Good product, with great results ...

This additive is effective with keeping the pet's breath fresher and teeth whiter for a longer period of time. The first pet that we introduced it to is no longer with us, but her 17-year-old teeth were still beautiful and intact when she died. Even her vet was amazed by the condition of her teeth. This high-quality, USA-made product receives "four stars" only because of the price ... it's a tad high compared to other products on the market ... BUT we will pay it, as our recent mistake of buying a different product (thinking that it was THIS) resulted in one pet vomiting and a second pet refusing to eat. Now that THIS is back in our home, the dogs have returned to having happy smiles and we are no longer worrying about their teeth. I can't say that it will completely eliminate the need for brushings and cleanings (in our case, it did), but it should greatly reduce it. I'm not "against" the competitor's product either ... it may work as well; it just didn't "agree with" our pups. In any case, I'd deem it safe to say that your pet kisses will at least smell sweeter!

My fur buddy's breath was getting a little stinky and I was beginning to see some plaque forming near his gum line. I saw this product and read the reviews on it. I decided to try this and have been extremely pleased with the results. He drinks his water as if there is nothing added to it. His breath is no longer stinky and his teeth are much cleaner. So much so that the vet just looked at his teeth and did not recommend a cleaning or even comment that we should get him in eventually for a cleaning. He is 4 years old and that is generally the time that they start to have the need for a cleaning. I do recommend that you do some brushing in addition to adding this to the water as it should not totally replace dental work. Right now...his teeth are white and clean looking.

One of my cats has serious health issues. Because of that, the vet has been reluctant to put her under anesthesia. A few months ago, we were suspecting she had a bad tooth, I I agreed to the risk of having her undergo general anesthesia. It had been six years since she'd had a dental. We were all shocked that she had no cavities at all. Except for needing a good cleaning, her teeth were perfect & x-rays showed no problems at all.On her dental six years ago she had to have three extractions for resorptive lesions. I've been concerned that she may be having continued problems with these lesions since they tend to recur. I can't claim that the Oxyfresh prevented them, but I definitely believe it prevented regular cavities.

I started using Oxyfresh about a year ago with my cats. It is almost impossible to brush a cats teeth, so I was hoping this product would help remove and prevent tartar buildup. I use the Catit water fountains and add Oxyfresh to the water at the maximum recommended dose. This past week during the check up of two of my sibling cats, my vet commented on how clean and healthy their teeth and gums look. Both of these cats are rescues who did not get extremely good nutrition as young kittens. Lack of good nutrition during development sometimes predisposes cats to have dental problems. They are now 4 years old and both have teeth that are very white, completely free of tartar and any signs of tooth decay. Their gums are very pink and healthy with no sign of periodontal ... MoreI started using Oxyfresh about a year ago with my cats. So happy to find a gallon size!

This product works wonders on my dogs' teeth. After spending a lot of money to have an older dog's teeth cleaned again & not wanting to put under anesthesia again I decided to give this a try. I have 4 Old English Sheepdogs & this gallon size is a great price break form the 16 oz. size I purchased earlier. Easy to use. Just measure the correct amount into a gallon size jug of water & use in place of regular water in their water bowl. I have been using it for about 2 months & notice even the dogs' teeth that were getting in need of cleaning are slowly improving. No brushing necessary. I had my 3 vets check the ingredients & all said completely safe, nothing in it to harm them. The dogs don't notice any difference in taste as they are drinking normal amounts of water. ... MoreThis product works wonders on my dogs' teeth. Terrible product - made cat extremely sick
22 July 2024

I had this out in my dogs' and cat's water dish for two days. Dogs seemed fine, but after the second day, my cat seemed SUPER off - wouldn't eat a bite of food, sitting in a dazed way, no purring (which is super unlike him) and when I tried to pick him up, he was stiff and meowed uncomfortably. It seemed like he was depressed and his body was completely shutting down. The overall reviews of this product look great, and the packaging claims to be vet-approved and non-toxic. I also trust Grove to carry safe products. After my cat's adverse reactions, I went to look at the one-star reviews - many of the reviews explained the same negative side effects. I also trust Grove to carry safe products. After my cat's adverse reactions, I went to look at the one-star reviews - many of the reviews explained the same negative side effects. Sodium hydroxide, one of the ingredients, is Lye which causes chemical burns. I immediately changed out the water dish water to plain tap water. I wanted to avoid bringing him in for fluids (vet bills = $$$), so I took off of work and gave him tap water through a syringe multiple times throughout that first afternoon. He seemed slightly better by the evening - I was able to get him to eat half a slice of American cheese. But he was acting odd still (eyes looked cloudy and he wasn't able to find the cheese if it dropped onto the floor). Did some eyes tests and it seemed like his vision hadn't gone completely. By the following morning, I got some purrs out of him so he was improving. Syringe fed him tap water a few times throughout that day. By the end of the second day, I had him back to normal.I WOULD DEFINITELY NOT RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT. It clearly has some bad ingredients that can cause real harm to some cats. I thought we'd lose our dear cat forever, and I'd have to live with the guilt of being the one that basically poisoned him.

My dogs breath wasn't terrible, but normal stinky hot dog breath. I noticed a difference within a day of my more stinky dog. I did not notice a difference at all with their drinking habits, so I assume they did not detect any taste or smell that's different which I'm happy about. One of my dogs typically does not like mint so I have to be careful. It was out of stock for a while so I ended up getting the gallon size, I'm happy I don't have to worry about it going out of stock again! I would definitely recommend trying this with your pet first to see how they react before purchasing a big size. To note I also change my dogs water at least twice a day in the morning and around dinnertime, I add about 3 pumps (I bought a mouthwash dispenser separately) to their water ... MoreMy dogs breath wasn't terrible, but normal stinky hot dog breath. This stuff really works… But takes at least a month.
27 May 2024

This stuff definitely works at reducing the god-awful smell of my cats breath. I check my cats teeth and they do look perfectly fine, but for some reason the cat has exceptionally bad breath. After adding this to its water for about a month, I noticed a significant decrease in the smell. I mean the cats breath is not roses or anything, but its way way better than it was. Just make sure to not add more than you absolutely need to because it doesn’t take much according to the instructions and this is something you want to use basically for the life of your cat… So don’t load it up with a ton of this stuff because a little bit goes a long way. And giving your cat more of it isn’t going to make it work faster… It takes a good solid month for you to notice a difference… ... MoreThis stuff definitely works at reducing the god-awful smell of my cats breath. I have three mixed breed rescues. Two of my dogs were having horrible breath and tartar build up. I love my pups and some days that breath would stop you in your tracks. One dog had a lot of tartar build up on one side of her mouth and the other had it on her front teeth. The third had some starting but is younger and it was minimal.I was trying brushing and the dental treats but didn't seem to help much. I didn't want to avoid kisses from my dog due to their absolute swamp mouth so I started looking for another option and found this.I started using it with some degree of cynicism but the price was fair, the reviews were incredible and I figured it was worth a shot.At first my dogs didn't want to drink the water and I considered stopping it but decided to wait it ... MoreI have three mixed breed rescues. And just like that kid, once they tried it they loved it. I noticed that even the older dog who drank minimal amounts of water before was now drinking more which is great for her. I am on bottle 3 (for 3 dogs- your pace might be different) and have noticed an incredible change in all of them. The spots with a lot of dark heavy plaque have steadily and progressively reduced and their teeth are whitening as well. Their breath is actually scent free and they are all drinking a healthy amount of water. So give it a minute if they swerve at first. I haven't seen any GI upset with mine but that might be an individual or breed specific allergy.I usually avoid writing reviews unless I am very happy with the product. This company has created an incredible product and I am incredibly impressed. So here I am joining the herd of happy customers and writing a review.

Worked wonders on one of my cats, but....
14 February 2024

I have 2 other cats that are sensitive to the dental solution in the water and don't seem to drink water for about a day. I'm putting 1 tsp in 5.5 cups of water in their Pioneer Pet fountain - I've seen other questions asked about if it's ok to put into a fountain with a carbon filter, seems to be perfectly fine for me. If anything, there's less algae buildup over the course of a few days, which is nice. One of my cats had inflamed gums and was chewing on his toys for a few days in a row. He's also the cat that drinks the most from the fountains, whereas my other two cats don't drink nearly as much. I add water to their dry food during mealtimes to ensure they're getting enough hydration.Overall, this is an excellent product! If you have cats that are sensitive to this, you may want to reduce the amount you put in their water. It really did work wonders on one of my cats, which I'm very, very happy about.
