There's a little bit more depth on the side in on and it's a little tricky and a mild annoyance reaching your hand in that deep to try to get something from inside the pocket. The bag is so useful that I plan to get the 60L for trips where I'm going snorkeling/diving and for kayak camping trips.

I bought this and immediately took it on a 3 week trip. Through trains, planes, and automobiles between 7 different stays, the bag held up great. It's very light on features, but I appreciate that because I feel safer knowing there aren't loads of zippers for pickpockets to tug on. I haven't had it in much rain yet but the fabric makes me optimistic that it should hold up well if the seams don't leak. The straps are comfy enough; given the lack of a ventilated back panel or hip belt, this bag isn't made to be rucked for miles.

Fantastic Long Travel Bag
29 May 2022

This bag is SOOO much bigger on the inside than it looks! Bought for my daughter who is going on a 3 week boat trip. It looks a little small after unpacking it so as a test she dumped her entire laundry hamper, which looked 3x bigger, into this bag & still had room left over! Very sturdy construction & very comfortable shoulder straps. We also looked at North Face, Patagonia, Helly Hansen & Mystery Ranch soft collapsible duffels. I'm really glad we went with the Osprey Transporter 95!

Fantastic for a 4-day trip as a carry-on
24 August 2022

Lightweight, easy to organize, durable, and easy on the wallet. I took this duffel on a 4-day trip. For reference, I packed into this bag 5 days' worth of light-weight clothes (t-shirts, 3 pairs of pants but no jeans, leggings, underwear and socks), 2 light jackets, 1 thick sweater, 1 pair of sneakers, 1 pair of flip-flops, 1 large and fully stocked toiletry bag, 1 extra pouch for misc things, 1 swimsuit set and there was still a little extra room to spare. Carried this onto a small plane and I was not asked to gate check this duffel bag. Love the ability to use this as a backpack and it's the perfect size for a large woman like me (5'8").

Huge Duffel Bag for Travel Needs!
16 February 2018

I first got the bag and was surprised it all fit in the packaging. I think all packed the size of a clipboard. It came with a storage bag (great space saver), backpack straps attached and optional side strap. The backpack straps can be unclipped from the bottom and stored in the top pocket when not in use if you are using it as a sling bag. I prefer using it as a backpack if it's fully loaded to reduce back/shoulder issues. The backpack straps are really comfortable the only draw back is that it does not have a waist strap but it does have a chest strap. This duffel bag is great for all type of uses. Great for multiple days of travel depending on what you plan on carrying. I have not tried yet but by the looks of it, it's way too big to be a carry on. A great positive of the bag is that the sling strap can easily be detached and the backpack straps can be hidden so when you check in your bag, the straps will most likely not catch on to anything.Another positive is that since it's a duffel bag you can open and easily grab items verses most backpacking backpacks where its a giant stuff sack and you need to take everything out to get items on the bottom. There is plenty of space to carry all my gym clothing, equipment (small foam roller, bands, wraps...etc), and still have plenty of space.I stuffed all my camping gear in there which included: Sleeping bag, 2 person (tent sticks included), folded sleeping pad, 1 set of clothes (socks, underwear, shirt, jacket, pants), small camping stove, gas, small cooking pot, 2 dehydrated meals, 3L water pack (Fits inside the same pocket on the top flap), wipes, headlamp, and snacks. All of this fit INSIDE the bag! I still had some more space if I needed to add more items. I personally would not use it for camping because it does not have enough quick access pockets to get items. If you need to get an all around bag for travel, gym, camping this bag is pretty good. I am giving it 4 stars because of the lack of ventilation for my back and waist support.

Perfect Bag
26 December 2021

Ordered one for me and my husband for our recent trip. It was a two week trip and we had to bring formal clothes to attend a wedding, but we wanted to only bring carry-on luggage. We were concerned these bags would be too small. But we had no trouble packing our essentials. The back pack option is so clever and useful. The conversion is quick and easy.My bag arrived missing an essential buckle and strap. It was definitely an omission by the manufacturer not Altitude. Altitude offered to replace the bag, but I loved the colour I had ordered and there were no others in stock. Somehow Altitude managed to find the missing strap for me. I have always been impressed by Altitude Customer Service, but this truly amazed me.

Perfect travel bag for three week European trip.
18 July 2023

Through six countries, on planes, trains, taxis and on foot, this duffle performed without a problem. Mine is an older version, but similar to the current one. It's basically one big compartment with a couple of small pockets, but with packing cubes, it stayed organized and carried the weight well. When other travelers were asked to put their wheeled bags "in the hold" I was waved on through carrying my bag by one of it's four handles. Hint: don't try to carry it through a crowded plane with dangling backpack straps - just tuck them away before boarding.

This bag is rock-solid and
3 June 2023

This bag is rock-solid and should be able to survive the worst of abuse. Good luck trying to break or tear this workhorse. The shoulder straps are nicely padded and comfortable. It makes for a great everyday backpack, gym bag or travel carry-on. The TPU-coated nylon is perfectly water resistant and air-tight. Though, that also means that it doesn't provide ventilation, so if you're wearing it in the summer heat, expect back sweat. Osprey has never failed me and this bag is no exception.

Tough and roomy, weatherproof duffel
9 April 2023

This duffel is great for travel where you want a minimalist bag offering just a couple pockets (one internal and one external) and one giant compartment for you to dump everything. This allows you to maximize space usage by minimizing how much space and weight the bag itself takes up. The way the bag is not rigid also allows it to be squished and shaped to fit into plane compartments, assuming you don't pack it too full. Since the body of the bag is almost entirely TPU laminated polyester, it is weatherproof and also easy to clean. The easy conversion to a backpack greatly eases the effort for carrying. One thing to keep in mind is that the current version of the duffel is different from what you see in many reviews/videos online and changed sometime in the past 1-2 ... MoreThis duffel is great for travel where you want a minimalist bag offering just a couple pockets (one internal and one external) and one giant compartment for you to dump everything. The easy conversion to a backpack greatly eases the effort for carrying. One thing to keep in mind is that the current version of the duffel is different from what you see in many reviews/videos online and changed sometime in the past 1-2 yrs (I have the older version too). The current one has a softer outer material which is both thicker/heavier feeling but also much more prone to showing scratches/scuffs. It is more glossy than the previous one which was very matte and also more rigid. The current material is uniform throughout the body whereas the previous version had a ballistic nylon for the bottom half which is much more rugged and less prone to scratches. The current one also has more prominent logos whereas the previous, especially for the black one, had a much more subtle look where the logos were darker and blended in. The current version also lacks the shoulder strap and associated attachment points, but the backpack straps are beefier which is generally good but does make them use more space and slightly more difficult to set up and tuck away. Overall I like the previous version better, mostly b/c of the look/feel of materials used, but the current one is still very good and it's hard to find an alternative that offers almost the same things as this bag.
