Im 5'6" and was wanting a durable larger bag for bug-out/ emergency preparedness. Im extremely picky and go through tons of research before buying. This backpack is perfect! Durable and i can put practically everything i would need to live out of it if need be or use on the west coast trail. Im a woman in my mid 30s, 5'6", 240 lbs and bought size S/M. Fits great, just make sure you adjust everything to your liking.

I initially when to REI to buy a Gregory and left with the Osprey Kyte. This is a wonderful backpack which is super comfortable and lives up to its statement that it is made for shorter, narrower, curved body types which mine is. I took it with me to Costa Rica where we backpacked through Corcovado and it stayed tight to my body and balanced well so that I never fell backwards due to weight while hiking which happened to a couple of my other family members. The side zipper that allows you to access things without opening the top was exceptionally handy as was the bottom zipper pocket. I bought the 48 Litre backpack and it’s large enough to fit my hiking needs while also being small enough to take as a carryon (goodbye checked luggage). I would suggest going to REI ... MoreI initially when to REI to buy a Gregory and left with the Osprey Kyte. Regretfully, I purchased this bag during a sale and it was delivered to a non-secure spot by the courier and therefore I did not receive it.I have tested this bag before though and can review it. I was previously using the Kyte 46 and the design of this bag is more versatile for someone like me who will pack this to capacity on international trips as the top piece is entirely removable and adjustable (convenient when you use this as carry-on baggage). The material also feels more resistant and more water-resistant, though it does come with it's own rain cover.Fully adjustable like the Kyte, slightly increased capacity but with the versatility to omit or include the top bag portion for size control, A nice upgrade for someone like me who wanted just a little more ... MoreRegretfully, I purchased this bag during a sale and it was delivered to a non-secure spot by the courier and therefore I did not receive it.I have tested this bag before though and can review it. Love the bag size and colour. Lots of room and extra pockets. It does have an internal frame which sometimes makes it difficult to look up as the top of the bag meets the back of my head.I bought this for longer hillwalks and to carry kit when climbing. Love it so far, just wish the frame was removable.
This bag seems smaller than the actual volume it advertises but this is because it expands width wise rather than expanding height. Durability for these bags is paramount, which I haven’t had the chance to test but the build quality seems very good with great zippers and strong seams. Especially at a sale price, I think this is a great bag.
A bit on the heavier side, but good quality and well built. Has all the features I was looking for, except for the lid that converts to a dackpack (daylid), wish that was included on this one. Great size for weekend backcountry trips. Will last many years of adventures!
Love this pack. I used it on a multi-day hut trip and it was great. It’s not an ultra-light pack so adds some weight but is well designed and pretty comfortable, even when quite full. I think it would work for 1-2 night backpacking trips, though in bear country it would be tough to fit gear + a bear canister. I’d likely have to use a larger pack in those conditions.
Maybe the other reviewer needed an M/L? If straps fell lower maybe shes small on top. Or the bag was too big for her height? Was she sized at REI?Anyway great backpack with lots of pockets. My 20ounce Yeti water tumbler fit perfect.Great all around for Hiking.Im 5”8
This is an excellent backpack that sits well on my small frame. I love that the hip pockets are big enough to hold snacks and a phone, as well as the built-in rain cover, straps to attach hiking poles, and side zippers to access items inside. It is also comfortable on the shoulders and is very well-designed with the placement of pockets in all the right places. I have an Osprey daypack as well and I also have nothing but great things to say about it.
The XS/S size is too small for a “small” torso length. I’m 5’4”, 150 pounds, and a small torso length in every pack manufacturer. The shoulder straps ended around my boobs (which aren’t large), which made the curve of the strap uncomfortable and pressure of cinching them awkward and painful across my chest and collar bone. The shoulder straps are also sewn very close together, making them tight around my traps and neck. The hip pockets are so far on the side of your hips that it’s hard to open the zippers. It would have been nicer to have them placed farther forward. This size was clearly designed for the extra small in mind, because even with the torso length adjustment, the other components are too small for a “small.”Additionally, the side water pockets are ... MoreThe XS/S size is too small for a “small” torso length. You cannot take anything in or out without taking the pack off. Osprey’s attempt at side entry for your water bottle utterly fails. Your water bottle is stuck at an angle with 2” barely sticking into the pocket and the other side poking into your back. I have no idea how a girthy water bottle like a Nalgene would fit through the narrow opening.
