This was my first time using a french press coffee maker. I decided to brew the max 8 cups of coffee. It is easy to figure out and use. First I added in the ground coffee onto the silicon press container. Drop it into the glass carafe. Then I added hot water just on top of the coffee slowly. During this time I wait upto 4 minutes for a stronger brew. It is nice to be able to control how long you can let it steep for. After waiting all I had to do is secure the cap then press down firm and slow until the whole piece touches through the carafe. It is so simple to pour the coffee through the side filter of the pitcher and done. It is a fast process to clean up the carafe as well. The handle is sturdy and well designed to lift out the grounds and dump out. Quick to use ...Ā MoreThis was my first time using a french press coffee maker. Convenient and effective design. Dig the coffee ground lift platform. Great for coarser grounds. Havenāt done fine grounds yet, but seems it would still work alright. Easy to clean and works as advertised.

This french press is very good! I appreciate the many functions that separate it from others. The GroundsLifter makes cleanup quick and easy as all the coffee grounds are pulled right from the bottom up. The frame and carafe separate so you can thoroughly clean the press, unlike ones I've used in the past. Overall, for the price and the quality, I highly recommend this product.
I've been using the 8 Cup French Press for a few weeks now, and I honestly love it! I have used several different types and brands of French press coffee makers over the years and I am really super impressed with this one. Here are the things I love about it :- It feels solid! As soon as I took it out of the box, I was impressed with the feel of it. I love the OXO grippy handle. It allows you to have a good hold on it.- The amount of metal coverage around the glass. Yes, you can still bang the glass on something in your dish drainer, but there is significantly more protection on this pot than most other glass presses I have seen or used.- I love the Grounds Lifter! Yes, you can still bang the glass on something in your dish drainer, but there is significantly more protection on this pot than most other glass presses I have seen or used.- I love the Grounds Lifter! This nifty gadget definitely makes getting the grounds out of the pot much faster, although it does not completely get all of them. You don't have to shake the pot over the garbage any more. A few errant grounds going down the drain is nothing to worry about. There are two things that I'd like to see improved on this pot if ever any updates are made on it:-Since this pot is an 8 cup and I sometimes don't want that much coffee, I'd love if there were measurement lines so that I could change the amount of water I pour in. I know that I can estimate the water by sight, but I find that the coffee comes out better with more precise measuring.- Because the Grounds Lifter has a tab that hangs over the edge of the glass and through a notch in the lid, it is not possible to spin the lid around in order to close the pour spout. To me, this was a huge oversight as the pour spout remaining open leads to the coffee cooling faster and we all know that we want coffee to stay hot.I wrap a heavy dish towel around the pot in order to seal in the heat.Overall, I think this is a great French Press! I love the feel of it and it is well made. The Grounds Lifter is definitely a great feature, too.
Iāve been making coffee in a French press for years and bought this after the glass in my tried and true Bodum Chambourd broke. I liked the idea of easier-to-clean grounds and, as it turns out, thatās the only good thing about this coffee maker... kind-of. Because of that grounds lifter, the filter press doesnāt seal well enough to the glass to keep the grounds out of the coffee. Itās so bad that the grounds block the pour spout in the lid and it has to be removed and rinsed. Even then, it takes forever to pour because the opening in the lid is so small. Also, if you make a full pot (who doesnāt!), hot coffee is pushed out up and of the lid when you depress the filter press - even if you do it very slowly and carefully. Also, if you make a full pot (who doesnāt!), hot coffee is pushed out up and of the lid when you depress the filter press - even if you do it very slowly and carefully. Coffee shoots out where that same grounds lifter pokes through the lid and makes a mess on the counter. Even without the grounds lifter in the pot, the filter press leaves behind too many grounds that block the pour spout and makes a mess. Iāve made literally thousands of pots of French Press coffee (2 per day for decades) and Iāve NEVER had these problems. Donāt waste your money on this. Itās easy to remove the spent grounds, but is poorly designed and a disappointment every single morning. An interesting side note... we watch Joe Rogan and I noticed that he had this French press sitting on the table for an episode right after he moved to his new studio. The next time I watched, there was a different French press. I knew why. This thing sucks. Trust me.
Quality, sturdiness, perfection! OXO does it again; with thoughtful designs, quality and reasonable price point over all other French Presses. Iām enjoying my coffee every morning. āļøHowever, I do hope OXO will reconsider offering carafe replacements for sale.
I own this and a stainless insulated French press. Both make good coffee. The metal holder protects the glass carafe nicely, yet easily releases it for cleaning. The grounds lifter isnāt perfect, but does make removing grounds easier for me. Iāve never had hot water leak or overflow when pushing in the plunger, nor have I had grounds clog the pour spout. I have had the odd ground end up in my cup, but Iāve had the same experience with other French press coffee makers. Bottom line: in my experience, this works reasonably well, I am satisfied with the product and would recommend it to others.
Do you enjoy scalding hot coffee on your hands? Do you wish there was an easy way to spill half a pot of coffee all over your counters and floors? Then boy do I have the french press for you. I bought this french press to replace on old $15 one that finally broke after years of daily use. The press looks nice sitting on the counter, or filled with coffee, but it's clear this is a case of form over function. The lid and screen are probably the most poorly designed aspect of this french press. Despite having a fine screen on the plunger, and a strainer on the spout I'm still getting a lot of grounds in every cup (more than I ever did with my cheaper press). Also because the screen doesn't do its one job the strainer on the spout tends to get blocked which slows the pour and contributes to the worst problem with this press. THIS PRESS WILL SPILL COFFEE ON YOU. The lid sits very, very loosely on top of the carafe. Loose enough that if you tilt it just a little too far (like if the spout gets clogged and you tilt it to pour faster) or too fast the lid can pop off spilling coffee all over your hand and kitchen. I've used many different brands and designs of french press and never had this issue. Don't buy this french press unless you really enjoy scalding yourself and cleaning up coffee from your kitchen floor.
I purchased this at the beginning January and have been using it 3x a week almost three solid months and I love it. Like another reviewer, instead of lifting the grounds straight up, I hold the French on itās side and scoop the grounds directly into my compost. I used to be a barista and my trick for never overfilling is to add your hot water to *just* the top of the metal holder around the glassāthat works for almost any French press, so Iāve never had a spill issue with this. The strainer at the pour spout is really just overkill, but it doesnāt slow anything down so I get it as an add on. Honestly, this is a great coffee press, and Iāve owned fancy Alessi and reliable Bodum, all the way down to my in-a-pinch lifesaving $7.99 IKEA 3-cupper in my cupboard right now. This is a contender, and this is the ONLY French press that my husband has EVER offered to make me coffee with voluntarily, of his own will, without my asking: he does not need coffee and he approves.
