We had a preemie with apnea so we came home quite traumatized by the fear he could stop breathing (even though the doctor explained our LO out grew the apnea). Having the owlet sock is the only reason my husband and I were able to get any sleep. Our LO is now 4 months and I would still recommend this sock to anyone with PPA or anxiety in general. The sock base being green lets me know our LO is being monitored and we have had no false alarms. Our basic radio-style monitor is much more reliable and easier to use. That said I like the motion/cry alerts on my phone and temperature reading feeding into the app is nice.I gave a 2 instead of a 1 because it’s better than nothing but I’m not sure I’d spend the money again given I don’t trust it will monitor 100% of the time I’m asleep overnight and that was the whole reason I purchased the sock.

The sock is now being marketed as a sleep assistant, rather than a heart rate monitor (which is the entire reason we wanted the owlet to begin with). After exhaustive research on the owlet website we are still not completely sure if the device will alarm if our babies stats dropped suddenly. It’s never gone off to tell us that, only to indicate the sock has “placement issues”- the sock cannot be far from the base station when in use. We don’t live in a mansion by any means but if we had it on our baby on the main floor and the base station was upstairs in our room it would sound an alarm saying it lost connection. We are unsure how the sock will do when we are no longer room sharing and it might become totally useless at that point.- If your baby is petite, it will be a challenge to get the sock on and stay on properly. We eventually read a tip on the internet to put a baby sock over top of the owlet sock to help keep it on better. That resulted in fewer alarms telling us the sock isn’t on correctly while our baby slept.In conclusion - we DO NOT recommend the camera. As for the sock, we are kind of neutral at this point about it. If we have another baby we will likely look for a different heart rate monitor as we are just so disappointed with Owlet.
This is probably the worst tech product you have ever considered purchasing. The app tells you that you can’t use it for health notification till 1 month. So if you register for it and it’s purchased before baby arrives there is no return period. The support is a mix of documentation for all of their impossible to decipher product names. The app tells you that you can’t use it for health notification till 1 month. So if you register for it and it’s purchased before baby arrives there is no return period. The next worst “feature” on the list is that when your baby starts fussing in the night you’ll have your hands full and have to put up with the nasty sounding beeps from the base unit that’ll wake up your whole house. Think smoke alarm with low battery but louder and playing an annoying song for some unknown reason. And once you’ve calmed your baby you’ll then have to decipher why the base is still not happy and it’ll probably wake your baby all over again.The last and final “feature” I will rant about after being kept awake all night is this companies “support”. You’ll reach out in your hour of need to get useless responses from an “AI” from the late 1980s that will asks pointless questions till you get a person that’s only response is “you’re past your return window, here, I’ll paste a response from our website that says the same thing”. And, “you can’t turn off the audio notifications for your product, you could on our old product. We don’t sell that 1 any more.”Honestly I’ll buy any shiny new tech product going. This though, is absolutely garbage.
