Orient Men's Kamasu Stainless Steel Japanese-Automatic Diving Watch
Only after diving into the design and specifications of the Kamasu will it be clear as to why it stands alone as a collection. “Kamasu” is the Japanese word for Barracuda, a fitting name for a watch where the triangular hour marker and arrow hands resemble teeth. The design of the bezel is a little different as well—a dotted pattern in between bold numerals. The watch also sports a day and date complication similarly to the Orient divers that came before it. The case measures at 41.8mm across and 46.8mm lug to lug. The Kamasu comes equipped with a solid, oyster-style bracelet (although the end links are hollow). Up front it has been upgraded with a flat sapphire crystal and under the hood you’ll find our F6922 mechanical movement that is self-winding, hand-windable and hacking.

I like the Orient Kamasu so much that I bought a second one! I originally purchased the superb burgundy dial when it came out in early 2019 ( thanks to a great review from Relative Time channel on YouTube ) but was very interested in the green dial version as well (yes, partly due to another review: this one from The Slender Wrist on YouTube). This dial is very lovely and different than it's burgundy counterpart but only in coloring (they both have the same great specs)! The sunburst effect is equally as striking on both watches: while the red one might be more prominent or needs less light to shine, the green one is very deep, almost like dark jade or emerald color in turquoise tone. I highly recommend!

Ive had my watch now since mid 2020 and Im lost for words. This is my first Orient Watch and definitely wont be my last. I was recently in Cancun for 3 weeks and I wore this watch everyday never came off my wrist such a beautiful piece pictures don't do justice. I'm 5' 11" 165 lbs and this fits perfectly easily adjustable and even has micro adjustments. In some conditions it looks jet black in others you get a beautiful blueish tone and in direct sunlight a gorgeous green color. While in Cancun I was doing excursion after excursion deep water diving and snorkeling and I couldn't take my eyes off this piece so crazy how its less than $300. This is a beautiful watch, but the image on LIW's website, which was supplied by Orient, isn't accurate as to color. The photo shows a teal watch. In person, the watch is an extremely dark teal/turquoise, which indoors looks almost black; even in sunlight, the color is hard to distinguish. The bezel is likewise dark, even darker than the dial. That said, I'm still keeping this watch because it's that attractive. Another issue with these models that I've read about online is that some of the units have a wobbly crown in the time-setting position, and a friend of mine actually encountered this quality-control problem. So just a word to the wise: Make sure the crown isn't wobbling before you take off the protective plastic tape or size the watch.

I absolutely love this watch. It is way better than I expected. Unbelievable value for the money. I put it on the timegrapher and it performs like a much more expensive watch! Good amplitude, zero beat error, and within a couple seconds a day from perfect time. The dial is beautiful deep green, the lume is outstanding. Honestly, I don't know how they can sell a watch this good for so little money. Am I gushing, because I really love this watch. I had to add a link to fit my huge 8.5 inch wrist. I sent an email, and they replied very quickly. Extra links were not expensive and they shipped them out to me fast. Now it fits perfectly and I'm wearing it right now. This is my first Orient Kamasu, and probably won't be my last. Yes it's really that good.
This was my first Orient Automatic watch that I purchased and I think it was a great starter watch. The dial is a beautiful teal green, and I dig the darker green on the dial, very unique. It is a very understated green, and almost looks black in darker lighting. While I love the look of the watch, I ended up purchasing another bracelet for the watch due to the hollow end links making clinking noises every time I moved my wrist sharply. The rest of the stock bracelet was high quality, but it's something to note. Also, my watch tends to run about +18 seconds per day, which while this is well within the specifications of the Orient movement was a bit disappointing.
I bought this watch a few years ago and I really like the fact that it looks black until light hits it and then the deep green comes out. The day Date feature is great for a Senior like me and this watch keeps great time. I also had a Rolex Oyster date and a couple of Omega watches and one day I realized that the Orient Kamasu was a better watch all around that the expensive brands I spent my life wanting for my bucket list. When I realized it was just a lifetime of advertising/brainwashing I sold them all and have not taken the Kamasu off my wrist since.
This kamasu is just like a seiko sports 5 but better. I just bought a second one! It has a less prominent/thinner bezel than the seiko 5 making it much nicer to wear on the wrist while somehow looking much more impressive. This can make it harder to turn but unless you are actually diving why are you turning the bezel? The red version and black/gold versions are stunning. You trade the skeleton/see through back of the seiko 5 but for around the same price you get sapphire crystal and a screw down crown (huge upgrades). I also personally like the bracelet better even though they are very similar. The only downside is that there can be some QC issues. My first one came with a misaligned bezel but Marc from island watches sorted my problem out and sent me out a new ... MoreThis kamasu is just like a seiko sports 5 but better. I can't recommend this watch or this company enough.
Very happy with my purchase. The dial appears almost black in the lighting I'm in most lf the time, but when the angle is just right, you'll get that red sunburst effect. It has english and spanish days of the week. Sunday/Domingo uses red font. The other days use black. The glow is very strong in the dark. It's even visible under lighting.Mine seems to run a little faster than I'd like. I'll keep an eye on it.The product pictures show everything else pretty well. The lume pic is for a different watch ATW.I recommend checking out the video reviews. And i definitely recommend this watch. Gave a green one as a gift to somebody and they love it. The style is timeless.
I never enjoyed any watch as much as this one watch. The lume is fantastic! The time is only 5 seconds a day fast. The dial and design is perfect. I love the red tip on the second hand. The length of the hour and minute hands are excellent. The fact that a watch at this price point has a sapphire crystal is marvelous. The day/date window is clear and does not interfere with the flow of the dial. I am 69 years old and own 20 watches; this Kamasu is officially my favorite! Let us not forget this is a TRUE divers watch! The creators of this watch deserve a bonus!
I have a small collection of Seiko 5s that I used to cycle through throughout the week, but the Kamasu has pretty much replaced all of them as my everyday watch since I got it several months ago. Easily the nicest dive watch I've come across at this price range. The movement is great -- mine gains 2 or 3 seconds per day, which is virtually nothing. (I'm sure this varies from watch to watch, but I guess I got lucky.) I've banged it up plenty and still can't see any scratches or scuffs. The bracelet is on the cheaper side, but way better than you'd see on similarly-priced Seikos. And then the color is the real deal-maker for me. Half the time the dial and bezel appear black, then in the right light you'll see this subtle but very attractive emerald green start to come ...
