I'm very disappointed that the old Tundra recipe which I have been originally buying it from Canada for years since I live in the Pacific Northwest. It's always had Boer Goat, Wild Boar,Vension,Vension, Artic Char, Free range Duck & Mutton. Now the new recipe has less ingredients than the older recipe with more fish. My Norwegian Forest cat has been eating less of the the new recipe. I didn't know about the new recipe when I had bought it from the local pet store. Also, the pet store wasn't notified about the change. I gave them one of my old bags to show them the difference. What if my cat had bad allergic reaction to the new recipe? She did have bladder problems. I have been a loyal customer to Orijen for many years thrughout the lifetime of my dogs & cats.I ... All three of my cats have been eating Orijen for years. We specifically chose Tundra for its variety of “wild” game meats. None of them have ever had any issues. We purchased a new bag of Tundra a month or so ago and after a few weeks it became clear that none of our cats wanted to eat it anymore and their poops were terrible. One of our cats who is slightly more sensitive also developed some skin problems almost immediately. We checked the new bag and realized that the ingredients were completely different than bags we had purchased previously. The “wild” game meats have been replaced with fish. What is the point of that when they already make a formula called Six Fish? From what I’ve looked into I haven’t seen them announce anywhere that the formula has changed ... Using cheaper ingredient but making the customer pay the same price is disheartening, but it’s even worse knowing it’s actually made my cats ill.

Want to get her on wet food too ultimately, but one step at a time, she refuses anything new, like many kitties!)Meantime, resident kitty only gets wet food as he is FIC, and has allergies requiring novel protein-only foods--he cries for this Tundra dry food, even when I feed other kitty in a separate room through closed doors, and even though he likes his premium wet food. My cat is a stupidly picky eater and this is his favorite food by far! It has 40% crude protein which is very rare to find at a commercial pet supply store, but we will drive to get it for him if we must. He’s happy, healthy, active, and his coat is gorgeous. He will eat some other Orijen foods but Tundra is his fav!
As others have said, the ingredients have changed. I bought this initially to try on my cat who has had chronic gastrointestinal allergies. I had tried many diets with no success. I originally decided to try this bc of the minimal poultry ingredients. Much to my relief, it made my cats symptoms a lot better. Without going into detail, trust me when I say they were extreme. She’s been on tundra for the past year and just started her first (and last) bag of it. Her allergies have steadily returned which I can only equate to the new formula. steadily returning I believe bc of the change of formula. I’m readily upset about the whole thing and feel bad that my cat, after being in relief is now once again in discomfort. Now I’m on the hunt again for a new food. I’ve ... I have been buying a high quality dry cat food for my cats, along with the wet food packets of the same brand. I thought it was the highest quality cat food I’d ever bought, and my cats loved it and were healthy. But our usual brand was becoming hard to get and finally I could find it nowhere. So I remembered the cat food a friend feeds her cats, which, when her cat stayed with us during a vacation, my cats seemed to love eating…and seeing the cursive script and the design of the bag, I ordered the Orijin thinking it was that brand. It arrived and when comparing it with my usual brand it seemed a much darker color and when I compared the ingredients side by side I could see that the Orijin brand was extremely high quality. It’s expensive, but my cats do notice the difference and it’s easier to find than our usual brand.
This product is the only one that I have found that has real food in it. The rest have "meal" instead of actual meat. Her fur is beautiful. She even gets compliments. She used to be feral so she is very sensitive to picking up on smells and tastes. She will not eat the Six Fish which does have some meal in it. Not sure if this is due to the meal or she doesn't like the flavor. She loves Orijen Red and really really likes the Orijen Cat and Kitten. Both have 90% premium animal ingredients which is why I chose them. Her favorite flavors tend to be toward the red meat (beef). She is also a fan of Tuna and Tilapia and some things salmon but not too much; she is a little picky with fish just to be fair with the analysis of the products. Overall this is the product of ... Overall this is the product of choice because they go the extra mile to make sure your pet is getting actual food and not just fillers (meal) and carbs. Cats do not have as much of the Carb enzymes so they need high protien with some fiber. LOVE THIS BRAND compared to others.
I'm a fan of all Orijen cat foods. I started feeding this flavor to my cat due to chicken and beef allergies, and she loves it! She actually begs me for it in the mornings. As with all other Orijen foods, it's incredibly high in animal protein and thus requires much less. My cat only needs 1/4 cup a day, if you can believe it, when she needed 3/4 cup of Purina (which is low in animal protein and high in cheap fillers). It's important to note that because it's so high in protein, it's recommended that you transition your cat over a period of 2 weeks to avoid stomach upset. A lot of people don't do this and blame the food for making their cat puke, when in reality it's much more nutrient dense and requires a longer transition. It's also darker in color and has more ... My boys absolutely love this food! I adopted them mid April and they were on store brand food from the shelter and I have been trying every better-quality dry and canned food since. They turned their noses up at so many brands and flavors until I recognized they loved 'fish' flavored foods. Bought a small bag of this food and am now integrating it with the old food. Placing this next to the old food, they scarf this food down first and walk away, only nibbling the old food over the day because that's what's left until the next proper meal where more new food is added and they scarf that down first again! I have not noticed any tummy upset or diarrhea slowly working this new food into their regimen.
Tried this after numerous other brands/flavors, as they stopped making my cat's usual kibble. It's hard to find the right kind of food, due to restrictions from allergies. Gluten &/or Grain free kibble options are rather limited for cat food- anywhere. I've tried this brand before, no luckGot her this particular flavor&...she's back to waking me up LOUDLY each morning for feeding time! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BRAND. It's pricey but worth it for their health. I like that while the bag has the usual nutrition break down analysis+explains "whole prey" diet& has at least 5different (raw or fresh) kind of animals + fish. Very high protein, high quality. There's even a link by barcode on bag- to helpful instructions on how to switch your cat to a high protein diet ...
