Osprey Tempest 6 Waist Pack Grey Women

Took a gamble buying this without trying it on, and being a small person (5'4, 52kg) I was worried about it being too cumbersome. But, it's perfect! Big enough to fit everything I need for a day hike but doesn't obstruct my walking at all, as well as being very comfortable. Having shoulder/trap issues my whole back burns when carrying a small pack on my shoulders, but no additional pain at all from carrying this. Seems well made too, expecting it to last quite a while. Great purchase.

Almost don't know it's there

This lumber pack is so very comfortable for me. I have neck and spine issues that prevent me from wearing a backpack. I have tried a couple of fanny packs but nothing that performs this well and provides such comfort for long periods. It even feels great if I only carry one water bottle in it - no lopsided discomfort.I really like that I don't get too hot where the pack sits against my lower back. A bit sweaty definitely but nothing compared to a shoulder pack.The wrap around (hip) straps are very padded and the ergonomic design means that the pack doesn't bounce around even if I do! Holds so many items. The hip pockets even fit my iPhone 12 which is huge - it's so accessible now and I'm able to reach for it quickly when that photo opportunity crops up.I ... MoreThis lumber pack is so very comfortable for me. Awesome Backpack for outdoor fun!

I use my Osprey Women's Tempest backpack when I hike, ski, mountain bike and snowshoe. The pack fits comfortably snug on my lower back and stays put rather than moving uncomfortably around like my previous pack. I love the roominess of the pockets to store food, tools, or extra hats and gloves. The drink holders are deep and securely hold my water bottles and Contigo mugs. The drink holders also offer insulation keeping my drinks from freezing in the winter. I love the ventilated back of the back to keep me dry. I love how easy it is to adjust the waist size. All in all I really like this sturdy, functional pack.

Good not great

I have a short torso, so tend to have the most luck with osprey products. I need a lumbar pack to hike with that can carry water bottles, so ordered this product as I have liked other women specific osprey bags. Unfortunately, this bag hits my back in an odd place that I know will rub. I also didn't realize that it was built to only hold the specific osprey water bottles instead of the 1L Nalgene bottles I intended to use. So, I returned it.Pros: women specific fit, waist band pockets, exterior lash area for jacket, holds waterCons: only fits specific type of water bottle, fit issues for my body type

Great capacity, very stable

This is my go-to for hiking in winter when I don't have to carry as much water for the dogs. Storage is more than you would expect; I can fit my EXOspikes, a down vest, as well as two dog leashes. A small collapsable dog bowl fits in the waist belt zipper pouch for easy access, as does my phone. Make sure to utilize the compression straps and there is zero bounce.

Holy Pockets, batman!

decided I needed to replace my 20 year old hiking pack. I added a bungie cord down the front and bottom to help with gear stashing. The pockets are huge! I can have my wool beanie, lightweight gloves, and car keys w/big ole key fob in one pocket and still have some room left over. The water bottle sit on your back, so you have to reach around a decent amount to get them (neither a pro or con). I added some hair ties to the waist belt to corral the extra strap length. The water bottles do impinge on the main compartment's space, fyi.

Perfection in a day pack.

After 7 years of daily use and service it's time to replace my steadfast friend, my Tempest 6, and nothing else will do but another just the same. My original has lost some of its structure, is irrevocably dirty, and has faded out to an unappealing color. I hate to say goodbye to it. As you can see from the photos I haven't put the new one on the trails yet, but have noticed a few changes: The front buckle is more robust, but that means it will be more difficult to tie my whistle on the ends of those straps. The carry / grab handle up top is tiny, which I don't like. The side pockets seem a little bigger, which is appreciated. I remove the Airscape panel myself, but you might like it. I bought this a few months ago because I needed something smaller than my regular pack for short hikes in hot weather, when I don't want to use a whole backpack to carry just a few essential items. They're fitted to your body to maximize airflow and comfort (some really nice mesh suspension in the back), and even with the bottles filled to different levels the pack remains well-balanced.The bottles themselves are of good quality, I didn't notice any weird taste to them and they're easy to clean. The shape of the bottles is almost bean-shaped but this doesn't bother me because they have enough capacity and they are clearly designed to fit the pack, not some cheap afterthought. The plastic is flexible but strong. The mouthpieces are some kind of rubber material that doesn't fray or degrade from repeated biting-and-pulling-to-open. The elastic ties keep the bottle in place through all my running and jumping. And they don't leak AT ALL. I recommend if you choose this pack that you have some shoulder flexibility to reach behind yourself, because the bottles (at least for me) tend to rest on the lower back.After the bottles were filled, I had enough room left for a few snacks, sunglasses, my phone, a personal first aid kit, and binoculars. I'm a 5-foot female with a small waist and wide hips-- the small size fits me nicely and all the straps are VERY adjustable, but is a little bit on the tall side (the height of the pack takes up my lower back but doesn't exert any unwanted pressure). I'm short, but I imagine it would work just as well for women of different stature. All the material is good quality, the zippers are tight, the stitching is all together. It's easy to tell a lot of thought and engineering went into making this pack.There is a handle on the top which is a GREAT design choice, because it allows me to hang my pack from a hook or carry it comfortably in my hand. The hip support is pretty much what you'd find on a regular hiking pack.Aesthetically, the Tempest looks pretty good, I like the color scheme and design details (got the blue and grey one). I wish the padding on the sides was a little more robust and that there were capacity markings on the bottles, but overall I am really glad I purchased this, no regrets.

Works for men too!

Love this (white) pack for trail running in the summer heat on longer routes. Nothing on your hot back. Holds a small hardshell, microspikes (for winter), and water.I asked Osprey, and the men's and women's packs are the same except for color and the length of the webbing in the hip belt. So go and pick your favorite color!

iPhone 8 Plus *does* fit

I asked this question below and was told no, but I'm glad I ordered it to see for myself because it fits just fine with no tugging or struggle and even a little room to spare.Everyone loves Osprey packs (my husband included) but they've never fit well for me personally. This one is an exception because its a waist pack.I took a star off because of the water bottle situation. It doesn't make sense to not have water bottle holders that eitherA) Have a circumference that fits a standard Nalgene bottle orB) Has elastic stabilizers that will secure a taller, narrower bottle that fits circumferentiallyAs it stands, the Nalgene won't fit and the taller bottles can't be secured.
