I really actually liked this backpack because I love my other osprey porter 40, so really osprey has been a favorite brand for me. This one is supposedly water resistant which is a big bonus for me, but I didn't test it out, so I can't speak on this. I seemingly am often caught in the rain so bonus for waterproof and water resistant products. So what else I liked about this backpack: the pockets on the backpack. This bag got many good reviews so I tried it out at home and ultimately, it wasn't going to work for what I wanted it for. Maybe you'll appreciate it more than I. The price was also reasonable compared to some of the other bags I looked at as well.

I used this as my daypack for Camino de Santiago, Spain. The pack was light and comfortable on all day hikes. There is an adjustable external pouch where you can keep items such as shoes, wet clothes, or folding trekking poles. I think a bike helmet would fit there as well. In front of the pouch, there is a slim small zippered compartment for smaller items. The largest zipper pouch is also big enough to carry warmer layers, rain jacket, food items, etc. There is also an inner pouch for a laptop or iPad. You can also put in a Camelback bladder and feed the tube through an opening at the top. The middle zipper component carries the essentials like passports, eyeglass cases, etc. The waist and chest straps are also useful. I want to start this by saying I like Osprey. I like their packs and aesthetics.That being said the practicality of this pack is questionable.First, the pack is very uncomfortable to carry. The mian straps lack any padding. Two of the straps rub against my triceps and scratch then carrying the pack while hiking. I tried every configuration to try and avoid.The laptop compartment lacks padding, and the pack will fall over if set on the floor with the laptop in it.I could see this pack being for maybe a teenager going to their job or someone on a really light hike.I wouldn't carry this for work. As the laptop compartment is not great.Tl:dr even if you want a really lite day pack I advise you spend a little more. The backpack is uncomfortable to carry.

I've owned this pack for about three years now, using it mostly for toting a laptop and other things too and from work and on trips—it connects to my Osprey Fairview travel pack and it is my under-seat bag when flying.There is so much I appreciate about this bag but, for all that, I can't recommend it. It has one, really significant defect that makes it frustratingly difficult to use: It lacks a flat bottom and it is impossible to put it down in such a way that it doesn't fall over. That sounds like a minor thing, but you can't even effectively leaning it against a wall. The front zip pocket is horizontal now instead of vertical and is deeper. The whole front section and its two organization drop-in pockets are deeper. The bag feels a bit wider with more room in the padded sleeve. I do miss the back doesn’t have the extra space between the bag and the air mesh layer - the hydration bladder used to go there outside the main bag compartment. I liked using that space to hide my wallet or a book. Seriously it’s the best diaper bag - forget those baby specific designer diaper bags that have a short life span and get this bag! It’s way more versatile & durable & practical & attractive. It fits pretty nicely in bottom of strollers and under airplane seats. The old daylite plus was great but I’m really happy to have more space and more secure pockets.
I’ve only used this bag twice so far. Once was just as a bag for the beach and another was an overnight airshow where we camped. It was fantastic! All of the pocket space without being bulky. I had a 3L water bladder, snacks, sunscreen, bug spray, portable radio, and had room to add items picked up from the air show. This was the perfect day bag hiking around an airshow in the heat. Now I did put a frozen keep cool towel (in its plastic ziplock style container) in with the water bladder, which kept the water cool as anticipated but the condensation was significant. It wasn’t dropping by any means but it was damp through the bag in the corner that the rag was in. That would be the only complaint so far.
I'm amassing a bit of an Osprey back collection (Nebula, Fairview, Sirrus), but the Daylite Plus is by far my favorite and most used. It's lightweight, comfortable, and the perfect size with just enough features to make it practical. I've used it on hikes, as our day pack for a family trip with Disneyland with four kids, and on planes as my personal item. It's surprisingly roomy - I even pack for a long weekend in NYC using only this backpack, including tall boots! I've had mine for several years and love it as much as anyone can love a backpack (which is to say, a lot!). My only complaint with it is the side mesh pockets aren't deep enough to securely hold a water bottle and you have to loop the compression strap through the handle to secure it. Minor complaint.
My boyfriend and I each bought this pack to attach to our Osprey travel packs (Farpoint Trek 55 and Fairview Trek 50). We were under the impression that the Daylite Plus bag would easily attach to the travel packs since we were backpacking across Europe and could have really benefitted from carrying both together. While we were eventually able to attach them (such that the smaller pack "kangaroos" on the front of a person while they are holding the larger pack on their back), this was not an easy process. It took probably 10 minutes to actually secure the smaller bag to the larger one; it's not simply a "clip-on" situation like we were expecting. Additionally, the pack just FEELS so much smaller than 20 liters. One thing I struggle with is the fact that I am constantly loosening and tightening the compression straps (for the stuff pocket) in order to access the main compartment. If the compression straps are tightened, it is tough to get anything relatively bulky out of the bottom of the main compartment.Pros (to be fair lol): extremely lightweight, fairly comfortable when not overfilled, breathable on the back, shoulder straps reasonably comfortable for being so thin

The Daylight is only marginally larger in liter size at 5L, but is 33% larger than the Farpoint 15L pack. What this mainly produces is a wider mouth and much less narrow daypack feel. I find that the 15L pack doesn't feel like it can "swallow" items all that conveniently and having a little extra girth goes a long way...An additional note or two. The Farpoint and Fairview systems are the same just men/women's shoulder size, and both can be purchased either as the 55L "combo" product or the two packs separately as a 40L and 15L pack. The 40L packs sold individually are better as they contain also a laptop sleeve as well as a dump pocket.The Daylite and Farivew/Farpoint fit together decently well. The top loops are easy and I recommend connecting the bottom to the loops with carabiners instead of the cumbersome default buckle system.I wish I'd known about this dynamic prior to buying my Farpoint 55 system...My only criticisms of the Daylite Plus are mainly that I would prefer zippers that take a luggage lock (the 15L Farpoint/Fairview bag does), but this is not a travel pack, so it does make sense that it wouldn't. And also the Farpoint/Fairview 15L pack contains buckles that clip into the 40L pack shoulderstraps so that it can be "front worn", and the Daylight does not have this - it seems to me that Osprey should just make all of their packs cross-compatible, feature-wise.All and all it's a great daypack though, and I do recommend it over most of the other options - especially if combining with a larger Osprey pack and you want to hook them together for traveling - this is the biggest reason to choose this pack over others IMO.

I loaned it to my son for a Scouts High Adventure trip that came back with a hole. It happens, the material was super lightweight (flashpack type). So I decided to go with this one to replace it. It’s thicker and a more durable material as well as very water resistant (the one thing I had always wished my old one had). Took it to chaperone on a 16 hour band completion this past weekend and it exceeded my expectations. It poured almost all day and my belongings were super dry. Stash pocket was useful for throwing my rain jacket and pants in during the brief time it let up. Grab handle on the back was awesome and sturdy -loved that, and I didn’t have any issues with it bothering my back or neck. No issues with the chest strap either, maybe people don’t realize that they slide down on the piping to sit lower? Also the webbing and breathability on the back and arm straps was awesome in the steamy wet hot weather, worked like a charm. I’m a 5’9” 188lb. 40D woman and cinched up the fit and was super comfortable and felt like I wasn’t wearing anything. I was happy I went with the Daylight Plus after all (was really on the fence between this and the Daylight), after this trip I knew I made the right choice.
