Ozito 200W Multi Sander Kit

(196 reviews)

Get the most out of your sanding experience with this 200W Multi Sander, featuring 3 interchangeable bases allowing you to setup the sander to suit a wider range of applications. When sanding in hard to access areas the detail sanding pad is perfect due to its triangular point being able to reach into corners or fit between tight objects. The rectangular shape of the 1/3 sheet sanding pad is great for quickly removing material from large flat surfaces, whereas the random orbital action of the 125mm circular sanding pad can produce a smooth even result, ideal for finish sanding or preparing a surface for paint. Features also include a dust canister to help keep your work environment clean, and an ergonomic sure grip handle for increased user comfort.

The sanding sheets are its greatest failing. They are cut so they leave a raised surface edge at cutouts. This WILL scratch and affect the item being sander smooth. Its a vandals tool. The scratches are a continual line of tiny 5mm (the sanding vibration orbit) spirals that cant be removed easily. It triples the effort and why it is going back. It isnt fit to SAND. The sanding sheets can only be manufacturer supplied so there is no fix. Approx 50% of sheets are randomly impacted. And the true test is damaging the finish.

Seriously, don’t waste your time, buy the cheaper Xu1 detail sander and save yourself the headaches. The sandpaper sheets would only stay on for a minute or two at most making it near impossible to get anything done whilst costing you a fortune. Every now a d then I’d get lucky and one would stick. Funny thing though, when I replaced this with the far better xu1 detail sander they use the same stick on sand paper discs and the ones that wouldn’t stick to the obits had no issue sticking to the xu1.Anyway save yourself a couple of dollars and a headache and buy the xu1 instead. I’m far from the only one to make the switch and be highly impressed.

Exceptional value for money
29 July 2021

I purchased this ironhead sander because it was impossible to get Australian stock of the Festool equivalent I had planned to purchase. I was attracted to the fact that it is small and light, and the 35mm dust extraction port is a standard size that fits my dust extraction system. The Ozito unit looked like a good gamble (despite the predominantly very poor reviews) because it is just so ridiculously cheap. So far, I have used the unit to sand window frames and tight corners for some house painting I’m doing.I would recommend this unit for detail work.A couple of comments to respond to some of the negative reviews:1. The hook and loop base does look like it would be susceptible to heat damage. I’ve noticed with other (very expensive - e.g. Bosch blue) sanders that if you apply too much pressure when sanding, and sand for a very long time, then the base can become extremely hot and melt the hook and loop system. In this situation the pad fixing system will fail. This issue can be avoided by letting the sander do the work rather than applying excessive force while sanding, by changing pads frequently, and by using the machine for its intended purpose - detailed sanding. If you need to take a lot of material off, or cover large areas, an ironhead detail sander is completely the wrong tool for the job. Having said that, it’s also worth pointing out that the sander base can be replaced very easily if it does fail and Bunnings sells the replacement part for less than $10.2. Dust catch bags are generally useless with sanders. It doesn’t matter if they are cheap or expensive units, bags just work pretty poorly. I can confirm that with good quality dust extraction (in my case the Festool CT26, but honestly the Ryobi shop vac I had in the past would be sufficient), this detail sander has exceptional dust capture. And as I said above, the 35mm port means you can plug straight in to standard dust extraction systems (unlike my Makita random orbital sander, for example).3. When I read reviews saying this unit has excessive vibration I wondered if they were using a different product entirely. Compared to belt sanders or powerful orbital sanders, this thing is like holding an electric toothbrush - super light and easy to handle. To comment on some things that could be better (even though for the price point, expecting perfection would be ridiculous):1. The cord is frustratingly short. At 2m in length you end up needing an extension cord.2. The range of sanding pads available is limited, especially in fine grits given this is a detail sander. I would have liked to purchase 240 and 400 grit pads, but ones compatible with this unit don’t appear to exist. All in all though, value for dollar spent, this is right up there. Highly recommended as long as it isn’t your only sander and you don’t try to use it for the wrong jobs.

Great palm sander
12 July 2022

I bought this unit on 11/07/2022 and have used it for at least 12 hours so far, often 2-3 hours non-stop to sand my hardwood floor. I haven't encountered any of the problems the other reviewers mentioned. I have Bosch and Makita sanders and comparatively this unit performs as good as the other two but at a fifth of the price. It has very little vibration, nice palm handle, well located on/off switch, and lots of power. The dust conduit fits perfectly with a standard vacuum cleaner. My Bosch and Makita sanders need their own adaptor, each costing $20-30. It also comes with 20 pads of different grits which surprisingly last long enough. I used two 120 grit pads to sand 10 sq.m of hardwood floor. It also comes with 3 yr replacement warranty. All this for $33! Two Big Mac meals would cost more. With the velcro pads, there is a trick with all velcro orbital sanders. First, put the pad on the floor, then properly put the unit on the pad while switched off, then while holding and pressing the unit down, turn it on. This will lock the velcro pieces.Remember, with ANY sander, connect it to a vacuum cleaner. This is a good practice to keep the motor cool and the pads dust free.Overall, it is a good unit for its performance and price.

It sands...for about 2 mins
23 April 2022

I woyld not buy this sander again. I'd previously had a black & decker mouse sander. This little Ozito sander seemed like an inexpensive option but at the rate it goes thru sanding pads, it's not. They literally only hold on for 2 mins of sanding and then you need a new pad. Right from the beginning the dust catcher has not clipped on properly on one corner. So it just falls off mid sanding which creates a huge mess. I have duct taped in on now and I'll be buying a new, better sander before I tear that tape off and empty the catcher. A disappointing waste of money all round.

Its ok...
20 July 2021

Generally does the job. Mine is fairly powerful. Make sure to wriggle the sanding pads sufficiently onto the sander before using or you might get them flying off like the other review said. I actually had no issues with that. There is only one speed which is obviously full power. Can sometimes be a bit much. I second the comments on the 'dust collector'. Its awful. It does nothing. Might as well leave it off. I cant even take the lid off the dust collector to empty what little dust it intercepted. FYI, hook and loop is commonly known as the the genericized trademark name 'Velcro'.

Pretty much rubbish
31 January 2022

I purchased this a few days ago for a very small sanding job that I just did not want to do by hand. Mistake. Same as lots of other reviews the sandpaper comes off the sander. In my case within 1 minute if starting to use it.Dust collection is, as would be expected for a cheap tool like this, useless. But when it cannot even be used to do sand a very small job it reflects badly on Bunnings....they would be better just selling an empty cardboard box with a pretty picture of a sander on it....a few sheets of sandpaper inside with a note that says just do it yourself by hand... Thats what I did.If this is all you want to spend your better to keep your money.

The sander itself is great, but the sandpaper backing is the major setback.
2 November 2022

It works well. However, the backing of the sandpaper is the major setback. There are a lot of people complaining about the sandpaper flying off after a few minutes of use. It is quite true, I was able to get 30 mins per sandpaper, but the sandpaper surface still has plenty of life left. Then I checked what's wrong. There is nothing wrong with the sander itself and the Velcro pad of the sander is perfectly fine, no melting nor damage. On the other hand, the fluff on the used sandpaper backing doesn't stick to the sander that well anymore. If I stick a new unused sandpaper to the sander, solid connection. This is a pretty universal problem with most sanders, regardless of price or brand. Veru Disappointed with this Ozito Product.
12 December 2022

I bought this today from Bunnings. Took it home and put it to work. Within 3 mins sanding pad started falling of the bottom. Replaced pad and same think happen again. Replaced pad for third time and same hapened again. The Loop and Hook pad retention is poor. Each of the three pads used came out of the box. Tried a fourth competor pad and it to fell off the bottom. Suggest you buy something else.
