Pack itself is well made, many useful compartments, looks good too. However, compared to the "lid lock" on 2019 version, the helmet net is so inconvenient. It obstructs the access to top quick access pocket when the helmet is on. Also, although hip belts are removable, the newly added waist flaps make it less suitable for urban daily use when not biking.

Bought this backpack and it is absolutely awesome! Love all of the different compartments that are available.

Very happy. A bit narrower at the base of the bag but can maximise storage with the outer straps. Using for daily commute and overnight stays.

I use this backpack to commute on my bike and by tube, itβs very comfortable and versatile allowing you to adjust the size with the straps. When commuting on my bike I strap it up and it feels great! Still very able to move around and the mesh on the back is great on warmer days. The rain cover is bright green, does a fairly good job, itβs just the straps that get wet.Iβs a great backpack, and itβs my go to bag to do anything and go anywhere. I also travel with it in low cost flights and it stores very well under the seat.Iβve used several different backpacks over the years and finally I have a great all rounder that suits my needs!
Fantastic bag. Great materials used, amazing attention to detail and build quality. Despite not being the worlds lightest bag due to its firm back, this bag feels weightless due to it incredible fit and adjustment capabilities. The pockets are spacious and it looks smart too. 10/10 bag.
I have a long bike commute to work and I was looking for a cycling-specific upgrade from my usual backpack. I like the mesh back with airflow, the backpack doesn't feel like it's sticking to my back (it's been over 30 degrees each day in Toronto this week!) Straps are comortable too, and it sits nicely on my back. However, I imagine this backpack was designed with a larger man in mind (as most things usually are). I can't see behind the bag very well when changing lanes. Also, there isn't the ease of use I would have wanted - my biggest complaint is that the side pieces that sinch the bag make getting into the bag difficult/impossible. The sinch sides also add a bit of weight. This might be a great bag if you only every pack at home and unpack at work without ...Β MoreI have a long bike commute to work and I was looking for a cycling-specific upgrade from my usual backpack. Purchase of Osprey Metron 24 backpack was based on customer reviews. Delivery took a bit longer than expected but allβs well that ends well. Good price, helpful phone support.
I commute to work by bus every day and had been looking for a new backpack for awhile. I wanted room for my laptop, lunch, snacks, water bottle, book, jacket or rainshell, maybe some groceries if I stopped at the store on my way home. But I also didn't want it to be huge and flopping around when empty. As a 5'11" woman with broader shoulders, most "women's" backpacks were too short in the torso for me and straps were too close to my neck. But this Osprey pack has checked every item on my list. It's long enough that the hip straps actually sit right above my hips. The shoulder straps are set far enough apart that they aren't choking me. There is a ton of room in this bag and the roll top allows me to fit even more if I use it for grocery shopping. There is a ton of room in this bag and the roll top allows me to fit even more if I use it for grocery shopping. Look how much I was able to fit in there! I've never had a roll-top bag before, but I can never go back now! When the bag is mostly empty I can use the side compression straps to cinch it in so that it's not floppy looking. The zippered side pocket is great for keeping my keys, bus pass, and anything else I want easily accessible. The other stretch pocket easily fits my 24oz Hydroflask bottle. And I think there's room to fit a 32-oz at least, but I haven't tested that. I LOVE the zipper pulls because they are easy to hook my finger into and I don't have to fumble with them. I love that a rain cover is included, though I haven't had to use it yet. This bag has done fine so far in the Seattle spring rains. There are so many ways to adjust straps on the backpack to make it work for different situations. There is an open pocket between the main carry space and the zippered smaller pocket that is great for shoving a book or water bottle into without having to undo the roll-top. I have been singing this bag's praises to anyone who listens and one coworker wants to know if it comes in other colors so it won't be completely obvious that he has copied me.
This bag is great except for the helmet storage. Either you store it low on the bag and you look like a turtle or you store it high and it looks fine but blocks the quick access compartment. The older version is better as it uses ospreys more usual helmet attachment system.
It can double as an everyday carry and even a travel backpack.
