I started a fitness journey as I wanted to make a change in my daily habits and lifestyle. When I was at least a year into it I started to realise no matter the work or rest and food I ate I was having some slower progressions. So I did some research and found that it could be the protein intake that needed to increase not alot but just a small amount. I thought how can I eat more when I'm full so I thought what about protein shakes? Maybe that would help. So I did research and out of many protein wheys Optimum nutrition seemed ideal. Not only cost wise but it said it was digestive friendly and that seemed ideal for me as I have sensitive stomach. So I put the order in and over a month I hadn't have and problems besides the new gains :).

This is the only protein powder I've tried, as Optimum Nutrition was highly recommended to me as the "gold standard in protein powders" by several weightlifting enthusiast friends of mine. Luckily, the first flavor I tried, Chocolate Malt, ended up being amazingly delicious to me, so I never had to buy and try any others -- though they have so many different flavors, I'd like to try some of the ones that sound good, such as the coffee, the vanilla, or the mint chocolate flavors. Anyway, I use whole milk and drop a spoonful of this whey powder in a Blender Bottle, shake the crap out of it, and enjoy it after lifting. This powder blends REALLY well *with a Blender Bottle*, and I rarely get clumps/bubbles of dry powder. I tried using a spoon and stirring once, and got tons of clumps. This powder is packed full of protein, as it contains a form of whey that packs more protein per volume when compared to regular whey which some protein powders use, which means you have to use more of those powders to get the same amount of protein as you would with Optimum Nutrition's. This product also contains a bunch of the BCAA (branched chain amino acids) that the human body requires after exercise in order to repair/build muscle. The only thing this powder lacks is ingredients for muscle recovery (chiefly, my favorite, L-Glutamine), things regularly found in nighttime/overnight muscle recovery/repair formulas. This product doesn't need it, but it would round it out as the perfect after-workout protein powder if it had L-Glutamine in it (but that would be unnecessary if you lift/drink these in the mornings). Instead, I just add a spoon of pure L-Glutamine powder to my Optimum Nutrition shakes and I'm good to go! Anyway, obviously, I really, really highly recommend this brand, this product by them, and this flavor of whey protein powder for all your "gain" needs -- Get those gains!!! 🏋🏻‍♀️

Drinking protein shakes is part of my daily routine. I have them in between meals and also post workout. The ingredients are the most important thing I am looking for when selecting protein powder. The next most important thing is taste, let’s face it, if it tastes terrible, you aren’tgoing to want to drink it. This powder is gluten free, packed with 30.4 grams of protein in 1 scoop, only 3 carbs and 120 calories! It mixes up smoothly with water or milk (I prefer milk) and has a thick, luscious consistency. I always look forward to drinking it! Definitely recommended!

Gold Standard for a reason!
5 April 2023

Gold Standard Whey is the most popular protein supplement for a reason. The standard/quality of the product is really good and it's always consistent. (it's free of weird performance enhancers and their quality control is tight! It's "banned substance tested") It has 24 grams of protein per scoop and 5.5g BCAAs (branch chain amino acids) to boost muscle recovery.I got it in "Rich Double Chocolate" which I thought tasted like mild cocoa powder or like a malted milk shake. It was pretty tasty! One caveat with this stuff (and some other whey isolate protein powders) is that it does have a kind of "milky" aftertaste that is slightly bitter. If you eat a lot of dairy and like milk, this won't bother you at all. I thought this flavor worked well in as a drink (per the instructions on the package) but it was even better made into ice-cream! I found that made it taste way better (adding ice to your drink and making it a smoothy would also work)This protein powder can be added into pudding and mixed into overnight oats too and was yummy that way as well. The sweetening agent isn't too strong or off-putting.If you're looking for a well-known brand at a pretty good value, this one is for you.

Best protein on the market. For everyone saying the formula has changed... as far as the Double Rich Chocolate I've been getting for YEARS, there is no change as of a week ago (Jan-2018). No Sucralose. Just avoid flavors like Cake Batter, Ice Cream and BananaI ordered the double rich chocolate (DBC), thanks to reviews indicating it did not use sucralose (and it does not as of 06/12/18).I've never used ON before, I do not know if it "used to" taste better. As of 06/12/18 the DBC flavor tastes roughly like burnt brownie flavored cardboard. Thing is, I understand without a SUPER sweetener, it can be difficult to achieve flavor, but be forewarned, it is AWFUL tasting. Consistency remains almost the same as whatever liquid you have mixed it into (adds no extra thickness). I tried both water and milk.On the positive front, it is jam packed with goodies with every scoop. It mixes extremely well (I use milk mainly) and when mixed with other powders, it continued to mix well (I add extra probiotics and stuff for my joints).I let it sit for a few hours on the counter, everything settled and needed a slight jostle, but (aside from being warm) mixed right back up and tasted exactly the same with the same consistency, which is great as I have had powders that turn to sludge if you let it sit for too long. For the price @5lbs and 30g scoops, you can't beat it. There are better tasting powders and better powders overall, but you can expect to pay $50-$60 for 2lb for those, I find this powder to be an excellent middle ground if you can stomach it, especially with the prevalence of sucralose finding its way everywhere. For those not in the know, please Google sucralose, it won't bother everyone, but if you're like me, it did affect my digestive system negatively and since removing it from my diet I have been doing much better.

Good protein powder but lacks flavor.
20 March 2023

The Gold Standard Whey Protein Powder Double Rich Chocolate is a decent protein powder. It blends up nicely using a blender bottle. It mixes well with milk, water, even almond milk. My only problem is the chocolate flavor. Its just not that good on its own. Its supposed to be rich double chocolate and it doesn't taste like it. I am usually a vanilla guy but I got this flavor to change it up and try something different. Overall its a decent protein powder I think It could just taste better.

Great Source of Protein
5 April 2023

Optimum Nutrition developed a top-notch protein powder with their Gold Standard 100% Whey drink mix. The double rich chocolate flavor is pleasant tasting. I've mixed the powder with both milk and water and enjoy the chocolate flavor with either. The powder has been effective at helping me recover after a tough workout. There's nothing tricky about using this powder. A 30 gram scoop is included and one scoop does the trick for a normal-sized drink container. The powder dissolves quickly and evenly. I've felt so good since using this powder. Muscle soreness has lessened while stamina has increased. I'm able to push myself a little harder and a little longer. A really effective source of protein. Optimum Nutrition gets two thumbs up from me.

Whey protein has outdone them selfs with there double chocolate protein powder. I absolutely love the taste of this stuff. And another great thing about whey protein powder is you can use it in many different ways. You can add it to different recipes not only as a shake. This product definitely dose the job. Sense i have been using it i noticed i have alot more energy. It also comes with measuring cup so you always have perfect amount for that great taste. If your looking for a great way to get extra protein. I would definitely recommend whey protein double chocolate. It's the best tasting powder i have tried yet. And easy to use and it definitely works great.

Seed Oils, Soy and "Natural" Flavors...I'll pass
19 April 2023

The quality of this product is terrible. Protein powder is marketed towards consumers who are "health conscious" but given the quality of the ingredients it really misses the mark. Not only is the protein not from grass fed cattle it also contains sunflower or soy lecithin and "natural" flavors. Natural flavors is the food industry's dirty little secret. Whenever you see that on a label...put it down. I will not buy this again and would not recommend this for anyone. There's several other options on the market with much cleaner ingredients that are comparable in price. I will pass on this one!

This is the Gold Standard
6 April 2023

I absolutely love ON Gold Standard 100% whey.It mixes perfectly, tastes amazing and I have experienced 0 bloat or digestion issues. I am seeing the results when combined with a proper diet and training program.I first bought 'Choc Hazelnut' flavour and I enjoyed it but have since found 'Vanilla Ice Cream' flavour and wow, if you love soft serve it tastes just like that. Absolutely awesome. So many flavours to choose from and ON do a great job on all according to my friends and family. All around this is a top quality product and I can't recommend it enough.
