I used this for a trip to Iceland. It was still winter so I was unsure as these are pretty thin. Turns out these were my go to pants. If it was a bit colder I had on a thin pair of thermal underwear underneath these. Very comfortable temp wise and breathability. Wind and water repellant. Will be ordering more

These pants are the best. I wear them mostly for backpacking in the summer, as they're light, confortable, not too warm, I like the thigh pocket and I can turn them into shorts in an instant. However, my main complaint is the built-in cord at the hip comes without a buckles. It's unclear if I'm supposed to just tie both ends, so instead I just tied two knots where it comes out of the fabric to lock the cord length, but they tend to break through the opening (since there's no eyelets), so I keep having to fix the seam. I end up wearing a belt most of the time to adjust it (I have rather thin hips). Otherwise, I find the main pockets openings a little too tight to easily slide in a smartphone (like a 6.4-inch), unlike the Ferrosi Crux which I own as well, but at least ... MoreThese pants are the best. In the end, it's a great pair of pants for a good price, but unless OR fixes the cord system with a buckle or cord locks, expect to wear a belt with those pants.

I have a problem with hiking pants. The size of my upper legs and butt relative to my waist seems to be outside the normal design parameters. Which is really a problem for freedom of movement in non-stretchy fabrics. I have blown out the stitching in the crotch of 3 pairs of hiking pants from other brands now before I tried the ferrosi. The fabric is amazing. Breathable and stretchy. Gives me total freedom of movement so I can hike but also do more range-of-motion-intensive things like climb. They also have some light water resistance. I haven't taken them in proper rain (and would probably recommend layering them with some real rain pants for that). But in light misty Seattle stuff, they work great. It is very lightweight and not very warm. Perfect for summer. If it's getting into the 40s, bring long johns or something to layer. If it was going to be both cold and wet, these would not be a good choice. They are my summer (plus late spring and early fall) hiking/backpacking pants. Durability seems good so far, but I haven't put them through a lot either. As far as features, I figured they wouldn't have enough pockets for me, but they have actually been fine. Pockets aren't as important as I thought. The stretch makes what pockets there are (2 side, 2 back, and 1 zip on right leg) hold more than you would expect and still be comfortable/easy to access. Zip pocket is super useful for some headphones, a lighter, and other small items that I use frequently. They look really good on me in both pants and shorts configurationsRecommendations for improvement:A zip pocket on the left leg would be niceIntegrated belt would be great so I don't have to bring one. Bonus points if there are spots to hang a knife on the side/back.Side zips on the convertible pant bottoms would make putting them on/taking them off with shoes a lot easier. They're doable with the stretch, but it's a little harder than it needs to be

I have the non-convertible version and the shorts version of these which are both super light, quick drying and comfortable in the heat. These are just as comfortable when worn as trousers, although when I’ve taken the legs off I can sometimes feel the back of the shorts lightly brushing the back of my knee. I guess because of the extra weight/thickness of the zipper meaning it flexes less during movement.Apart from that, I love them and the extra versatility it will give me once the hot weather returns.
These are great pants. The only downside is the poor quality of the convertible zippers, which was a deal breaker for me... However that doesn't affect the quality of the pants, only its versatility. With that said, I would recommend the non convertible version of these pants anyday. And if OR can fix the quality issue of these convertible zippers, then they would have the best all around convertible pants in the game, on top of already having the best hiking pants.
I wore these pants 32 days straight while walking the Camino Frances in Spain. They were terrific. East to hand wash at night yet be dry in the morning. Lightweight for hot Spanish sunshine yet keeping me warm in the morning. Easy to zip off when your exertions make you sweaty. I didn't even bother alternating with the joggers from another brand, which quickly became my pajama bottoms for cold nights.
I love these for summer hiking and backpacking in the northeast. Great stretch, fit well, durable but very thin and breathable, and shed a light rain. I own the full pants and the convertibles and they fit the same.. I'm on a search and rescue team and work for TrailBound Project, a hiking, backpacking, and bushwhacking school in northern NJ and we recommend Ferrosi pants to our students for summer treks and Prana Zions when it is cooler. I think I own 5 pairs of Ferrosis. Note that I normally wear a 30" inseam and it was true to size, but I wear a 30" waist and I needed to go down to a 28" in the Ferrosis for a good fit. Excellent pants!
Pretty good product. Great pricing. Have worn it twice...once for a 12 km hike in fair summer weather and once for a short 3 km in light rain. So far find the product to be true to size, comfy, lightweight, stretchy when squatting and definitely water resistant. I also had to crawl through a window to help a friend who had locked themselves out and pants showed no marking from scraping my shins along their window frame! My issues with the pants are two fold. There is only one zip cargo pocket on the right thigh...would prefer a second on the left side. Second, the cargo pocket won't fit my phone and still zip closed. I have an standard sized iPhone 13 with an Otterbox Defender. I am a bit unhappy the pocket isn't larger considering the times and phone sizes. If ... MorePretty good product. Great pricing. First- i really like these pants and would like to give them at least 4 stars BUT, i have had some issues. 1) the left thigh area started pilling in an area where nothing rubs, 2) the seam that is in the seat of the pants started to have loops in the stitches that started pulling out. 3) i ordered the 38/30 - The pants seam to be a bit loose and i am a husky 38 waist. Finally 4) i tried getting an exchange for a new pair and i was told they only do refunds- not exchanges.I originally ordered these at a sale price and was told that i would have to reorder at full price plus shipping- so not only am i out an important piece of hiking gear that i really like - now i have to pay more to replace them. The mixed part is that these pants are super stretchy and they ... MoreFirst- i really like these pants and would like to give them at least 4 stars BUT, i have had some issues. 1) the left thigh area started pilling in an area where nothing rubs, 2) the seam that is in the seat of the pants started to have loops in the stitches that started pulling out. 3) i ordered the 38/30 - The pants seam to be a bit loose and i am a husky 38 waist. They dried fast when they got wet and the conversion to shorts was easy to use leaving a great length of shorts. I hike every week and i have tried other brands and OR has great clothing so i was really irritated and quite unhappy about the pants having defects and then how crudy the customer service experience has been. I would gladly post or even update my review if the company would make things right for me as the customer.
I typically wear size 30X30 - 30X32. I got the 30X32 in these and the fit was great! My first thought after taking them out of the box and putting them on was surprise at their insane range of motion and ultra light weight. These are the most flexible pants I have ever worn, hands down (even when considering sweat pants). I have unrestricted range of motion when making movements that one may during climbing, or other strenuous outdoor activities. They don't feel flimsy though and lead me to believe they will stand up quite well to the test of time. It's a weird but awesome balance. They show no signs of wear after doing random things like sitting on rocks, etc...My biggest fear was that the zipper for the zip off bottoms would bother me while walking, but I'm ... MoreI typically wear size 30X30 - 30X32. I cannot stress the comfort of these pants enough. They are so flexible, comfortable, and breathable, yet they keep me relatively warm. These are the most comfortable pair of pants I have ever worn. The DWR coating worked very well for the wetness that I encountered from snow melting off of trees and brush on my most recent outing here in the PNW. The water just beaded up and rolled off. I plan to rejuvenate my DWR finishes with Nikwax when they start to wear off so I'm not overly concerned with the longevity of this or any other particular DWR finish on my apparel, but this stuff did work very well out of the box. These are the most versatile bottom layer I have. Wear them as shorts for the approach, zip the bottoms on when it starts to get colder, toss them on over a base layer, under a hard shell and some gaiters for the Summit and you're good to go! I personally pair these with the Foray pants and Croc Expedition Gaiters (both Gore-Tex and both from OR as well... see picture) when things get colder. The Ferrosi line is truly the perfect addition to any year round layering system.
