Felt compelled to write a review after reading some of the negative reviews. For all the people who have "leaking" at the bibb or where the hoses attach - try some teflon tape on the male threads and a little bit of pipe dope on the female threads and you will have NO LEAKING all summer. I bought two of these timers and run four different watering zones in my front and back yards. I took the time to attach the hoses properly and have zero leaking - I was careful not to over tighten on the plastic threads or torque the bibb by pulling on the hose and have had no problems whatsoever, they turn on and off perfectly as programmed. Batter lasted all summer. I'd wager that 95% of the negative reviews are because YOU'RE DOING IT WRONG, or not taking care of the product. ... I purchased the 3-port and 2-port units 6 years ago. I've used them every season, from about March to November, then store them in my garage, removing the batteries. I simply put batteries back in, connect them up and they are good to go again. They are on their 7th season now and still not a leak anywhere. When it's off, it's off, no drips. I'm amazed the display works perfect, not a missing pixel or distortion, and the unit works as it did when new, perfectly. I believe the internals have some rubber component, but they must be of great quality to last this long. I'm very impressed! I highly recommend this 3 port unit or the similar looking 2 port. It's about time they went back to simplicity in programming. This basic design had been around for a long time, then they changed it to something so ridiciously complicated it was impossible to use. Back to the basics ! Thank you. And with 3 outlets. Wow. Perfect for our garden.

It's about time they went back to simplicity in programming. This basic design had been around for a long time, then they changed it to something so ridiciously complicated it was impossible to use. Back to the basics ! Thank you. And with 3 outlets. Wow. Perfect for our garden.
I have been using Orbit faucet timers for about seven years now. At first I had a lot of problems, but the past five years, (I believe Orbit re-engineered them) they have been wonderful. They are the easiest to program... just turn a dial. If I had any suggestion for the Orbit company, it would be that they make one that has four ports. I know they make a different model with a slide in mechanism that has four ports but I absolutely hate that one. The dial model is so much better!!!!! ONE more comment. Be sure to bring in your timers every winter or cover them. They will freeze and crack.
Finally!!! A working Hose Timer backed by a long warranty (6 years!), from a company who will take care of you if you have a problem! I have gone through a number of Hose Timers in the past from OTHER companies, whose timers were not only garbage, but companies who were the customer's worst nightmare when it came to backing their warranty/product infested with design flaws. These companies would either flat-out refuse to acknowledge their design flaws and refuse to help you in any way, or make you jump through a thousand hoops, then tell you to send in their defective unit, then make you wait six weeks before shipping out a new unit while your yard and landscape lay dying. NOT Orbit! They take care of you right away, the right way, without all the hassle, the way a ... MoreFinally!!! I just purchased this one two weeks ago for my front yard, and it is working great! Just a word of advice, watch that you make sure you set which station you want to change any setting on (look for the little station number ( 1 or 2# on the display as you change each setting). I thought my timer wasn't working, then discovered I had inadvertently changed settings for station #1 when I thought I had changed only the settings on station #2. Once I figured that out, I programmed it correctly and my unit has worked great ever since. And I love the metal female connector on top, it made it a lot easier to screw on to the hose bibb than the plastic female connectors found on other models #those I would spend five minutes trying to screw on and had a hard time getting the threads to mate correctly, but not the metal one....good design Orbit).
This particular timer is glitchy when it comes to programming it in the different areas/zones. It keeps defaulting me to area 1 and forces me to start setting it all over again. This is a pain if it's really hot outside and I want to manually add in more time than I already have programmed in. What I do like is the option of having 3 zones. Most other timers offer either 2 or 4.
I'm using the ORBIT control head to water some grass plugs and two grass seed beds . This ORBIT unit saves me a lot of time and work with the timer built in. I have two of these control heads. It's even the right color healthy grass green. Great product!
This is the tenth Orbit timer I have used on a regular basis and have never had a failure. It is super easy to program and and I am pleased with how long the batteries last. I do remove the batteries after the season and s protect them from freezing in the offseason.

However, there are single points of failure for two outlet applications. The solenoid valves do fail. I have a single valve model that I bought last season for which the valve no longer works. There is no error message on the LCD display to alert you. There is a multi-year warranty, but I may decide returning it is not worth the shipping cost and trouble and wait. When you enter settings for two applications, remember to use the station button to switch between stations for EACH dial position, except Auto, Off, and Set clock. The batteries last more than 1 season, but I don't leave the batteries installed over the winter. Also remember when setting the start and duration times for two applications that the outlets share the same faucet outlet. The rain delay and manual features are very useful. To provide full water pressure for each application, don't overlap the operating times. Also, don't forget to check the device from time to time to ensure it is still delivering the water. It won't text you if it had a problem...at least not this model this year.
This is my second one. I am very happy with the first that I use in the front yard %26 some of the sides. Now I will use this one on the back yard. This one is identical to my first one. Easy to program. Easy to use.
