cloudy and not see through like a top coat should be). I included a photo to try to show what I mean by the cloudy smudging. I waited ages for it to dry and even used a dryer, and it still ended up being smudged after FULLY DRYING. Again, I have thoroughly tried to get this to work for months and it always loses it's glossiness quickly and ruins my manicure. I have tried everything and am saddened that nothing has helped and will have to get a new top coat from a different brand. It is NOT worth the price tag, please try a different top coat. I would return this asap if I still had the receipt info; as a broke college student, avoid making the same mistake and wasting your money. There are cheaper options that are fantastic! Good luck! :) I never leave reviews so this is quite long because I was appalled that this is still being sold, but hopefully my personal experience helps others as I have tried extensively to get this top coat to work.
