I'm giving this three stars because the bag itself deserves 5 stars while the hydration bag inside deserves zero stars. The bag itself is well made and well designed. It is well ventilated and the shoulder straps have nice flexibility. The magnetic clasp on the chest strap is a nice touch. However, the plastic hydration bag is hot garbage. The clamp that holds the bag shut is very difficult to slide on and off, and the hose itself is affixed and cannot be removed for cleaning. I ended up throwing away the bag and using a Platypus 'Big Zip' that I had laying around. If you have a hydration bag that you can use and are looking for a quality bag , this isn't a bad choice. But if you are looking for a complete set, look elsewhere.

I got this only to use at music festivals. I’ve only used it 5 times over the past 6 months and the bite valve silicone already tore. I went to look at other reviews and it seems to be an issue, that the silicone breaks easily. I ordered another pack of 3 silicone covers, I hope they last. The good thing is that the bite valve locks. I bought a cover for the bite valve but it flies off sometimes. There is are hip and chest straps.Other than that, I do enjoy other aspects. Wish it was a tiny bit larger, but I like the design. The zipper to open up the bag is hidden. Perfect defense against pickpocketing. There’s also another hidden small zipper pocket near the hydration bladder slot. There is a magnetic holder for the tube, but I can’t use it while dancing because ... MoreI got this only to use at music festivals. Exactly what I wanted! I picked up both a Kitsuma and Katari pack for me and my husband for frequent day hiking and they were perfect! Osprey is great for the durability and quality. I chose the “7” packs because they had more storage room for our rain jackets, an extra hip band, and included the larger 2.5 liter hydration bladder. I also was able to fit in our packs extra bite valves/nozzles, a small first aid kit in my pack, extra hiking socks, sunscreen, and mosquito spray! We were also able to easily move our hydration bladders to our backpacking gear. My husband is a larger guy and was able to just finish the full 2.5 liters over 6 hours/each day backpacking, and I used my extra water from the bite valve for hand washing and to wet our bandanas and hats for ... MoreExactly what I wanted! The water stays surprisingly cool in the backpack and I got into the habit of throwing the filled hydration bladders in the fridge before trips and adding extra ice in the morning. No problems with leaks! Also keeps your back cool! Very happy with my purchase!

Good size for biking, day hikes
6 September 2022

Purchased this hoping to use it for mountain/trail biking and trail running, but knew it would be a bit large for running. The chest and hip belts keep it still for walking and light riding, but running is out of the question even with only the bladder inside. Still very happy with it, perfect storage for keys/extra layer/snack. 2.5L bladder comes in and out easily for cleaning/use in other packs or vests.

Great bag for mountain biking and shorter hikes

Very comfortable bag and 2 liters is perfect for hitting the trails biking and hiking. The outer side pockets are handy for slipping your sunglasses quickly into the bag without unstrapping. The magnetic bike valve is clutch as well. Very happy with this purchase!

For cycling, this pack is everything I was looking for and more! I was hesitant, reading the reviews of this and other Osprey hydration packs, but with a little Google help and some attention to detail I can counter many of the negative comments I've seen. Here's the basic pluses though:I wanted something that not only held H2O for MTB trails, but could also work for layers and lunch on longer days and rail-trail rides. I liked that this held a full 2L bladder and also had that extra external zip pack pocket. When I first took this out of the package and put it on, I thought it was too narrow and nearly returned it. Instead I tested it out by adding a tablet and stuffing a shirt in. Instead I tested it out by adding a tablet and stuffing a shirt in. The weight put the pack in place and it's perfect! Some reviewers complained about the difficulty with the magnet on the end of the mouthpiece. I believe those folks may not have realized a - that you can cut the hose so that it is the right length for you personally, b - that the hose may come on the wrong side (Mine came attached to the left shoulder strap, which for me being right-handed needed to be on the right shoulder) and c - that the little magnetized clip comes loose. Once you move it so that it slides freely - I had no issues getting it clipped on the first try - easy easy - on a 3-hour trail ride recently. And after cutting the hose a couple of inches, it's even easier, though honestly it was also fine before. Here's what really caused me to love this though: the size!! Holy cow this little pack holds a lot!!I did a 3-hour/30-mile rail trail ride recently in SW Virginia. It was a cool day, low 60's and cloudy, so I knew I'd likely be on/off/on/off with my light wind jacket. I also thought if the sun came out I'd probably get hot enough to want short sleeves. So on my inaugural test ride with the new pack - it held the following:2 full liters of water (plus an extra bottle clipped in my cage on the bike, just in case)lunch plus snacks (sandwich, apple, to-go cup of peanut butter and multiple bars/packs of nuts/etc)phonekeyswallet with ID/insurance cards/etca drywick t-shirtmy light wind jacket (which I indeed took on and off throughout the day!)Earbuds in charging caseSmall travel/emergency bike pumppack of tissuesziplock bag of sanitizer wipes for restrooms along the way (glad I had those!)various other items - chapstick, small container of advil, band-aids, etc....ALL of that was inside the zippered pouch of the pack and it was surprisingly not full, even so. Seriously - this little pack holds a TON of stuff!!The two outside pockets I didn't even use on this trip - but was thrilled to know I had that space for future, especially with the seasons changing and the need for heavier clothes comes into play. I can't wait. |*side note to add that it is also super lightweight and not hot. I was surprised to find that to be the case, as I tend to heat up easily, but no extra back sweat, no discomfort at all. Even fully loaded at the start, full water bladder, the pack was completely unnoticeable.Truly, this little thing would be my go-to pack of choice for planes, volcano hikes, and any other outing and adventure. Now if we could just get rid of this little virus so I can travel again...'Til then, it'll be 2 wheels and 2 feet! Off we go!

Love this backpack!
10 May 2023

I bought the Kitsuma 3 Backpack in red to match my new ebike. I love matching accessories and clothing to my new red Moustache ebike. I was looking for a small backpack which had a water hydration system. This fit the bill perfectly! I have seen reviews which say it’s too small, that you can’t fit anything else in it except the water and a couple of other items. This is true; however, for me it’s perfect, as I already have a Topeak back on the back of my bike which has lots of room for anything I might wish to pack with me for a day trip, or overnight. I particularly wanted a small backpack which wouldn’t weigh me down, because I don’t tend to drink enough water when I am cycling. This did the trick. The tube easily fastens right across the front on a strap with a magnet so I can drink my water without having to stop to grab my water bottles from the cages. About the only negative (and it’s a small one) is I would agree with some reviews which complain that the magnet often comes off of its mate on the strap so it sometimes dangles across your body when you’re cycling. However, it’s easily fixed with a little tie. I used the backpack on several day trips in Arizona and it worked like a charm. I love this backpack and am so glad I bought it.

Perfect for day trip mountain biking
3 October 2022

I bought this for a week's worth of riding in Moab and used it everyday. It fit everything I needed it to for car ride (gloves, socks, snacks, small tools), and for the ride. I didn't use the waist strap and still found it pretty secure on my back even when riding aggressively and over drops etc. Just be careful when cut the tube length to fit across chest - I cut mine a little too short! I would recommend this model and size to others.

Perfect for shorter hikes and those who pack light
22 July 2021

I purchased this for hiking (up to 5 hours), and biking (up to 2 hours), but it was a bit too small for me. I wanted to be able to bring a lunch, a light jacket, and another water bottle to have my electrolyte tabs, so I ended up returning this one to get a 12L pack where I can fit a bit more.Compared to the one I exchanged it for, this one lacks air ventilation for your back, better hip straps and mini accessible pockets, and a helmet strap, although for the price and the size, it's expected! Really nice, but
30 January 2023

The colour is amazing and it's really slim. But I find the zipper pocket too small. And the main compartment I use for stuff more tha the bladder is held closed with a slip toggle thing that is finicky to deal with and if you fall down (snowboarding, things can fall out). Still, really nice. I like the brand alot.
