Blade length 8.5 cm Martensitic stainless steel The stainless steel in OPINEL blades is a high-grade material, offering both strong resistance to corrosion and mechanical wear. With a hardness of 55-57 HRC and European origin, this steel is optimized for durability and sharpness, making it ideal for regular use. It requires minimal maintenance in ordinary conditions, but may be affected by prolonged exposure to aggressive environments like acid or salt water. Yatagan blade The Opinel blade has taken on a classic Yatagan shape, inspired by the traditional Turkish saber known as the toe up. Its unique convex profile provides both strength and ease of regrinding. Handle Beech, from France, is the primary material used for crafting the handles of Opinel knives. Renowned for its strength, longevity, and workability, our beech wood boasts a uniform appearance ranging from pale yellow to rosy pink, with scattered dark streaks. Safety ring The Virobloc safety ring, designed by Marcel Opinel in 1955, is a standard feature on all N° 06 folding knives. Made of stainless steel, it consists of two parts - one fixed and one sliding. This design not only locks the blade in the open position for safety during use, but also allows for the blade to be securely locked in the closed position for safe transport.
