Padding is great, adjustability is decently easy with many points of adjustment, and the straight jacket plus front opening have worked great for me.My *only* complaint (other than my minor gripe about the weight) is that I wish the opening for the sleeping bag compartment was a touch bigger. I use a large synthetic sleeping bag, and it just *barely* can't get in via that pocket. I can toss it through the front pocket and get it all the way to the bottom, however, so at least it can still come with me.

Solid pack that I've received but haven't tried out in real life. I like the multiple accesses to the main area of the bag. Fabric feels tough and it's nice that it comes with a rain cover. On the downside, water holders are impractical (too high and far back to reach in easily). And the hip belt pockets are also a little too far back. They might require two hands to open and close. I've compared it with the Baltoro 65, which has more pockets and more practical pocket design, and a suspension system that really wraps around your body.Overall though, the Osprey is well built and should last long.

Any moisture goes right through the material,including humidity. The torso adjustment us accomplished through the shoulder straps alone. There is no other adjustment as before. If you're on the smaller side it will not dial in correctly and your bag will be top heavy. The shoulder harness is offset to the left, so the right shoulder strap cuts into your shoulder and restricts blood circulation. Upon research I Found the Osprey brand was sold to a company called Helen of Troy out of Greece. It's quite obvious to me that they buy quality brands and destroy them, while taking everyone's money.

This pack was purchased both for an upcoming trip to climb Mt. Rainier and to supplement my 25-year-old Dana Terraplane. I have only used it once (so far) but I like it--with a couple of caveats. Good points are the pack has been quite comfortable with the weight I've had in it (though I haven't backpacked with it yet). It's mainly a top-loading bag--which I prefer--with a roomy top lid and an included rain cover. The waist belt is comfortable, the shoulder straps have also been good and the integrated whistle on the sternum strap buckle is a nice touch. The pack also has one of those internal dividers to make a sleeping bag compartment--I'm not a fan of that either, but it can be easily unzipped.When I use the pack backpacking (it's intended use) I'll probably have more of a sense of its overall value. But those are my initial impressions. Overall, I'm pretty pleased with so far.
Havenāt had the chance to take this out yet, but Iām expecting to love it. Iāve dialed in the fit and loaded it up, and itās as if the pack is a part of my body. No discomfort, no shifting around, not even much sense I have a load hanging off my backā impressive stuff. After humping a medium ALICE pack for 20 years, though, my standards might be a little low. Still, I think this will prove to be an objectively excellent pack. Good fabric, good construction, who cares about ultralight when hauling heavy loads? One gripe: I wish Osprey had kept the trekking pole attachment. Iād give 4.75 stars if I could, not worth deducting a whole star for that. The daypack lid would be OK, too, but I can live without it. I donāt expect to regret this purchase.
I asked my oldest son (age 30) what he wanted for Christmas this past year and he had been wanting to upgrade his pack. He had researched backpacks for a couple of months and chose this Aether 65. He's had it 5 months now and has used it A LOT. He absolutly LOVES it. He's right at 6' and about 210lbs. My guess would be he loads it up to between 25-35lbs depending on weather temps, gear he takes, and length of trip. He has told me it feels great no matter how heavy he loads it up. The suspension is amazing and it's the best pack he's ever had. I'm so glad I finally was able to get him a Christmas gift that he loves and actually uses a lot. He's planning a backpacking trip to Europe and this is the pack he's taking. Minuses - weight, top cover is not removable, outer pocket is not all mesh (inflexible), lack of easy to reach trekking pole attachments ( though ice axe tabs are on the back of the pack).This is a bit of a specialty backpack built for people carrying heavy loads in hostile environments. I am thinking something like technical approaches where you have to pack in your climbing gear through rocky areas. I think this pack will deal with abrasion problems well. The material is very durable and meant to last but is a bit heavy at 5lbs and 1.9ozs. Osprey has been around for a bit now and I feel like they have really honed in long-term comfort with the amount of adjustability they give you on this pack. The adjustability is excellent and both the hip belt and shoulder straps are very comfortable. If you are in between sizes, consider that the hip belt in the larger size may be too big for you, with the two pieces coming completely together in the middle. I'm usually a medium top and small bottom and could probably have gone with the smaller size. I measure in between and the larger size fits my torso well, and there is just enough adjustability in the hip belt to work. I went to look at a Gregory Baltoro 75 but they donāt make it in my torso lengthā¦bummer. However, the lady recommended trying on this pack with a little weight and BOY LEMME TELL YA! I go into the GSMNP for Backcountry Fly Fishing so I needed a roomy pack. This thing holds all of my winter gear, my BA Tiger Wall UL2, 5 days worth of food, fishing rod, waders, net, I mean everything and still has a good 10L to spare!
