I wasnt sure how my 5 year old would do with this, but he loves it. He is still in the beginning levels and learning how to walk, run, jump and grab. The peices are good quality, comes in a great storage case. There are other games you can download too that dont require any peices, such as drawing. The scanning peice that goes on top of the iPad is so great. I really like these programs. As he gets more advanced with this one I plan on buying another set. Has also been helpful with holding his attention while I'm working from home.

My soon-to-be 10 year old daughter opened this the second I got it. She looked over the instructions and dove right into it. She decided she wanted to do it with limited help- and I encouraged her to do that! She followed the directions step by step and felt really accomplished when finished. She actually is now looking into different ways of learning how to code stuff as she had so much fun with this. Kudos on a cool product for kids - tech is the future!

My 5 year old and I decided to learn coding together, and this set was just what we were looking for. It has so many options and games for different levels of learning. It uses your own tablet, so that was nice and easy. And all the pieces are good quality and come in their own compartments. The set up itself was more difficult. Our tablet would not recognize the reflector at first, and when it did the character would not move. We tried many times and in the end gave up. We tried a few days later and it was able to work perfectly, so I am not sure if it was the game or the tablet that was having the glitch. But so far it has worked wonderfully and capture my 5 year olds attention.

The Osmo Coding Starter Kit is a really great concept, but as a pandemic parent that's pressed for time, I really cannot stress enough how much time you will need to be able to dedicate to the setup. You have to download half a dozen things to get started, then watch videos and read instructions, all while your child continuously rips the iPad out of your hand and screams, "Let me try!!!" in the shrillest voice possible. Maybe I would have rated this better if I had thought to do the initial setup on my own, without any children present?Anyway, once it's all put together and set up and you know what you're doing, it's fun for the kids. Maybe I would have rated this better if I had thought to do the initial setup on my own, without any children present?Anyway, once it's all put together and set up and you know what you're doing, it's fun for the kids. I was really impressed with the drawing game, even more so than the coding game. The drawing game is perfect for working on hand-eye coordination skills with younger kids and the different angle of the camera lets them really see how they're holding their pencil. I'm not sure if Osmo offers the drawing game on its own, but they should. The coding game is simple enough, but I'm not sure why it's called a coding game. There's no actual coding involved. The system uses the camera to look at the pieces put down on the table, controlling the characters on the screen. If you lose the pieces, the game won't work -- so head's up if there are young kids in the house. They do give you a really solid container to store the pieces in though and all of my kids like it a lot, with ages ranging from 6 to 10.Overall, I think this is a neat idea, but I wish they would streamline the download into maybe 1 app. And maybe change the game since there's really no coding involved at all. I'd love to see an expansion on the drawing game too, since that's such a hit in our house and could be so beneficial to younger kids.
My little boy gets excited when we get the Osmos coding starter kit out of the box. He is 5 years old and loves to use his iPad. It makes me feel better about allowing him extra screen time when he is having so much fun and learning coding at the same time. With the possibilities of having to teach him at home I found it a blessing to find something that interest him while being educational. After the first time of use he has been able to navigate and do it all on his own. The system was easy to navigate, install, and use and keeps my little one occupied for significant amount of time. He is excited when he does something new and loves to show of his new skills to everyone.
I love this product. Honestly one of the best products on the market to teach young children the general tools needed to begin coding. They make the games easy to use yet exciting and challenging so each of my kids have different experience each time they use it. The product does need to be connected to a tablet and includes the accessories needed to begin coding. My children honestly haven’t realized that while they are coding they are learning and it has been a fantastic experience.
I truly regret that I didnt buy this sooner. Ive seen these things around for years and though it would just be another toy that claimed to be "educational" that would end in the trash. 3 kids later i gave it a try and my kids loved it and i am please with the learning fundamentals of it!!!! We are almost 2 hrs in and i can not pull them away from it.
Great product for kids. My son plays with his Osmo more than iPad games. I love that he doesn’t realize he’s learning well having fun. He can sit there for Doing the activities. I especially like that there is an app parents can download to monitor what their kid are learning and amount of time they’re online. It also shows their achievements. The only con about this product is the fact that I have to take the iPad out of the protective case. My son is very clumsy so I was a little iffy about it. Other than that it’s a great product and keeps kids learning while having fun.
My son is 5 and with covid closures I've been really worried about his education. My son LOVES his iPad and I have been trying to find ways to make sure when he's on it, its at least educational. Osmo products have saved my sanity, I can officially let him play on his iPad but know he's learning. It took him about 15-20 minutes and he started picking up the coding quickly. I did sit with him the first few times to help him understand as it does change and add more but now hes a pro. Id say anything us parents can get that help our littles education and learning is a plus. I own a few other OSMO products as well and im a firm believer these are wonderful products.
My 5 year old son is in love with this program. It's super easy to start. Just put your tablet in the base and download the games and it is ready to start playing. It has 3 games loaded on it. He picked up on it right away and started playing. It is fun as well as challenging for him. I love that he has been so enthused with using this program. I am highly impressed with it and the way it is so easy to use. I plan on buying more of these programs for him. I am highly highly impressed with this..I highly recommend.
